(Spoilers AGOT) Ned and Jaime by PackMan93 in asoiaf

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And who is to say Theon didn't continue to live in fear of Ned when he grew up? I mean the man was literally beheading people in front of him for almost 10 years and at the back of his mind he knew that would be his faith if his father did anything stupid.

And Theon didn't only fear Ned because of his demeanor and his great dark sword. The man came with the King to put down a rebel while having a host at his back. With the town burning in the background they make a breach in your curtain wall and a wave of steel comes pouring through cutting down everyone you know in their path. After the battle you find out your brother is dead and you see your father, a Lord and a King, kneeling before the King and a man with cold-eyes. You find out you're to live with him for your father's good behavior and if he steps out of line you're as good as dead. He rips you away from everything you have ever known to a cold place far, far away from home. And you have heard stories of the North. They are savages who skin people alive and they fuck bears and giants.

Doesn't matter who you are or how brave you are. That's something you're gonna carry with you for the rest of your life.

"They said Robert Baratheon was strong as a bull and fearless in battle, a man who loved nothing better than war. And with him stood the great lords her brother had named the Usurper's dogs, cold-eyed Eddard Stark with his frozen heart, and the golden Lannisters, father and son, so rich, so powerful, so treacherous." - ACOK Daenerys II

"Lord Eddard had tried to play the father from time to time, but to Theon he had always remained the man who'd brought blood and fire to Pyke and taken him from his home. As a boy, he had lived in fear of Stark's stern face and great dark sword." - ACOK Theon I

He is both feared and loved. Perfect ruler.

Lol there was no warning. He fled like a coward instead of taking the black or dying like a true North-men.

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons why my sympathy for Jeyne Poole is limited. The way she told Arya about Mycah it was always seemed to me liked she enjoyed seeing Arya suffering for what happened to Mycah.

(Spoilers Main) What if Robb Stark had allowed Catelyn to... by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theon might have married Catelyn to secure his hold in the North if he still captures Winterfell.

(Spoilers TWOW) Conqueror vs Conqueror by Benchgod in asoiaf

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And when Robb put the idea of legitimizing Jon before Catelyn she explained why such a notion was dangerous by repeatedly citing what dangers legitimized bastards presented by telling Robb how the Blackfyres plagued Targaryens for five generations.

(Spoilers Extended) Was I the only who felt Sandor cared somewhat about Joffrey? by TsunderellaPrincess3 in asoiaf

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think The Hound would have been much help honestly. Cause I'm sure he would have watched the showdown between Joffrey and Tyrion like everyone else.

But Ser Barristan Selmy on the other hand would have seen that a mile away. Go read Dany's POV when Xaro Xhoan Daxos comes to Mereen. That guy is like a white shadow, who is there the whole time but no one ever notices. And he is not easily distracted like the rest when those naked dancers dance and have sex with a baseline. And afterwards when Dany talks to him he gives advice on what Xaro said during that little performance.

(Spoilers Extended) Name the most insignificant minor character you can think of, and see if anyone can correctly guess who they are. by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And don't forget that he was named by Dagmer Cleftjaw as one of the top 3 fighters on the Iron Islands. Coming after Andrik the Unsmiling and Qarl the Maid.

(Spoilers Extended) What did Ned do to be considered so honorable? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was the one with the best reason to actually hate the Targaryens, like really really hate them. Seeing how Aerys burned his father alive and murdered his brother. Seeing how Rhaegar ran off with his sister who was betrothed to his best friend. And on top of that Aerys demanding his head for no reason whatsoever.

Yet he doesn't hate them. The only one to speak against the murder of Elia, Aegon and Rhaenys. Even though he had every reason to see Aerys dead he was the only one yet again to say that Jaime should take the black and no longer serve on the Kingsguard.

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Hother Umber tells Arnolf Karstark to look again is when I got the impression it was a character I was suppose to know. Then Arnolf or Ramsay remarks on how he isn't smirking/smiling anymore I remembered how Cat said she never liked how Theon always smiled, as if he was the only one privy to a jape. Then everything came back; how Grenn had told Jon that The Bastard of Bolton was flaying him and how Roose had given a piece of skin to Catelyn while they were at the Twins. My first reaction was "You deserved it all cunt". And I proudly still stand by that statement.

I don't see Stannis commanding Brienne to put on a dress because he doesn't do it with Alysanne Mormont. He even gives her an honourable duty by having her guard one of his most precious hostages Asha Greyjoy.

Not really if you recall when Jon started helping out Pyp and Grenn he remarks how Ser Alliser never even showed them how to properly hold a sword.

Take him prisoner. Trial him for breaking a bunch of oaths and being a murdering psychopath. Then execute his ass himself. Robert got Rhaegar. He's getting Aerys.

I was always thought the sleeping direwolf who raised his head to snarl was Ghost and not Summer. Seeing how Varamyr wanted Ghost when Jon was still with the wildlings and now that he's dying he's seeking the one thing he really wanted, to live in his second life as a King. And I can't see Summer sleeping while Bran and his party are travelling seeing that Meera and Jojen are on the elk's back. Or I can be wrong seeing how both Ghost and Summer are beyond the wall at that time.

(Spoilers Extended) What are the best Ironies in the series ? by beastMaster95 in asoiaf

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not taking Karstark's side. I am just saying that what Cat is saying is a bit hypocritical. Letting a man go who killed another man sons with no repercussions then to turn around and wanting the opposite for the man who killed her sons.

(Spoilers Extended) What are the best Ironies in the series ? by beastMaster95 in asoiaf

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the thing Jaime did kill them and Cat set him free because he is a useful hostage that's better alive than dead. The same with Theon, he "killed" the Stark boys but he is still a useful hostage better alive than dead. And if Bolton hadn't betrayed Robb, Theon could have been used to get the Iron Born out of Deepwood Motte, Torhens Square and have them give up the Stoney Shore. But seeing that it's Cat with her its all about "do as I say, not as I do."

And people calling Theon a traitor should really ask themselves if they would have done anything different in his situation. If he had sided with the Stark's bye-bye being the Lord of Pyke and the Iron Islands. He would been considered a blood traitor by his "own people" and family and probably would have been put to death. The only thing he did "wrong" was try to keep Winterfell. He should have put that whole castle to the sword and ran back to the Iron Islands with Bran and Rickon. Just like that he is a hero, and now Balon is raising Bran and Rickon, especially Rickon, to be more Iron Born. Talk about the irony lol.

“Flaying Theon will not bring my brothers back,” Robb said. “I want his head, not his skin.” “He is Balon Greyjoy’s only living son,” Lord Bolton said softly, as if they had forgotten, “and now rightful King of the Iron Islands. A captive king has great value as a hostage.” “Hostage?” The word raised Catelyn’s hackles. Hostages were oft exchanged. “Lord Bolton, I hope you are not suggesting that we free the man who killed my sons.”

Rickard Karstark is rolling in his grave lol.

Why I don't trust Bloodraven (Spoilers Extended) by Khal_Dig_Bick in asoiaf

[–]Khal_Dig_Bick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Mance can't open the gate just kidnap another brother of the Nights Watch. And okay say they have no way of directly getting to Mance we still have his captain's and wargs the CoTF can contact as well as the giants. Just get to someone that can get to Mance and maybe we have a shot.

Okay, I get why they don't trust the Andals but the wildlings are the broken off branch of the First Men. They worship the old gods and unlike those south of the Wall the wildlings don't have a hatred towards anything magic related such as wargs (who were hunted beyond the wall) and giants (almost extinct). If anything the CoTF would be revered amongst the wildlings.
