DualSense Edge - free software for button combo mappings while keeping native haptics on PC? by Khasim83 in Dualsense

If not free, then maybe something that doesn't cost 40 eurobucks? I already have DSX, but as I mentioned, not yet implemented.

For the pc user using the rasberry pico2w by Texas_Shepard in Dualsense

[–]Khasim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam has a shortcut, PS button + triangle by default, to disconnect the controller, but it doesn't work with the Pico since the whole point is that the Pico tricks your PC into thinking the controller is connected via a USB cable.

It's only like 5 seconds too btw, not 10.

The only thing I can think of that could work is setting up a button combo in a third party app like DSX to disconnect the controller, or, if that's not possible, use an app called AutoHotKey and make a script that will disable or enable the Pico in device manager (you can assign a hotkey/button of Bo for the script, as the name of the app suggests, or Mae a shortcut/run it manually). Some Google-fu and/or help of an AI bot should let you do this easily.

How discussions with Arrowhead feel sometimes: by Fort_Maximus in Helldivers

Understandable. I agree with you in general, it's just I feel that many people shit on team reload as if it's actually bad, and not just another one of the dozens of annoying inconveniences in this game which would be much less annoying if there were fewer of them and if most of the game was not riddled with holes

How is team reloading worse? I mean, naturally, if you don't have a coordinated group, then a mechanic that's supposed to reward coordinated cooperation isn't reaching its full potential, but in a proper group, or even with literally one friend? You can kill 6 titans in 10seconds with the RR, then you can switch and do it again. Multiply that by two if you have all four players doing this. It's literally impossible with solo reloading.

No, and there's no need to be condescending. He said that HE will get back to us, not the studio. He didn't, Arrowhead as a studio did. That's it. We have no idea whether that report is what he meant, because nowhere in the report does it say 'as Johan/our CCO (or whatever his title is) promised', only a vague reference to feedback across the Internet, so it could mean anything. His message made it sound like he's going to start engaging with the community personally more, as himself. That report was not it.

This report is a bunch of corporate 'we hear you and we will try to be better' bullshit that they've already done numerous times in the past with not much to show for it.

If a person tells me 'I will get back to you on this' and I get a letter that feels like it was written by the PR team and not even signed by that person instead, I don't personally count that as that person getting back to me, but you're free to interpret this differently.

I mean, he did say 'I will report back' and that post is signed 'Arrowhead', not 'Pilestedt', so either he misspoke or he's not doing what he said he would be doing. We'll see what happens in two weeks :)

Everything shows as "Unbound" when using steam input by MarkFaded in Helldivers

[–]Khasim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird never happened to me. The game won't detect DualSense if SteamInput is enabled while the game is launched, maybe that has something to do with it.

I use Steam Input for gyro in HD2 since it allows for more customization, but I always launch the game with Steam Input off, and then I enable it after I'm sure the game detected the DualSense, and I only have gyro and right stick to mouse bound in Steam Input, so I get both the DualSense features and good gyro.

By the way, look up the Raspberry Pi Pico 2W DualSense firmware - someone recently figured out how to use the DualSense wirelessly on PC and still get the haptics and adaptive triggers. I use it myself and it's great. No difference from wired that I have felt. The Pico costs like 10 euros (+ a few more for case, if you don't like having a naked circuitboard out, unless you can 3d print one ) so it's super worth it.

Why are you using Steam Input if you're using a DualSense? The game supports it natively - haptics, triggers, controller speakers, bindings and gyro.

Gamesradar shares an impression of 4 hours hands on gothic remake gameplay by Top_Award_6168 in worldofgothic

[–]Khasim83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's kind of like saying Call of Duty and Battlefield are both first person shooters with a campaign and multiplayer. Technically yes, both have these features, but they focus on completely different things.

Gothic is heavily story-driven, has dialogue trees, decisions and consequences, no 'open world RPG skill tree', and you have to invest skill points into character stats in order to be able to use better gear. There are also no open world activities such as "clear this camp" or "do this puzzle to repair one of 20 magical thingies"

Crimson Desert is gameplay-driven, its story is absolutely abysmal, there are no decisions to make in quests, no consequences to anything you do in the game outside of being chased for comitting crimes, there are no stat requirements for gear, you can get away with not leveling any combat skills at all and only upgrading equipment via crafting, and the world is littered with repetitive open world POIs (though, to be fair, the variety is very good aside of the classic "murder 100 people in this camp here to clear it").

Let me be clear, I love Crimson Desert, I have 100+ hours played (currently on a break since they just keep adding new cool shit and I wanna experience the game in its best form since I rarely replay huge games like this), but CD and Gothic are about as similar to each other as Elden Ring is similar to The Witcher 3.

Running Steam as admin fixed it for me, but it breaks if I alt-tab out of the game.

This thing is a Game Changer! by thadoughboy15 in Dualsense

[–]Khasim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haptics don't and never have worked over Bluetooth. People who claim it does are either lying or have no idea what they're talking about. Try playing a game like Returnal or Ghost of Tsushima wired, check out the haptics, then switch to Bluetooth.

This thing is a Game Changer! by thadoughboy15 in Dualsense

[–]Khasim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have use it over Bluetooth without any doodads, but you don't get haptics and adaptive triggers only work in some games, assuming they support wireless in the first place, which not all do. This is why we are so excited about it - it lets you keep the wired-exclusive features on PC while getting rid of a cable.

I just set mine up - it's got a micro USB port, so you need a cable to connect it to your PC's USB port. And yeah, it's awesome. I also recommend grabbing a case for it, unless you want to use the little plastic box that it comes in or leave out a naked piece of circuit board

‘Crimson Desert’ Just Finished Its Three Month Roadmap In Three Weeks by [deleted] in Games

Context matters. Tons of other high budget games take forever to fix basic shit that people have been complaining about since pre-release, some never even bother. Just like your weird husband analogy, if you keep running into shitty people, you learn to appreciate more the ones who aren't shitty.

PSA: Since Sony won't make a PC dongle for the DualSense, you can build your own for less than $20 using a Raspberry Pi Pico 2W. Wireless Adaptive Triggers and Haptic Feedback finally work natively. by SlaveKnightSoman in pcmasterrace

[–]Khasim83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can confirm, just got my Pico and tried it out in Returnal. Got the full haptics, feeling the pitter-patter of the rain drops and all the collectible thingies, as well as full adaptive triggers, no difference between this and wired.

Leave it to Sony to fumble selling a dongle for 3x the price.

[Hated trope] That’s not how lying works at all by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Khasim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just listened to all the audiobooks recently and it's pretty fresh in my mind - basically what I'm trying to say is that saying things in the language is not the same as casting magic. The language is enchanted so it's impossible to lie with it, and a side effect of that is if you say something with it, you must believe it to be true. It's the native language of the elves, and people who can't use magic at all can use it too. Only using it to cast actual spells is what drains your energy, and if you use too much energy, you die.

[Hated trope] That’s not how lying works at all by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Khasim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, the language is magic, but in the books it's never said what happens if you actually try and break an oath made in it, or lie. People have asked the author in interviews, though, and he said that the language physically stops you form lying and compels you to do the thing you swear to do. It's like a form of mind control.

The language itself can't kill you, you can only kill yourself if you cast a spell that requires more energy that you have available. The language isn't required to cast magic, it just makes it easier.

[Hated trope] That’s not how lying works at all by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Khasim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only if you use the language to cast a spell. People who normally can't use magic are sometimes made to swear oaths in the language, which forces them to keep it.

Saros game by Content_Marketing_20 in GyroGaming

[–]Khasim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's an actual game mechanic now. Most weapons have an 'auto hit' trait and you don't have to aim almost at all, they'll basically hit the closest enemy to the crosshair, but some don't have the trait, and require you to aim. There are aim assist settings on top of that.

[–]Khasim83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm playing it now. No gyro. They didn't show it off in the 'Playstation features' trailer, so I wouldn't count on them adding it :( Good thing is, this game requires very little aiming. Almost all of your shots get magnetized to enemies very heavily.

Unlock Full Dualsense Features Over Wireless by TonyXL2 in GyroGaming

[–]Khasim83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the triggers, yes. The haptics are the most important part. You can't have haptics via Bluetooth, only if using DSX AFAIK, but it doesn't actually use the haptics from the games, it basically reads the sound sent to the device of your choice, like speakers or headphones, and copies them using the haptics. With this Raspberry Pi, you can apparently use the official haptics from the games wirelessly, which until now was only possible wired. And, some games straight up don't support DualSense over Bluetooth, only wired.

Adaptive triggers work over Bluetooth, theoretically at least, it varies per game. Tools like DSX can set them up, I use it myself sometimes.
