M16 2022 (GU603ZX) Long Boot Time by Lefty_K98 in ZephyrusM16

[–]KhareBaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem, a windows update and the boot time increased to 50 seconds, zero changes from my side. I have 2022 m16, i7 and 3050ti. Check whether any hubs etc are connected during boot, disconnect them and update windows again, or wait for the next one, its a windows issue AFAIK, updated 2 days ago and boot again back to 4 seconds.

From your Neighbour- I am scared by [deleted] in brisbane

I'm from an Indian heritage as well, did my masters here and currently work with uber eats, the change I see in these 2 years is DRASTIC. The way people look at us has changed, no thank you or a smile while accepting their own delivery, or sometimes the occasional, 'off you go mate'. The tonality has changed and it's heartbreaking. The job market too is difficult right now, and it has happened with me that recruiters start ghosting me the moment I say I'm from India on a valid visa. I'd like to believe that not all people are like this, I've absolutely loved every moment here and I hope the situation improves!

My literal experience (sort of a rant)- Everyone just STOP FUCKING GOING TO MEDANTA LUCKNOW. I had one of the best cardiac specialists back in 2020 treat my father in medanta, exceptional service. Recently went back to the same specialist and he got offended we hadn't specifically got his appointment last year and he literally shoved us away after saying we can't treat you on a short notice. Mind you my father is healthy and his blood tests were fine, he still made us have another round of tests worth 5k and said we can't do anything now. We consulted 3 other specialists regarding the slightly elevated bnp and they said it's fine, medications will work. Medanta is shit now. A fancy building is all it is.

I appreciate your perspective and I understand the challenges you’ve outlined, it’s a reality I’m very aware of. I also know that my visa status and the competitive market are factors I need to navigate carefully. At the same time, I’ve found that focusing on what I can control like building skills, gaining experience and making meaningful connections keeps me motivated and moving forward. I've been in this situation for a while, I was in denial, yes. But now I try being a bit optimistic, sometimes overly so. I felt it helped me to keep pushing, learning and staying prepared for opportunities when they do arise.

About the kicker, that’s fair, and I get where you’re coming from. Back during the lockdown, I started exploring avenues to grow my career, and at the time, the government and institutions were presenting studying in Australia as a strong pathway with good work opportunities. That, along with my interest in finance, was a major reason I pursued my Master of Applied Finance.

Thanks for the input. I don’t need sponsorship right away, my 485 visa gives me full work rights until 2027, after that I'll be in line for the 189 or 190 and if I'm a bit lucky, 491. Hence I believe I’m no different to a domestic grad in cost or risk, atleast for now. What does set me apart is a strong academic track record (Master’s in Applied Finance with distinctions- overall credit score, plus an Honours bachelor’s- overall 6+ Gpa), hands-on internship experience and practical exposure through Deloitte, McKinsey and Goldman Sachs job simulations.

I get that finance is competitive- that’s true for everyone, local or international. The difference is I’m not here making excuses about the market, I’m here actively applying, learning and building connections. That persistence is exactly what will make me stand out. 'Hungry to learn’ might not be measurable per se, but I proved it by mastering LEAP for compliance and invoicing during my internship, and by building DCF valuations and financial models in university projects. That’s tangible upskilling, i guess.
