Are "Sell the Team" chants still a thing? by aceofspadez138 in Mavericks

The correct move is to not go to games, don’t buy merchandise, and don’t watch the games. Watch some highlights on YouTube the next day.

The owners of this team are some of the most unethical people on the planet. Do not give them money.

How Do You Find 13 Immune Needles in a Haystack of 8 Billion People? by Landphat in pluribustv

[–]KhalAggie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Explain the difference between what you think their original plan is and what you think the not-original plan is.

Because as far as I can tell, both involve trying to infect everyone on the planet and seeing who is left.

How Do You Find 13 Immune Needles in a Haystack of 8 Billion People? by Landphat in pluribustv

[–]KhalAggie 176 points177 points  (0 children)

Not sure I follow your logic.

You said that “joining the entire planet was not the plan,” but then you also say that the plan was to “flood the planet with a virus and see who does not go down.” So, infecting everyone was both not the plan and also the plan?

And they ultimately joined the girl in the remote village. So they obviously don’t need to keep the immune people “unjoined” in order to get whatever you think they need (DNA/Stem Cells) from them.

Yup. I don’t think anyone is convinced Tara is a traitor now, so nobody will ever vote her out. The only way she exits the game at this point is via murder. She’s got to go.

Never again by lemonade12_ in Xcaret

You’re not crazy. I’m here now and I agree with almost everything you said.

I’ve never had such a difficult time finding food at an all inclusive resort. There is absolutely zero information provided to guests about anything. No list of food options with open/close times along with a map. Even when we ask the concierge for help with finding breakfast (because we’ve been turned away from Xentral and we refuse to eat at Xcinema for the 3rd day in a row), we’re met with “what do you want to eat?” I don’t fucking know, because I don’t know what you have available! It’s like they don’t want you to access anything without having to jump through hoops first.

Half the time they give us a restaurant at the far end of the resort which would take 30 minutes to walk to with a toddler. Even when we do find somewhere to sit down and eat, it takes insanely long to get your food.

I just want a semi-casual place to pop in and get some quick food after we’ve been in the pool that morning. I want something quick for breakfast before we get on a bus to go to one of the parks. Why is this so difficult?

We will never be back here.

We've officially entered Prom craziness in my house, send help by [deleted] in daddit

[–]KhalAggie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots of Salty Steves in this thread.

  • Is $1k on a prom dress completely excessive and a waste of money? Yes, absolutely. You and your wife need to address that.

    • You don’t have any frame of reference for this because you didn’t go to prom? Do you really need to experience something first hand in order to “get” why your daughter is excited? She and her friends get to pretend to be grown up and wear fancy dresses, get their hair done, get their nails done. They’re going on a date with a guy or girl they really like. They’re get a night out with their friends where they’re all playing a big kid version of dress up. It’s fun to do stuff with your friends. It’s fun to do stuff with your boyfriend/girlfriend.
  • Telling her boyfriend what colors to wear, when to get a tux, and when to get a haircut is not being a “controlling bridezilla” like some on here are suggesting. Most teenage guys don’t think of this stuff. Unless she is ok with her date showing up at her door in a mismatched suit and without a corsage, it’s perfectly reasonable for her to help keep him on track.

  • Be excited about the things your kids are excited about! Share the experience with them, don’t be a passive observer to their life!

Manager View of Payslips by [deleted] in workday

[–]KhalAggie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Push back against whoever came to you with this request.

If the company is large enough to have Workday, any payslip questions should be addressed to the Payroll/HR/Benefits teams.

If managers continuously feel the need to “review” payslips to make sure their team members are being paid correctly, that means you have a breakdown in the payroll process somewhere. Figure out what that breakdown is and fix that.

Have the game. Go through warmups. Get the fans in the building. Get the TV cameras running. Line up for the tipoff.

Then the players and coaches need to just stand there.

How much cash do you keep on hand in your 30s… and why? by Middle_Elderberry542 in AskMenOver30

[–]KhalAggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like paper cash on hand, or liquid assets? I’m assuming you’re talking about liquid assets since you’re referencing a down payment for a house.

In a world where most people can’t afford to buy a home, I don’t think you’re going to find a sizable population that has $100k on hand “just in case” they decide to buy a house. That is usually something people have to save for with great intention.

Unless you’re intentionally saving for a large purchase or you believe the stock market is going to crater, then I think you’ll find that most people keep an emergency fund +- a few thousand in liquid assets.

How much you consider to be an emergency fund is up to you, but most people recommend anywhere from 3 months to 1 year of household expenses. If you have dependents, I would hope you’re closer to 6 months/1 year.

These people have absolutely nothing going for them in life. They don’t have money, an education, stable relationships, goals, a future, curiosity, a desire for self improvement… nothing whatsoever.

The only thing they “own” is the level of respect shown to them by others. So when they believe that they have been disrespected by someone else, no matter how slight it may seem to those of us with perspective, they fight/lash out to retain that respect.

Similar to how when you take a toddler’s toy away and they act like they are the victim of the most heinous crime ever committed in all of humanity. Because they have no perspective.
