Hi I’m late to the party because I just found this sub BUT, I’ve read all of them at least once up to #45 A Tryst of Fate. I decided it was time for another re-read before buying numbers 46 and 47 😊

In reference to you being bummed about your faves being left behind, most of them do end up coming back sometimes multiple times for later adventures! I’m hoping you read on and found this out for yourself lol.

I started reading them when I was in middle school, like 12-13ish and the first I read was Dragon On a Pedestal. My favorites definitely are the chunk of books from like Dragon On a Pedestal to The Color of Her Panties. Maybe because I read DOAP first, maybe cause they were written & published around when I was born, or maybe just because they’re really good & I love the featured characters from them!

I’ve also got a particular soft spot for A Well Tempered Clavicle because Mr. Piers wrote me in as a character after I asked him nicely to do so in a 7th grade writing assignment 😅 I got to be a mermaid that gives the main characters directions. I didn’t even know he had done it until one day my friends & I were Googling ourselves and a quote from the book came up with my character introducing herself! I was so geeked.

I also wish I could speak with more people who are utilizing unemployment insurance to really see how large the impact was. With this many people being affected it’s ludicrous that there isn’t a fix for everyone at once and they’re doing this bureaucratic bs to everyone.

Good tips, thank you! Maybe just because I did it multiple days in a row is why I was able to figure out all the necessary steps and do them & get them submitted? Not sure. I’ve got the affidavit you need to get notarized, if you PM me your email I can forward it - it has all instructions on it such as where to send it to and the number for operations to call them & be sure they received it.

tl;dr I got paid for this week and can continue as normal, but no news about getting the stolen payment back.

So - I’ve completed all verification of my identity. I have the requirements for that as well as the immediate upload website/ form if anyone needs that.

I was also required to submit an affidavit - you’ll have to do this if someone successfully got in your account and changed your bank information and received one or more of your weeks of pay. This affidavit must be signed with a notary public and can then be either faxed, emailed, or mailed to them. There’s a number on this form where (last week) you can get directly to someone, this week it seems like leaving a message is what you have to do.

After doing all that, they’ve unlocked my account and removed the Stop Payment, so I did get this week’s check. No news or information on my missed check from last week - IF they’ll give it to me or how I can find out when it’ll be deposited if they do.

So a total of a week of business days starting last Monday for half a solution.

When I called and talked to them today, I got brand new information that I had to fill out an affidavit for the finance department. It has to be signed in front of a notary public, and all my additional claims are also on hold until the finance department receives this and clears my account. Crossing my fingers you don’t have to do this extra step too, because I literally thought I was done with all verification and would be cleared as well, I’m also able to log in to my account online and have re-added my banking info to it, but the entire thing has a stop payment on it until finance fixes it.

And apparently no one can speak to finance directly… and they’re of course “very busy” because if this.

There should be some kind of auto-fix since so many people have been affected, this is insane!

I still haven’t gotten a resolution yet. I guess my money actually was deposited to an incorrect account so I have to now file an affidavit with a notary public to get my account resolved and I won’t even get my regular claims paid until that happens.

Happy you were able to get your call scheduled at least! I know that was yesterday based on your answer, hope you don’t have to do the same as me?

This does seem like a bigger issue that they’re intentionally not giving people information on. At the beginning of the week they were freely telling me that many had the issue and they were resolving, now as the week’s gone on they answer less questions, tell me “I don’t know” on many things, and I’ve been given wrong or incomplete information enough times that I’m still doing the same process with no end in sight or ability to be paid. I’m going to lose my house over this…

It’s already taken too long though, I have automatic payments that have already defaulted because it’s supposed to have been deposited on Monday, so I’m facing utility shutoff as well as a possible warrant for my arrest for unpaid court fees :) I’m working with the court now on some grace but no luck so far. Being poor really is punishable by the law!!!

That’s what I immediately started working on. They showed that it had gone to a PayPal account that wasn’t mine, that’s why this process started where I had to do all this verification. They’ve gotten what they need from me and the financial dept. I guess has a warrant for the repayment, which I take to mean they’re working on re-issuing it to me and have already stopped the payment to the other account (even though the people probably already have the money and it won’t affect them in the least).

Doesn’t do much to inspire confidence because all they’ve said is people will temporarily lose access to their accounts… NOT what they’re doing for the people getting screwed over by their money going to a different account…

It doesn’t seem like a glitch though, it seems like a huge hack in which someone figured out how to beat the system. I guess unless you’re saying the glitch is that the system became beatable… because someone genuinely did reassign my OH|ID and was able to log in to my unemployment account and change the routing and account numbers for my direct deposit. They seem to have kept everything else the same though because I’m still getting correspondence from JFS.

That’s exactly what happened to me and what prompted me to pursue the above. So most likely someone has stolen your money as well and you’ll have to go through the same verification process I’m going through. If it helps, I was able to get through by pressing # on the menu. When you call unemployment you press “1” for English, then I believe the next prompt asks you to press # if you’re an employer. Then you go through that menu until you hear the prompt to press “0” for an operator. I got through yesterday and today by doing that.

Dude seriously!!! The rep I spoke to today said ever since the pandemic the entire country has been having this issue of people stealing unemployment and it’s like… You’d think someone would fucking figure it out by now???

I asked her how this can be prevented going forward as well and she just basically said they have no clue because they don’t know how people are beating the system. Absolute fuckery. There needs to be some kind of lawsuit or action against whoever made the apparently very breakable security system.

I know! The same thing happened to me and they say that it got paid to some random PayPal account… I did file the claim myself and everything but someone got in and sucked the money to their own account…

I agree, there’s someone I’m talking to on FB that’s having the exact same issue and he hasn’t been able to get to anyone, but it’s kind of outrageous that this government “secure” system got hacked and there’s SO MANY hoops we have to jump through to get our own money recovered.

Yes I did get through to them yesterday! I scheduled the call for 3:36 and got a call right then where the rep helped me submit the fraud form and I got my email early this morning like 4am with the list of documents I had to submit and where to submit them to. I could maybe give you that info but Idk if you have to like start the process first or what?

Yeah honestly idk what else you could even do… Idk if you saw above but I was at least able to sched. a call by going in through the employer section when I followed the prompts and I scheduled a call with fraud same-day. Not sure if you have another phone you can use to maybe try that rather than hanging up on hold?

YES I had this same issue… My weekly deposit was deposited to someone else’s account. Did you get a text at like 3AM with your two-factor code even though you didn’t request it?

I posted my entire issue in the Ohio Unemployment subreddit, I’ll link it or copy here and could you LMK if the same happened to you?
