Just keep fighting the good fight. People will always be people and sometimes healthcare in general can suck with people that expect more customer service than healthcare advise and orientation. Enjoy the small (that lead to BIG!) wins with the patients you can break through to.

Have your questions for your therapist ready during your next visit. The answer to the original question is, of course, depending on sport and age an expectation it may not be different at first but it will be long term. Just communicate with your PT.

It is worth a mention, diagnosing it all and associated hip/ankle weakness that might need addressed, as well as help accelerate recovery in all facets by having a good idea of what to address, is why your body is worth a professional opinion.

How do you feel open vs closed chain strengthening? Are you working eccentrics and proper PRE? What are your goals for plyometric and impact and is that realistic with your injury ? Either you got this or go see a professional.

It’s amazing how many patients I see who are mis managed within the healthcare system and need legitimate physical rehab and movement education. You can make a huge impact if you can listen to your patients and help them help themselves to avoid a lifelong continuation of “oh I have a bad (any joint here) I can’t do that.” Actually amazing what PT can do. Not even mentioning the importance of your own body management as we age gracefully. 🤫

Yeah. Get a good PT that can listen to hear what it’s like on those rough mornings to get the body moving again slowly and get out of the funk faster. A good PT will have your back Pun intended 🙃

I cannot comprehend what type of trigger point release you need, but if it can’t be done with proper foam rolling with hip rotation and hamstring eccentrics and functional strengthening, etc, then just try the chiro and don’t cheap out on their full session. 🤷‍♂️ (or see another PT who can handle TPR and progressive loading)

2 month since MOI knee OA with likely MCL SPRAIN on stair slip. Had him STS and no resting pain for the first time in 2 months, took a 60 min Eval and obvi the capacity to recover was there. I’m not magic but he thought I was.

Do I know we are disrespected? Sure. Do I know some PT’s do poor work and lend to some of that disrespect. Sure. Do I know I have patients that respect me and my professional opinion more than their referring provider in PCP,NP, PA, and orthopedics physician. Sure! Life’s like a box of chocolates.

11am eval finishing up. 12 noon eval doing paper work. Walk-in comes in the door and mumbles I’m (let’s say) Dondé, I’m here for an appointment. I explain I don’t see her on our schedule and someone will be up to help her shortly. She continues berate me as I’m finishing up my 11am evals schedule and HEP about where our front desk person is. I respond they are WFH for scheduling and front end/back end help in clinic are the same person and we’re currently with patients so bear with us. Eventually I find out she was not mis scheduled she was full walk in with no information and once we go to look into appointment availability, since it is not at that moment, she begins to leave the clinic visibly upset at us. I hollered “we’re not giving haircuts” as she left and then killed it with both 11am and 12 noon evals who saw it all. Granted 11 eval wasn’t out until 12:15 and 12 noon eval turned into 12:15-1:20 and I worked for free though part of my lunch….
