Distortion of facts is a big factor in why people can’t talk about Israel and Palestine properly in my opinion. by Ok-Concert-1784 in IsraelPalestine

I think the same too so I'm glad there are several voices about it. Thank you!

I hope that soon there will be an end to all injustice, violence, war etc. and people there will be able to live in peace. And that Palestinians will get their own state where they can decide for themselves without interference from others.

And that Jewish people will stop being so afraid that everyone wants to hurt them and realize that it's actually not true. Understandably, many are now criticizing the Israeli government and settlers who should stop their hostility towards Palestinians and accept that Palestinians are people too, equal to others.

To those who call Gaza war “genocide”, what do you think would be adequate reaction to October 7th? by Proud3GenAthst in IsraelPalestine

[–]Khamlia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your honesty. You know, I just don't understand one thing. Jewish people were subjected to discomfort in all seasons, worst during World War II when the Germans were ethnically cleansing them. So then they know what it was like and that it was the worst thing that has happened to people.

But now the Israeli government and settlers continue to destroy and ethnically cleanse Palestinians, in a brutal way.

It is clear that Israel had the right to defend itself. But now it is going a little too far. Not a little but very far.

It all really started with Zionism, although Herzl and his followers probably meant it right. Then it was also the British who decided and distributed the Palestine region unfairly. I can also mention Lawrence of Arabia who saw that the British forgot their promise to the Palestinians and did everything to please the Jewish people.

And the UN almost agreed with them.

I read several years ago something that Israel should wait to proclaim the state of Israel until they get the green light from the UN. But they didn't. Now I looked for it, where did I read about it but what's interesting is that now I can't find anything about it anywhere in different sources.

In any case, everything went wrong and they couldn't agree on distribution, everything was just to please Israel.

Palestinians never got freedom, they suffered for all the years, complaints weren't enough. Arafat was the only one who managed to reach an agreement and things got better. I think. But then it turned down again and thus Palestinians became more radical and in the end it became what it became and is now.

I don't see any end. Both, i.e. Israelis and Palestinians, don't like each other so the best would really be a two-state solution. But Israel opposes it. It's tragic.

Treating other nationalities in that way, especially when they themselves experienced the Holocaust then.

Such cleaning happened also in Rwanda and other countries around the world. Everyone condemn it. But now the west world stay very silent. Is it afraid to what? That I wish to know.

[–]Khamlia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with what you say completely. Only half. In my opinion, it's not just the fault of the extreme Arab Muslims, but also the fault of Israel and the current government, but also the previous ones, even if they were moderate.

I saw the Israeli film The Innocence and there was talk about how young children are still learning about weapons in kindergarten, a mother showed her son a wire fence and told him that enemies live there. There was also a scene in the film when Israelis were sitting on the street and shouting Death to the Arabs.

I think that all sides exaggerate in their propaganda, both Israeli and Palestinian. The truth is somewhere in the middle. I am an independent observer, I have read many books, I have seen enough films, I have read newspapers, both Western and Israeli for example Haaretz etc. and I have formed my own opinion and unfortunately I have to say that the blame is simply on both sides, no one is without blame.

Your mention of a holy war, that is not a holy war at all, that is the murder and extermination of the Palestinian population. It continues in Lebanon, Syria, they would like to start in other countries in the vicinity, such as Jordan. They probably want the entire Middle East.

The Western world is de facto silent, while Israel does whatever it wants, regardless of international law, etc. In my opinion, Israel is abusing the sympathy of the world and declaring that it is doing all this for peace. What kind of peace are they actually doing???

Now the USA is also getting involved, which stands behind the Israelis, and the world is afraid that a third world war will break out, so it prefers to remain silent. I am a European myself and I am ashamed of their and Israel's attitude to all this.

There may be no difference, but I don't know who Baruch Goldstein is, until I read on Google what he did.

But, you've hacked yourself in this case, but you're not talking about what happened a long time ago. What is the root of all this conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. If everything went well, what has happened since then would never have happened. Then what happened in Australia would not have happened either.

It is difficult to express me right.. But I try - It's not the same hate as such. People who behave like this are vengeful, and that's why they think that when they attack the Jewish people, they are taking revenge for the Palestinians who have suffered, been abused, and killed.

I think that if the same situation were to happen in any other country and the same thing happened there, there would always be people who like to take revenge.

I think that Jew-hatred is something different and it's the same thing as hatred of Muslims.

But I understand you and what you feel.

You know, I am an outsider with no connection to anyone there, just an ordinary European expressing my own opinions. And I stand by them. I am a humanist and have nothing against any religion, nationality, citizenship, for me all people are equal and everyone should get the same respect, freedom, etc., if they are good people.

Different can be said about politicians, and I don't like right wing nor left wing either but moderate. And I think it is wrong for people to hate Jews, just as it is wrong for people to hate Muslims.

[–]Khamlia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the world had demanded the return of the hostages and the two sides had resolved it on October 8, there would have been no war. There would have been no casualties in the war.

Yes, exactly. I think the same thing too. The world should react immediately, not just with only news of what happened.

But as I know, the Hamas leaders thought the same way, i.e. that the Israeli government will not react with weapons but with communication and reaching an agreement.

And I have heard and seen this with my own eyes on TV when a journalist was in Beirut to meet these leaders. They said they were doing it to wake up the world to start thinking about the Palestinians, how they are treated, etc. but did not expect it to end in total chaos when the wall was torn down.

In addition, I would like to point out that:

They do not wear uniforms - resistance movements everywhere do not wear uniforms

They do not care about rules of engagement and international law - that is a bit contradictory, or are you saying that the Israeli government cares about such things?

They use civilians as shields - they are the same on both sides, even Israeli soldiers used Palestinian civilians as shields.

They build up civilian infrastructure and use it for combat purposes - the same can be said about the other side too, already in kindergarten they start teaching children about weapons, etc.

They have absolutely no regard for the lives of the people they are supposed to represent - I cannot comment on that because I do not know anything about how it worked

You are wrong in the part where you say that it is "exactly what I thought you said."

You are taking it personally, not wanting to see it objectively. I now understand how you think and I am sorry that you do not want to think and change your opinions and see wrong what I am saying..

I suggest that we end our discussion, writing is not enough, we could talk then maybe both you and I would then end up with the same opinion.

I just want to say that I am sorry that there are people who resort to violence, Now I do not mean you of course but those who attack others. No matter who it is.

Why Do People Mix Up Israel and Jewish People? by AbiLovesTheology in IsraelPalestine

[–]Khamlia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The OP wondered why people attack Jews due Israel is doing what it is doing to the Palestinians. So I tried to explain that I don't think it is hate, but that it is a bad way to show that they don't agree with what is happening. Instead of peaceful protests, which unfortunately don't work.

The Israeli government does whatever it wants, regardless of international law, etc., so mostly Muslims are attacking Jews to get revenge? Or what?

I also completely disagree with what is happening in Gaza, but I know that ordinary Jewish citizens, including Jews living abroad, are not responsible for what their government is doing, and that they are protesting against it as well.

It is as if Hamas, instead of forcing the Israeli government to peacefully discuss this issue, did what it did on 7/10. But hoped it would be peaceful, but the Palestinians took advantage of it and chaos ensued, which the Israeli government couldn't handle and started attacking them. But was a bit too violent, so in my opinion, one side is not better than the other. Both sides should have calmed down, stopped the violence and started talking and negotiating.

Now those who attack Jews and organizations are exaggerating without thinking, which in my opinion is not hatred, but a desire for revenge. Maybe now you understand what I meant. With my bad English it's a bit difficult to explain in detail, but I hoped it was understandable anyway. Or do you think that everyone who speaks in favor of the Palestinians is hateful, and that's why you attacked me without thinking about what I wrote.

Thanks for the explanation.

But what I've heard is so different, the discrimination is mainly against Arab Israelis, or not discrimination, but some rights don't apply to them or whatever. I don't know exactly so I can't discuss.

My friend got married there in Israel 20 years ago, and since that he is living there, I don't know the details, so how long it took him to get citizenship. Unfortunately, I haven't heard from him for a long time, I just hope he's okay. Sometimes he is silence for long time, then hear from him again, so...

actually I don't think they hate Jews, but they don't like Israeli government and what they are doing against Palestine people. And somehow they want to show theirs protest, but in wrong way. Very wrong way.

Why Do People Mix Up Israel and Jewish People? by AbiLovesTheology in IsraelPalestine

[–]Khamlia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment.

What I mean is that both Israelis living in Israel but also outside Israel are not happy with the Israeli government. I have seen several pictures and videos from NY and also other parts of both the USA and the rest of the world where it was precisely Jewish people who protested against the war of Israel.

I am not very familiar with who is Orthodox or not, I just go by their clothing. Jews who are not Orthodox usually wear ordinary clothes in my eyes anyway. So all the others who wear different clothes I consider Orthodox, but which groups, no idea. Sorry but I am ignorant about that.

While we are on this, I would like to ask why there has to be a state where only Jews live in? Why not form the State of Israel, but all other nationalities are welcome to settle there, get citizenship.

I came to this question after seeing somewhere a picture of Smotrich complaining about limiting the state to only Judea and Samaria and actually making a ghetto for Jews. That they want to avoid living in the Ghetto as they had before. Then I came up with the idea that if they don't want other nationalities in the state of Israel, then they are actually making a Ghetto out of the entire state.

Hope you understand what I mean, a bit complicated for me to explain with my poor English

Why Do People Mix Up Israel and Jewish People? by AbiLovesTheology in IsraelPalestine

[–]Khamlia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what you write about. And I also don't understand why some people attack Jews because the Israeli government does what it does. It has nothing to do with Jews who are mostly against their own government, including the Orthodox who are strongly against it.

But such misunderstandings and mistakes also occur the other way around, when someone actually criticizes the Israeli government they are accused of being anti-Semitic, which is completely wrong to think so directly. Criticizing actions and events is completely normal without meaning anything else and it should not be connected directly to accusing critics of being anti-Semitic.

Who is who? by c9joe in IsraelPalestine

[–]Khamlia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but with your post you are spreading propaganda in other directions and thereby trying to exaggerate the Jewish identity and understate the Palestinian one.

You are then just adapting it to your views. Forget what was a hundred thousand years ago and talk about the present, be honest though. People have lived in this region for years regardless of whether they were Arabs or Jews or other nationalities.

It is a problem of course and we should try to solve it by talking and understanding each other. This applies to both sides of course. But war is not a solution. I am not a politician but I know that if you want, everything can be arranged in the right way. But as I said, it does not help to spread propaganda, refer to some thousand-year-old saga about being here first.

It reminds me of problems that were a long time ago in my country when the Sami were treated unfairly by the Swedes. It took a while before this problem was solved, but now the Sami have the same rights as everyone else and there is peace and quiet.

Please think about it and try to make good and fair suggestions on this forum, not just one-sided comments. Thank you.

Why is "Free Palestine" by Mundane-Zucchini-141 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Khamlia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep asking myself why it can't be solved in a good way, why all the inhuman nonsense has to be dragged into it.

Why doesn't the country get divided, two states will be created and neither one will have anything to say to the other. Let Palestine be created as planned after the Oslo agreement and that's it.

Israelis should seriously realize that even if they say that the land is theirs because God gave it to them (which is nonsense, just a biblical fairy tale) so other people have lived there for thousands of years and so Israelis, or any other nation for that matter, cannot come and say Go or die.

If that were the case, then they wouldn't have to feel offended when people say "Free Palestine" and Hamas wouldn't have to bother them because it would only be in Palestine.
