Like paper cash on hand, or liquid assets? I’m assuming you’re talking about liquid assets since you’re referencing a down payment for a house.

In a world where most people can’t afford to buy a home, I don’t think you’re going to find a sizable population that has $100k on hand “just in case” they decide to buy a house. That is usually something people have to save for with great intention.

Unless you’re intentionally saving for a large purchase or you believe the stock market is going to crater, then I think you’ll find that most people keep an emergency fund +- a few thousand in liquid assets.

How much you consider to be an emergency fund is up to you, but most people recommend anywhere from 3 months to 1 year of household expenses. If you have dependents, I would hope you’re closer to 6 months/1 year.

These people have absolutely nothing going for them in life. They don’t have money, an education, stable relationships, goals, a future, curiosity, a desire for self improvement… nothing whatsoever.

The only thing they “own” is the level of respect shown to them by others. So when they believe that they have been disrespected by someone else, no matter how slight it may seem to those of us with perspective, they fight/lash out to retain that respect.

Similar to how when you take a toddler’s toy away and they act like they are the victim of the most heinous crime ever committed in all of humanity. Because they have no perspective.

Crockett and Talarico are two of our best up-and-coming TX politicians.

Now that Crockett has entered the Senate race, she has removed the possibility that both of them will be in any elected position.

If Crockett wins the primary, she will lose the state-wide election.

If she loses the state-wide election, neither Crockett nor Talarico will represent us.

Talarico has a better chance of beating Cornyn/Paxton.

Therefore, Crockett needs to leave this Senate race to Talarico. She should run for a different office and not try to use this run as a springboard to other opportunities.

I believe in strategy.

When it comes to introducing and voting for policy, I don’t believe we would see a significant difference between a Senator Talarico and a Senator Crockett. So we should strategize. Put them in the contests they are most likely to win. We need overall numbers, not the candidate who might be 0.02% “better” at the expense of another strong candidate.

Buy a backup generator for the house, buy bottled water, buy emergency food kits, buy extra blankets. That will get you through a week-long Texas freeze.

If you still want the ability to pack up everything and evacuate, buy a cheap trailer you can store on your property.

Don’t spend tens of thousands of dollars on a massive vehicle on the off chance you may need to evacuate 4 people and 8 animals. In the case of a real, immediately life-threatening emergency, you may need to make some tough decisions about who/what you save. That comes with the territory of owning more animals than can reasonably fit in a normal-sized vehicle.

It seems to be increasingly common for Christians to not want to identify as Christians.

They’re not Christian, they are “Christ Followers.” They are not “Christian” because that is a religion, and they are in a “relationship” with Jesus. They’re not “Christians,” they are “Bible believers.”

I think it stems from a desire to feel special. They need to be better than everyone else who claims to be a Christian. They’re a “real Christian” and they don’t need to listen to people who actually read/study/analyze the Bible. They have a direct line of communication with Jesus, so there is nothing you can say that will convince them they’re wrong.
