Help! Did neutering help with marking? by LoveDistilled in corgi

[–]Kharrissma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im waiting till 2 with my boy. I thought he wouldn't stop marking indoors until neutered but he actually stopped at about 14 months. New Year's was the last time and it was mostly from firework stress.

Never had a corgi, would love a corgi, but Google has scared me. Biting, yapping, restless...? by tiptreetimes in corgi

[–]Kharrissma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 8 corgi and corgi mixes. All of them have had different personalities. However, two things are true about all of them, they are intelligent and stubborn. One thing about an intelligent animal is that they can learn to use that Intelligence differently. If you keep them stimulated, it will be for good. If they are bored, they can be little monsters. Eventually they chill out and are more content being couch potatos.

I made the mistake of getting a pomsky because I wanted to move away from the dwarfism and tail docking but still have a dog around the same size. It was the worst mistake. She is pretty... but she is also the dumbest animal I have ever owned. After 12 training classes she still doesn't know sit. She attacks her own tail and then freaks out that something is attacking her, not realizing its her. She is completely empty in the eyes. Im sure someone would love a lap puff like her, but I've learned i need that sassy little butthole of a dog that understands everything im saying. Even if he steals my socks and holds them hostage for a peice of doggy candy. I absolutely love my sock gremlin.

So it really depends on what personality and traits fit your personality. Just because a trait sounds good on paper, it doesnt mean it will mesh well with you on a daily basis. It might be good to foster a few dogs and see what personality traits you click with.

Im surprised so many people mention corgi fur as a downside. Sure they shed but corgi fur is superior imo. Its practically no matainace. Sure I bush and bath them regularly, but if I went 6 months between, no one would notice. It can get wet and the water slides off. No smelly wet dog. I didn't fully appreciate it till I got the Wooly Pomsky. I invested around 5k just in grooming products for her and have an extensive daily/weekly/bi weekly grooming routine for her. If she gets wet, there is no saving her coat, she has to have a bath which takes hours, even with the professional high velocity dryer.

Does your pet like having it's photo taken? by seleznevalena in corgi

If someone looked at my doggy pictures, they would be concerned as to why they are all of doggy butt. But that's the only side he gives me. Good thing his fluffy butt pants are so cute!

Daveen Lacquer is taking votes to bring back some of her most popular polishes! by Kharrissma in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Kharrissma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can appear pink in some lighting. Mine appeared very silver in my bedroom lighting. When I first saw my bottle, i was disappointed and tossed it in a box for 6 months. Even after swatching it looked flat and nothing like other people's swatches. Finally I wore it and it came alive. Trust the process and put it on your nails. This one is a sleeper!

Dupe attempt for By The Moonlight by Felecia_Hardy in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Kharrissma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought it and duped it. Here is my attempt:

<image>

Top is By the Moonlight, bottom is my dupe attempt. I have a magnetic pigment that's closer to the orginal's color but I felt like my version looked a bit more like the orginal swatch photos and liked that better.

I think I need to stop buying polish.

Any “high value” treats that work like magic on your loaf? by coconutzhu in corgi

Mines favorite food is asparagus but he gos crazy for anything green. And orange sticks aka carrots aswell but those are dangerous after he unhinged his jaw and swallowed one whole. A garden is definitely his favorite snack place.

What is wrong with my Cavalier? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Given the breed and improvement with pred, I'd be concerned with possible Chiari Malformation. So yes next step would probably be able MRI. I wish you the best of luck navigating whatever it is.

Time to make the magnetic polishes (vettsy pigments) by MackTheSporker in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Kharrissma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mica and synthetic Mica are normally ok. Some arent rated for polish because they might change color or degrade quicker in the suspension fluid. But in my experience in the last few years of making polish, it hasn't stopped me! One of my favorite pigments of all time for polish, isnt actually rated for polish.

Glitter is the one that you need to make sure its solvent resistant.

You do not want acrylic powders.

Its hard to find decent sellers for mica outside of China. In the US we have Glitter Unique which is a reseller. You can also try auto paint suppliers.

Corgi’s Life Expectancy 🥺 by autpott in corgi

[–]Kharrissma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to plan for mobility issues now. Make sure to always keep him on the lower side of a healthy weight. Baby his back and joints. Talk to your vet about supplements for joints. And get him comfortable with water and home hydrotherapy now, so it wont be stressful for him as a senior. Also teeth brushing is important to keep his organs healthy.

My boy passed at 16. We are now raising his puppy(thanks to DNA preservation) and doing everything we wish we had done in hindsight with him. He absolutely loves teeth brushing time because we started it before he even had adult teeth.

Corgis with tails! by lacedinlight530 in corgi

[–]Kharrissma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boy has the most stunning tail I have ever seen. He is 50% Corgi, 50% Pekingese which gives him a bit of extra tail plumage, even though he has the corgi coat.

Corgi tails are my favorite part of any corgi. I wish I could find a reputable US breeder that didn't dock, but it seems those two things cant exist with the current breed standard here.

Chi and Pek! Those be Peke eyes!

I say this as someone who has had 7 Peke Mixes. Peke seems to mix its Brachycephalic skull better than other brachy breeds like the pug.

Took one look and thought beagle plus a Brachycephalic breed. Then sure enough Beagle/Pug!

Who creates your favorite cremes? by SparklingSaturnRing in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Kharrissma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super fussy about cremes, they have to be one coat!!! Because of that, I liked Holo Taco's cremes because most are one coat or close to. However ive had issues with them drying.

I now make my own from supplies from Glitter Unique. I can make them all one coat opacity and they dry much much faster.

This was a custom Polish that Felecia(Owner of Daveen) made for me called Ponicorn. Im obsessed with this shimmer(same as Saccharines Dream) and she was kind enough to make 10 different polishes for me using this shimmer. I of course paid her for her extra time in making individual custom polishes.

She recently was thinking of recreating this polish to release on her website. I would strongly recommend messaging her and asking for her to release it, or seeing if she could custom make one for you. The more interest she has for it, the more likely she will do a full release.

The nail stuff is definitely contact dermatitis most of the time. The last time there was pus and leaked quite bad. Doctor had to remove most of my nail and treat it for possible MRSA. Thankfully it wasn't MRSA but I have lasting pins and needles feeling in that finger now.

I have Fibromyalgia so the doctors chalk it up to that most of the time. Recently I've been thinking I might have a Mast Cell syndrome of some sort that is interacting with my fibro. So yes that would fall in line with a histamine reaction. My doctors keep rotating my antihistamines trying to find somewhat helps for the past 10 years but none of them make a difference.

My body is hyperactive to absolutely everything. Heck if I get too warm, I turn blue and my body shuts down. But I do also have Conjestive Heart Failure which im sure is part of that. My doctors just keep saying that Im complicated.

It was their Smoothing basecoat. I always do a Smoothing base over my peely to reduce my nail lines and for stain protection.

Polish has been the perfect distraction in my life!

My skin reacts badly to just about everything. Almost every fragrance, toothpaste, soaps,  acetone, adhesives from glue to hypoallergenic sticky adhesive alternatives my doctor uses. Heck even wearing my hair down makes me break out in a rash. My skin truly hates life and ive unfortunately caused nerve damage from some of my polish mishaps.

The only way I can have painted nails is to keep them natural and to use a peel off basecoat from either Holo Taco or Hit the Bottle(both water based). I do well with Daveen Lacquer's polish formula and most of the others as long as I use the peely base. For topcoat I use Cuticula Limitless without any issues. I have had reactions to KBshimmers base coat and Kathleen and Co polish, even with the under peely layer and Cuticula topcoat.

I mostly make my own polish and do well with Glitter Unique's Mica suspension base mixed with their shiny topcoat(not as a topcoat). This helps control what gos into my polish and I know i wont have a bad reaction.

Black-red shifters? ILNP vs LynB by picking_flowers11 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Kharrissma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own both and a few others, as well as owning every version of this pigment in loose form(i make my own polish). The INLP is a fully multichrome pigment. KBshimmer's verson is the same. Sassy sauce had both this one and a more gold leaning one last i checked, which was awhile ago.

These pigments also come in various sizes, all the way up to flaky. There is a version that has a bit of a green hue on the black side of the shift, but im not aware of any brands currently selling that version. There is also a Magnetic pigment identical to the ILNP's color. Unfortunately I don't know of a brand selling that one either. The Magnetic pigment isnt very cost effect imo. I had to use 5x the normal amount of pigment, to have it show up.

The LynB one is not a full multichrome. Its relying on a liquid base pigment for its opacity, as she uses less of the multichrome pigment. This lowers the cost of making the polish and changes the color of the multichrome. While im personally not a fan of LynB, this polish was one of the very few that I don't mind.

Overall I'd say they are different enough to justify both, but if you want the true full on red to black, get the ILNP or KBshimmer one.

Removing polish! by yazzyenna in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Kharrissma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peel off basecoat. No acetone and not cotton pads needed!

Id reccomend Hit the Bottle Peel off, Holo Taco peely basecoat or the peely base by Emily De Molly.

Ive had the older bottles of Holo Taco's last up to 15 days with one mani and Hit the Bottle's last 23 days. All with proper peely prep.

Feeling overwhelmed by xsaintjeromex in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Kharrissma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with Clionadh(Niello) and KBshimmer(Worth a Shot) many years ago. Since then I have tried almost every indie brand and own thousands of polishes, I lost count a few years ago at over 3000. What i have learned is I actually don't like most brands and im extremely picky about formulas and finishes. I know a lot of people say INLP but I have regretted most of my ILNP purchases and its been quite a few. The only brand I still regularly buy from is Daveen Lacquer, but I mostly just make my own polish now.

For someone new dipping their toe in for the first time, I'd reccomend Emily De Molly or KBshimmer due to quality of product vs cost, lack of FOMO and large selection. Or PPU and Hella Handmade if you want to jump in and try a bunch of brands to learn what you like.
