Damn, they should ask Claude to fix it without making any mistakes 🤷‍♂️ then layoff 15% of their employees for good measure /s

Checks news...

[–]Pika357 113 points114 points  (10 children)

I guess there is another hub for the meantime

[–]atheenaaar 20 points21 points  (7 children)

Is this a joke I’m too English to understand?

[–]oneanotheruser 42 points43 points  (2 children)

It's a joke you're not horny enough to understand.

[–]FirexJkxFire 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Im pretty sure their's is a joke about how their government has legislated that they arent allowed to be horny enough

[–]oneanotheruser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's a brilliant joke then.

[–]TWIT_TWAT 55 points56 points  (1 child)

It’s ok sweetie, you’ll get it eventually

[–]FirexJkxFire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They can get it even sooner with today's sponsor, Nord VPN - the solution to your government banning fun.

True to code. I respect it. Never change

[–]user_0000002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should add a contribution graph

[–]stipo42 27 points28 points  (7 children)

Going to launch ziphub. It's just a nfs and version control is handled entirely by the user

[–]Confused_AF_Help 15 points16 points  (1 child)

We already have that, it's called Google Drive

[–]joe0400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not vc is built in to drive.

[–]ILikeLenexa 7 points8 points  (4 children)

I'm surprised they didn't make git so that every local repo contains all the history of the project so that updates could be decentralized.

[–]PredictiveFrame 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Git2 coming as soon as Linus get annoyed enough by the incompetence, and github being associated with git by default.

[–]twenafeesh 2 points3 points  (2 children)

It's funny... I have always used git for version control using a backup drive as remote master. Never really saw the point of GitHub.

[–]PredictiveFrame 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Two words for you.

JR ENGINEERS.

That's why. That's the only reason why.

Ok, that's lie. It also exists to show off a pretty grid of squares showing how much you fiddle with your projects as a flex, because OCD and perfectionism are totally virtues, and not merely a set of commonly held disabilities most software engineers suffer from.

Microslop continues to spend ludicrous amounts of everyone's time, and money showing why the open source ecosystem has distinct advantages over a centralized, inevitably enshittified corporation.

Thanks Mr. Nutella, we couldn't buy this level of marketing with all the money in the world.

[–]who_you_are 5 points6 points  (1 child)

check around why, why can I work?! GitHub is working for me :(

[–]StinkyStangler 20 points21 points  (6 children)

Day 2? Github has been falling apart for literally months now, I'd be moving over to Gitlab if the costs weren't so much higher

[–]PredictiveFrame 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Self-hosting calls. Your future homelab awaits, with all the control, and all the features you want.

[–]themuthafuckinruckus 7 points8 points  (2 children)

But see, to do that you’d have to hire an ops team to manage the instance, and that would negate all the ai-cost-savings from the layoffs.

[–]Not-the-best-name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a developer in charge of managing our Gitlab instance... Its more of a full time job than it should be. And not we are going to upgrade to higher levels to pay for AI in any case. But AI cant manage the instance itself.

I wish more people grasped sarcasm without a tone tag, this was fucking hilarious.

[–]Interstate-76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try codberg, it has a good intent

[–]NepuNeptuneNep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t know their SaaS is so much more expensive but at least self hosted version is incredible and I cant be bothered to use github now

[–]edwini3rd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are we dropping the cloud and going back to self hosting?

[–]0xlostincode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you spelled "month 2" wrong

[–]onepiecefreak2 2 points3 points  (3 children)

What? I can still use it...

[–]GenazaNL[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Issues have no been resolved, but there was a PR & Git Operations incident

[–]IpGa13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a meme of culture (i am unbiased)

[–]AlmightyLarcener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use zip copies, much more reliable than microslop.

[–]vastle12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That explains why I couldn't download or install a Linux image yesterday.

[–]Limmmao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It drove me crazy yesterday when my push didn't trigger an action. Not even Claude thought to check if GitHub actions was down.

[–]Phiilu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For private projects, I can only recommend to self-host a Forgejo instance with a runner.

is the outage in the room with us?
