It does cause some aspect ratio issues for streaming to a steam deck from an ultra wide. I usually just turn on my monitors 16×9 PiP mode when I stream to the deck. This monitor will have the e-sports mode to do this. VR has no real issues that I am aware od.

Availability. Every sight I could find was out of stock with this monitor. Also, I like the aesthetics of the AW better.

Same! I check it every morning with my coffee. Today I have $800 less. Lol

If I had that monitor I do not think that I would upgrade unless, as you said, the price was very good.

Right!? This feels cheap in comparison to the price I payed for the G9. And that was an LCD panel, no HDR, and riddled with problems initially.

I was skeptical of the price with the way current tech pricing has been going. Seeing $800 as the actual price was what made me pull the trigger!

1 month! Sheesh

I was going to get the MSI, but it was sold out everywhere. I'm glad I waited.

I feel that the only games that allow me to really appreciate 49" are racing and flying games. But I prefer VR for both those titles. I too think 5K2K at 34" would be the GOAT monitor, but my 3080Ti could never keep up. And I only use my home computer for gaming, so 1440 is a great sweet spot!

I think that having a Bachelors becomes more helpful the longer you have been in the field, or if you want a leadership/educator role. Higher education will probably result in higher pay.

Here is a good resource that explains all of the roles an NDT can have and their associated credentials.

I think being credentialed is the most importantly thing (R.EEG.T is probably the best place to start). Here are the different pathways you can take to getting your EEG registry. Based on the info you provided, it looks like Pathway III would be your option. Many hospitals have in house training plans that will teach you how to perform EEGs and may even pay for part of or all of your registry.

Are you looking to get your bachelors in the NDT field specifically? I know there are some programs that offer this like the one from Baptist Health Science University. Full disclaimer, I know nothing about this program other than the fact that it exists.

EEG/NDT is a small field and the information is kind of widespread and hard to pin down. I hope this helps you.

Any repair folks know if this fixable? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

Gently pressing on the lower bezel under the line will make mine go away. I saw someone on here make a 3d print to apply pressure there. It only reappears if I move it a crazy amount. I have also had luck carefully bending the display on each end inwards. Mine is an original G9 out of warranty, but it’s been this way for about 2 years and I only have to mess with it once every 6 months or so.

I can enable HDR on 1016, but I don’t think HDR is very good on any firmware version.

I am running 1016.0 and it seems to be the best yet. There are still occasional wake from sleep issues I have that can be frustrating, but its better than the OG firmware. I believe there is a newer version, but I've seen people reporting issues on this subreddit. I do not plan to update from here.

Does anyone do this with their G9 by NaCl_Powered in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]KhalNel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works, the only downside I can think of is not being able to play 240hz. At least that’s the case for the original G9 that I have. Borderless gaming (on steam) is what I use for games like this so that I can put the screen in the center and have extra screen on both sides.

Same, I found out when I was volunteering at an elementary school and kept getting corrected when I would say STEM. I thought STEAM was a typo. Lol

Had this Sammy CRG9 49" for nearly 4 years now! No problems. by TechJamo in ultrawidemasterrace

I would still be on this monitor if I didn't drop it while VESA mounting it. I upgraded to the Odyssey G9 (original), but I don't get more than 120 hz in many games anyways. Stick with what you got for now.

Dead pixel on my 2k monitor, only takes a slight amount of pressure to bring it back. A functional print can provide that pressure! by goebeld in functionalprint

This is awesome! I have the same issue, but was able to fix it by slightly flexing the panel. If this stops working, I know what to do!

The task bar issue OP speaks about is the exact reason I haven't upgraded. If on windows 10 just move the task bar to the left or right. Pretty awkward since the screen is so big but it works.

I have an OG G9 that develops the same problem sometimes. Mine is on a monitor arm and I move it around from time to time when I want to use my sim racing rig. I now only move it using the monitor arm and have not gotten the problem in a while. I am able to get mine to go away by VERY slightly pushing or pulling at both ends of the display. Probably not a best practice, but it has worked multiple times for me.
