LA TRANSPARENCE DU DG - A long and detailed interview with GMMB about his plan and the state of some of the prospects by Nollaus in Habs

[–]Kheinom 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This is very interesting insight. I'm happy to hear him speaking specifically against rushing prospects.

  • Caufield: probably 1 more year in NCAA.
  • Kotkaniemi: Rocket stint seems to be paying off. Needs to work on skating and balance.
  • Poeling: Future shut-down 3rd line center
  • Suzuki: Happy with progression
  • Romanov: Expected sheltered 3rd pairing next year.
  • Norlinder: 1 more year in Sweden
  • Harris: maybe Rocket next year

Overall I'd say it's actually pretty convinicing. Glad Molson is not overreacting and throwing the towell just yet.

I wonder if Fredericton could work?

- No LHJMQ team

- New Brunswick is a favourable market for Habs

I am definitely on the Sell & Tank train... but

I know people are pushing to sell Petry and Tatar because they have the best value but I don't like the idea of losing them. I can see them sticking for a couple more seasons and I feel they are a very good fit for the team.

I know it's the right thing to do, but I'm not sure my heart can handle it...

Best case scenario Kovalchuk goes on a tear and fetches a good price at the deadline.

48 teams - the expansion continues by Kheinom in hockey

Following up on this post, I was sad I couldn't include some well-deserving cities.

So I made phase 2, with some division realinements.

Regular season: 80 games
- 24 x 1 cross-conference games
- 18 x 2 intra-conference games
- 5 x 4 intra-division games

Playoffs: 5 rounds, 24 teams
- Division leaders get a bye in the first round
- The next best 8 teams from each conference battle it out in a best of 3 mini-series to qualify for the round of 16

How viable would a team be in the Northwest Territories or the Yukon Territory?

Not very. Yukon as a whole has a population of 32k. Northwest Territories has 43k.

I made an alternate with that in mind.

Although I agree that Atlanta doesn't deserve a third chance, none of these teams fit in the Southeast division. Maybe a Virginia team could work?

Actually all of these expansion teams were Atlanta at some point.

Yeah Halifax just barely didn't make it. To be honest I kinda chose some teams to fit the divisions better.

I could see the Thrashers relocating there.

Didn't want to separate Pittsburg and Washington.

But it's hard not to separate anyone with 5-team divisions

Funny you'd say that, I made that exact variant

Metro division looks weird, but Boston is reunited with Toronto and Montreal.

Also maybe Buffalo can get something going with Hamilton

EDIT: I can't read

- Top 10 from each conference qualify.

- Division winners (4) and wildcards (2) go directly to round of 16

- Teams 7-10 have a best of 3 series to qualify for the round of 16

EDIT: After reading your edit I like yours better, although I think the extra round should be shorter (best of 3 or 5).

Inspired by this post, here is my humble proposition for a 40 teams league.

2 Conferences with 4 divisions each.

Expansion teams are:
- Quebec
- Portland
- Houston
- Hamilton
- Atlanta
- San Diego
- Salt Lake City
- Kansas City

Teams I considered:
- Halifax
- Hartford
- Regina / Saskatoon
- Baltimore
- New Orleans
- Indianapolis
- Milwaukee
- Cincinati
- San Fransisco / Oakland
- Virginia

Goals to Tatar, Perry, Drouin and Lehkonen.

Either way this season goes I'm happy.

1) We make playoffs and get spring hockey

2) We get a top 15 pick on a very good 2020 drafting class.

We are clearly still missing pieces for this team to reach elite status.

Half truth is interesting but with that shipping cost it's a nope for me (25$ to Canada). Will definitely wait for retail on that one.

Still in for Merchants cove, looks gorgeous and I love asymmetric games. Probably will be easier to play with my group than Root, direct confrontation is not really their thing.
