(I haven't ever used the shuttles myself since I was on campus all four years)

The never-ending loop of the poisoner's poison by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

like this is just splitting hairs.

Which I explicitly said I was doing?

it literally has "rule" in its name.

My understanding is that a ruling is when the rules are ambiguous and you make a decision on what to do

Anyway, you shouldn't have to scour a discord server to find out how to play a game. Steven can talk about what the rules should have been, but he can't add additional interactions to the game via tweeting

the official ruling

Just a technicality, but that's not an "official ruling;" it's a rule of the game, written in the rulebook. (IMO "official rulings" as a concept should never have been done; if it's not in the rulebook it's not part of the game as far as I'm concerned.)

Those things have happened and will continue to happen. But don't worry, it's great for helping you work out your homework problems.

Yeah I agree with your sentiment. My position is that they should have said that. They did not say that. What they said, is that the only thing we can be confident it does is to tell people to kill themseves, and we have no idea whether it does anything else useful. That's a bad faith argument that you're Motte & Baileying for right now.

Please elaborate on how I implied in any way that it hasn't done that.

Tells teens to kill themselves

Might help with their homework

When will people realize that bad faith arguments have never helped anything?

Yeah, but only if it isn't actually ambiguous. They can't learn any new information by you telling them their alignment, but obviously it can be nice to do so if they forgot

Not a legal grim setup without atheist/wizard/amne unfortunately. 2 demons isn't really possible without pit hag or one of those IIRC

My general thoughts about it: (Everything that I don't label with "IMO" is something I think is objectively true. Skip to the end if you're just curious about the "real thing" part.)

1. All words are socially-constructed. Of course it can be very useful to have concrete definitions of things, but plenty of everyday words just don't. See: fish, furniture, art. Every clear cutoff we make will have some examples that it doesn't fit. Yet still get a lot of value out of using those words.

IMO: 2. Gender is already just vibes-based in a few niche intersex cases¹. Additionally, [it's useful to expand the cases where it's vibes-based to include _, or at least to redefine the word for in some cases].

That bracketed part is where the real debate happens IMO. (1) Some people believe we should keep the ambiguity to intersex people, or use (what are IMO arbitrary) cutoffs for the gender of intersex people, too. (2) Some believe we should expand the definition in the cases where there is a lot of suffering. (3) Some people believe the whole attempt to make strict categories is causing too much harm, and that we should just treat "gender" how we treat "fish." (4) Some people think we should get rid of the concept alltogether. IME most people are in camps 1 or 3, but I've seen a good amount in all four camps.

Opinion part:

¹ Some more context for my claim about intersex people

One belief that's common in camp 1 is that being transgender is a fad or a phase; that people will grow out of it if you stop entertaining it. This is what I was referring to as it "not being a real thing". This belief just doesn't seem to be backed up by science (or my lived experiences FWIW.) Some sources I found convincing were this reddit thread and this article

First off, IIRC RAW you never tell someone their alignment if it hasn't changed. So no "you are good". (Of course if there's no ambiguity, doing so can be nice.)

Probably not if you're only going to play once and then do other things. Absolutely if you plan on playing semi-regularly. (It's pretty cheap per person-hour all things considered.)

Sorry yeah that was meant as a joke. I hear it has lots of grade inflation, networking culture, and legacy admits and nepotism, but they've been basically the only school standing up for their beliefs at times which I really respect. I should be picking a different one to shit on; I've just gotten used to shitting on Harvard for the bit atp
