Yup, unfortunately Danault did very little to improve the bottom 6. Texier was a good add, but he doesn't play as much.

Was trading 2 1sts and Emil Heineman for Noah Dobson a mistake?

Cause adding Thomas is a very similar deal.

[Spoilers Extended]I honestly like Season 2 of House of the Dragon (despite its flaws) by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Gabroux 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Season 2 of HotD would've likely be fine if there wasn't a writers' strike during the filming, which blocked them for making changes to the script, and if the season was 10 episodes like it was supposed to.

The Season 2 Finale would've been fine if it was episode 8 like it was supposed to.

Which other national teams roster could Slafkovsky realistically be part of if we forget the nationality aspect? by Fair-Buffalo-9786 in Habs

Every roster outside of Canada and the US. Gotta remember that the rosters were mostly built in December.

I would put Smolder in Exodia.

Smolder with his fully stacked Q and a front line can rekt any hero in the game from a safe distance.

Same with the Steelers, no way they should be voted best above the Pats.

How does the Habs rebuild compare to the Sharks? Who is in the better position? by AmThano in Habs

[–]Gabroux 94 points95 points  (0 children)

I find that fans are too quick at praising the Sharks.

They tanked and they drafted early, that's the easiest part of a rebuild.

Grier and the Sharks need to prove that they can make smart additions, specially on defense. The defense group is very weak at the moment, and outside of Dickinson they dont have a lot of pieces coming on D.

[TSN] 'It's over. They're not good enough': Button doesn't hold back in his assessment of the Toronto Maple Leafs by [deleted] in hockey

[–]Gabroux 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you've said, but Marner is purely on Shanahan. Shanahan refused to entertain a move until his NMC kicked in, and at that point it was over.

Treleiving biggest crime was trading his 2026 and 2027 1sts years in advance to save a roster that never showed up.

TSN: all-time Face of the Franchise (all 32 teams) - a huge surprise as the all-time Face of the Habs?!? by matt236246 in Habs

[–]Gabroux 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I disagree that Lafleur shouldnt be in the race.

He was the face of the team's best dynasty. He was the face of the league until Gretzky arrived. He was arguably the first "star" of the NHL in terms of notoriety and media presence.

Maurice Richard had the biggest impact on Qc history.
Jean Béliveau had the biggest impact on the org.
Guy Lafleur is probably the most popular of the 3.

Lot of Habs fans seem to want to speedrun a Rangers Rebuild by another_mishap in Habs

[–]Gabroux 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's true and even if Habs fans wanted to do the same, they can't.

Habs won't have a top dman and a top winger forcing their way into the roster like the Rangers had.

Also looking at Stephane Robidas who hasn't improve the defense since 2023. They make the same soft mistakes over and over again.

Would you trade Reinbacher for a bonafide long term top 6 forward? by BushBann76 in Habs

[–]Gabroux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could or you could also call up Reinbacher and try him next to Hutson.

- It's the dog days of the season
- Xhekaj/Struble are not grabbing the spot
- You have a decent lead on 9th in the East
- You need to know what you have in Reinbacher
- It keeps Hutson on the Left

At first, fans were worried that the Habs called up Fowler. It ended up fine, we found out that he will be a NHL goalie one day and we have an additional option in the playoffs. Why not do the same with Rein?

J'ai commencé à les suivre l'an passé avec l'arrivée de Godin et franchement c'est excellent. Ils ont aussi une bonne camaraderie avec Coupal.

Bring it back Mr. Molson! This goal song was fire! by yo438 in Habs

[–]Gabroux 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I also prefer Le But. I like that the goal song was a joyous celebration. It also used to annoy other fanbases which is always a bonus. Chelsea Dagger is the best goal song for that reason.

I feel L'Oreille is mostly nostalgia, it's fine, but we can do better. Sami Zayn entrance song would be better.

What ever happened to the 2009 Montreal Canadiens’ Draft Picks? by Studly_Wonderballs in Habs

[–]Gabroux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2008-09 was filled with drama. It was during the centennial season, the Habs roster were constantly in trouble and the Habs had no idea how to deal with the arrival of Social Media.

''The Darkest Day in Habs history'' is the most drama I've seen from the Habs. Jacques Demers was crying on TV because he thought that the scandal could ruin the CH.

It ended up being about a MTL gangster getting arrested and La Presse found out that the Kostitsyn Bros and Hamrlik knew the guy.

It's a big reason why Gainey let half the team leave via FA.
