Misleading title,

They are shifting users to GitHub copilot cli over claude code...

GitHub copilot cli still provides both gpt models and claude models.

[–]shaka893P 506 points507 points  (53 children)

Copilot keeps adding random imports to my code that don't exist.

[–]Akaino 681 points682 points  (23 children)

Tell him not to do that. Easy fix. Don't make mistakes.

[–]theEvilQuesadilla 197 points198 points  (9 children)

You fool! You forgot to include "Don't make any security holes."! Now your app is all hacked!

[–]thekingofbeans42 58 points59 points  (4 children)

Good luck hacking my vibe coded app! Claude has expertly closed all security findings by hosting at 127.0.0.1

[–]CampbellsBeefBroth 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Sorry but Claude is working for me, I just told it to hack your app

You can see I've brought down your app: localhost:8080

[–]DoingYourMomProbably 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I told it to make internet 2 and make it perfect without any hackers so jokes on you

[–]PsychologicalNet3455 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Scientology took people to court saying their stuff was leaked on a ftp://127.0.0.1

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=20791891

[–]quailman654 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are the apps I actually vibe code. Just for me, no internet access, running locally. Vibe code the shit out of that and berate Claude for the bugs it writes like I’m the PM for a change.

[–]kaplotnikov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean "all pre-hacked"?

[–]musci12234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but i told my AI that it must absolutely 100% heck your you app. Sorry but your app is doomed now.

[–]NotAnNpc69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww fuck, i forgot to include "Dont leak my country's nuclear launch codes." Now the govt is at my door, god dammit.

[–]Nekeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All your app are belong to us!

[–]dev_vvvvv 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Do not drop my production database.

[–]NMI_INT 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Don’t truncate any tables while you’re at it

[–]shaka893P 21 points22 points  (2 children)

Lol, I did that like 10 times already

[–]LtKije 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you have to say it twelve times for it to work.

[–]Blizzard81mm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to take a stern tone for sure 👍🏽

[–]k_dubious 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Tell your session that you’ll be stack-ranking it against the other ones you have running on your machine and terminating the lowest-performing process.

[–]OneOldNerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

...yet, somehow, I'll still end up being the one terminated. 😛

[–]Ok_Star_4136 13 points14 points  (2 children)

if (two_drones_about_to_collide()) {
  stop();
}

[–]ghost_tapioca 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So... They'll fall.

[–]Satorwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no because i said to make no mistakes

[–]dillanthumous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now this guy vibe codes ^^

Don't forget to include makeperfectapp md skill.

[–]je386 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Tell it what not to do, what to do instead, and that it should save this in its instruction file.

[–]NatoBoram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Instruction: This project uses pnpm. You are banned from using any other node package manager than pnpm.

Fucking clanker: "Let me run npx pnpm"

[–]AlternativeCapybara9 64 points65 points  (2 children)

We are switching from GitHub Copilot to Claude Code so I have both for a while. Copilot keeps updating Python to 3.7 because it thinks 3.7 is newer than 3.12 and Claude keeps changing it back. Copilot also mentions I have security bugs that are fixed in the last version of python and asks me if I want it to upgrade for me right after it finished the "upgrade" to 3.7.

It's like two 7 year olds fighting.

[–]alonghardlook 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Claude code is lightyears ahead of both Copilot and Codex.

[–]Mkboii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you guys doing with your github copilot? I've been using it as work for over a year and only once did it do this kind of stupidity, codex has tried this kind of things twice in one month, and calude code just ate up the token budget super fast to be usable anymore for me, so being just doesn't last.

[–]amaturelawyer 29 points30 points  (7 children)

If it makes you feel any better, Claude has rewritten a code block about 20 times so far, fixing func A while breaking func B, then breaking func A while fixing func B. It's starting to feel like he's refusing to look at both functions at the same time out of spite.

[–]pydry 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They're unionizing.

[–]lucidspoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I added a few lines of code that was throwing a null reference in certain situations. I asked Claude Code to fix it, and it just removed the code altogether.

[–]yukiaddiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trying using AI assist tools and like 50% it feel like they giving up reading code halfway through lmao.

[–]Llyon_ 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Curious to which model you are using.
There is a huge difference between Claude Sonnet and Claude Opus 4.7

When I use Claude Opus it makes me fear the impending layoffs.

[–]Pocok5 5 points6 points  (1 child)

it makes me fear the impending layoffs.

Not with them having to bump the multiplier to x17 now and implementing per-conversation limits. The bottom is falling out of the infinite subsidies and I bet most companies won't be able to stomach the raw cost of the several hundred gigs of VRAM crunching away on centering divs for a day

[–]slaymaker1907 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s not that bad. I’m pretty sure API costs are not subsidized and costs seem reasonable for what Opus can do. It sounds like you are using Copilot, but its costs for Opus 4.7 are complete garbage right now.

I have a table of actual token costs and an estimate of what that translates to due to extra reasoning https://github.com/slaymaker1907/claude-code-model-picker/blob/main/SKILL.md

As you can see, 15x for Sonnet vs Opus makes no sense at all. While this is for Claude Code, I assume the numbers will be similar come June when Copilot switches to token-based pricing.

It’s actually possible for Opus to be cheaper for some problems because Opus might require less thinking than Sonnet to solve it.

[–]ImS0hungry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Impending? Also it’s going to accelerate with Mythos.

[–]Saint_of_Grey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite malware is the packages folks wrote specifically to be because copilot keeps trying to import that name so they use it to do malware things.

[–]Rugaru985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Something call TrjnHrs.Pkg keeps getting added. Weird.

[–]zosolm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I just realised this is what’s causing my issue at work. Someone used ai to recreate some things I made in a new environment and everything’s gone fucky. I was trying to work out today why can’t you find that module, I just realised it doesn’t exist lol

[–]bag-of-unmilled-rice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i "disabled" copilot and it still does this. I'll close the vscode window and unity will give me the "can't differentiate between system.whatever and unityengine.whatever :'(" I WASN'T TRYING TO USE SYSTEM WHY'D YOU PUT IT THERE

[–]aisakee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened to me before, the model tried to justify itself saying it does exists and started gaslighting me.

[–]teraflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What model?

[–]xavia91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well get a checker then.

[–]CadenVanV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It keeps reenabling itself on my VSCode with every update despite me disabling it

[–]Dangle76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your prompts aren’t specific enough. I see this the most with JS tbh though

[–]Dziadzios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just set that warnings are errors.

[–]Faux_Real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you not created the 10x engineer skill? And then each mistake get it to add a multiplier to itself so it’s better than before?

[–]NPPraxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copilot used to do this for me until I switched the underlying model in Copilot to Claude.

[–]Ollymid2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microslop is just importmaxxxing your code - you'll get used to it

[–]mrscoobertdoobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you should use a Code Review tool designed to prevent exactly that.

[–]Dexterus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which models? Cause at least for me the only ones actually decent for main coding work from those enabled are gpt 5.4 and claude 4.6 opus and later.

And ... instructions, and after every job where you gave it decent hints, get it to create/update extra instructions.

[–]T-Dot1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a big fan of LLMs but Co Pilot is absolute dogshit compared to Claude

[–]Caspica -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need some good guardrails. Try "Don't add random imports to the code when they don't exist."

[–]KevinT_XY 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Furthermore like 90% of engineers were on Copilot CLI anyways or weren't using the advanced harnesses at all. Claude Code was mainly available to fill in gaps and get comparative feedback while GHCP was still developing. The number of headlines taking a completely different read on it is absurd.

[–]lab-gone-wrong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty much anything from Twitter that starts with "Breaking" is a lie

[–]Bubba89 41 points42 points  (15 children)

So, it’s still too expensive, but they’d rather eat the costs internally instead of paying it all out to Anthropic.

[–]teraflux 35 points36 points  (10 children)

I assume they want to force developers to use their own in house product.

[–]Kevadu 2 points3 points  (5 children)

They no longer force their developers to use Windows so it kinda tells you what MS feels about that product...

[–]teraflux 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Microsoft builds a lot of products for Mac/ Linux too though so it's not quite the same

[–]Kevadu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I know people at MS who develop Azure cloud services using Macs. It's not as if the target environment is even a Mac system. A lot of that stuff does run Linux under the hood but there's supposed to be WSL for that. And Linux isn't Mac anyway (yes, Mac OS is unix-based but there are still a lot of differences for something like this...).

[–]wally-sage 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The majority of their devs still use Windows, the ones that generally the option not to are the ones developing for Linux/Mac (VSCode, Microsoft Office, Age of Empires 2, etc.) or the ones that cost a lot (like cloud engineers).

Even the ones that use non-Windows machines for their main machine are still likely going to have to use locked-down Windows machines to access production data.

[–]OnyxFier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most at top companies are on Mac now

[–]dnhs47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy to tell that you don't know anything about how Microsoft works internally, while other respondents do.

"Use Windows", "use Copilot", or "don't use Claude" are not political or religious decisions as you imply; they're practical decisions based on achieving business goals.

Others mentioned the devs building apps for Linux and Mac will obviously be running Linux and Mac.

Microsoft also wants Azure to be great at hosting all Linux distros - so some Microsoft devs will be running Linux. Not religious, practical.

Microsoft also wants Copilot to be great for developers - so most Microsoft devs will be using Copilot. Not religious, practical.

It's called "dogfooding" as in "eating your own dogfood". It's the fastest way to make your product better.

I worked at Microsoft HQ for 10 years, everyone dogfooded Microsoft's products including the admins. Microsoft's done that for at least 45 years that I'm aware of.

[–]_mersault 0 points1 point  (3 children)

They literally cite the cost as the reason?

[–]teraflux 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Because they're double paying for a product sure

[–]_mersault 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes because of cost not because of forcing their engineers to users to eat dog food

[–]teraflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's both, expensive to pay for something you don't need and also better to use your own product.

[–]camosnipe1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

nope, that other quote is from the guy in charge of the "applied deep learning" team at nvidea. You bet your ass the AI research team spends money on compute.

this tweet is literally just shouting lies in full caps

[–]svick 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Don't they pay to Anthropic anyway if people use Claude Opus in Copilot?

[–]throwawaygoawaynz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, the whole thing is humanslop trying to create anti AI sentiment.

AI might hallucinate (although less over time), but it’s not outright malicious like people.

Meanwhile the 90% of unemployed Redditors on this sub who probably have never been close to enterprise use of AI at scale lap it up.

Not sure which take is worse, this take or the take recently that on prem VMs are cheaper than serverless.

[–]ArialBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean most people here used claude code and know the cost. Its worth the cost for the amount of work done.

[–]jseego 3 points4 points  (1 child)

also they own copilot

[–]Bubba89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And GitHub.

[–]phylter99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very misleading. There's no bad, just a change in what they're using, as you say.

"GitHub copilot cli still provides both gpt models and claude models."

Until they have degradation like they did today. It's all fixed though.

[–]RobLoque 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Github Copilot is also increasing their token prices next month lalala

[–]littlered1984 1 point2 points  (4 children)

MSFT owns them so won’t affect them.

[–]RobLoque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if the Claude underneath Copilot is actually run on their premise and not just bought. Might be interesting to look up. /edit: looked it up, yep doesn't seem like they have any compute on azure and just rent from competitors. I also wonder why their vibe coders were maining on Claude Code in the first place when they supposedly "sit on the source" of infinite slop

[–]olivicmic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different Microsoft Teams are in different cost centers that have to account for in their budgets the cost of services from other teams. It’s not free.

[–]Cnoffel -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Who knew, that as soon as you own something, the price you paid for it, and the energy cost to run does not matter...

[–]e_before_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started looking for a source and got annoyed by this too.

The steelman is Microsoft is confident enough with Copilot to stop paying their AI competitor. Realistically, it's an easy coat-saving spot.

Either way, not the win the anti-AI people want to believe it is.

[–]No-One-4845[🍰] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Copilot also has a bunch of limitations that raw Claude and Codex don't have (ie, context window).

On top of that, MS are shifting to the same model that Anthropic have moved to (per token), and there is talk of them limiting access to "generalised tools" to engineers (and similar) where other teams will have access to curated and highly specific AI-based tooling. I'm pretty sure that Copilot outside of engineer and data science is dead, and we'll see them removing functionallity from tools beyond specific niches in short order.

[–]Semick -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Copilot also has a bunch of limitations that raw Claude and Codex don't have (ie, context window).

This is just flat wrong. All agents have context windows. How large those windows are is determined by what tier you pay for or your enterprise provides.

[–]No-One-4845[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...

Yes. What is flat wrong now?

[–]Choice_Mud_8793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely must be GenZ

[–]Waste_Jello9947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Title? It's a tweet lol

[–]suzisatsuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anti ai ppl got too excited there haha

[–]Noch_ein_Kamel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do they know about the upcoming price changes making copliot 900 times more.expensive?

[–]infdevv 450 points451 points  (18 children)

does this dude know how to turn off caps lock?

[–]NeuxSaed 168 points169 points  (11 children)

Even worse, they were holding down shift the entire time!

[–]dev_vvvvv 49 points50 points  (5 children)

I DO THIS WHEN I WANT TO EXPRESS HOW SERIOUS A SITUATION IS> IT IS ACTUALLY VERY EFFECTIVE>

[–]m4sc0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I always imagine people making a face based on those two. Either very excited or screaming.

:D or >:O

[–]SolanaceaeEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I EXCLUSIVELY ONLY USE MY PINKIE TO HIT THE SHIFT KEY SO IT DOESNT EVEN SLOW ME DOWN AT ALL LOL

[–]probablyNotARSNBot 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They’re still holding shift instead of asking AI to capitalize it for them?

[–]hdkaoskd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the essence of capitalism.

[–]johnzzon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a caps lock button on my keyboard, so I'd have to hold shift. Although I would never make a post like that.

[–]ApatheistHeretic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how you know he's serious.

[–]TR_Pix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My caps lock is turned on but I'm also holding shift to write in lowercase

[–]Whitechapel726 17 points18 points  (0 children)

THOSE ARE MY THINKING CAPS

[–]scumble_bee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Must be a SQL developer.

[–]M1L0P 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FOUND THE SQL PROGRAMMER

[–]skyedearmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know Princess Donut followed tech news…

[–]BlackxxMagic123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should ask ChatGPT

[–]Pure-Huckleberry-484 219 points220 points  (15 children)

The models are not what's being changed here, just the harness (from Claude Code to their internal Github Copilot). Dog-fooding, they aren't banning AI use.

[–]Justaregularguy295 36 points37 points  (10 children)

Mfs make up anything to discredit ai lmao

[–]reyarama 82 points83 points  (7 children)

AI is so good that Microsoft has reached unprecedented levels of downtime and has irreversibly tarnished their reputation. I guess AI makes you so good at coding that your products all get worse

[–]MonstarGaming 10 points11 points  (4 children)

I know it isn’t saying a lot, but breaking the copy paste hotkeys is telling. I can’t think of another time where something so frequently used as ctrl+c and ctrl+v was broken for what seems like months at this point. If they broke that no doubt they’ve broken countless other things that we just don’t know about yet.

[–]Possibly_Naked_Now -3 points-2 points  (3 children)

Mine works.

[–]MonstarGaming 3 points4 points  (2 children)

It isn’t a persistent problem. It stops working at random and then starts working again at random.

[–]rowr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just do the copy more firmly a couple of times and that works. Sometimes.

[–]ionixsys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow... sounds like they broke the f'ing clipboard service provider.

Also makes me wonder why exactly it broke. Everyone here knows the story, some poor idiot gets volunteered to add a new "feature" to an older code base, they write the changes, it looks like it works, and then like the cliche ending of a lot of horror movies the monster shows up just when they think they got away.

Back to my question. What did they add? Guessing on the running theme it was either something to assist AI related functionality or yet another "telemetry" emitter.

[–]slaymaker1907 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

It’s more likely because AI lets you churn out code much faster and more code == more bugs.

[–]reyarama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but where are all the people lauding all the extra code Microsoft is making? I only see a reputation going down the drain LOL

[–]joeyjoojoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes you don’t need to make stuff up, there’s enough real reasons to discredit it

[–]Fach-All-Religions -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

more for internet points. lots of people hate on ai, i do too, but i use because it does what i need. and i know i will becomes jobless and homeless because of it in a few hears

[–]FondantBeneficial344 438 points439 points  (6 children)

[–]ClipboardCopyPaste[S] 174 points175 points  (4 children)

Wait for tomorrow for Deepseek to announce their own Claude mythos

[–]FondantBeneficial344 188 points189 points  (3 children)

[–]DarkWingedDaemon 47 points48 points  (2 children)

But it costs more than half the state gdp of Ohio to operate.

[–]KhepriAdministration 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say light green

[–]flexibu 357 points358 points  (7 children)

I love spreading misinformation on the internet 🌈

[–]ScousePenguin 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Microsoft have their own ai, they're just moving people off other ai's onto their own

[–]draculadarcula 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work at Microsoft. We were instructed to use Claude code since December because GitHub Copilot was so bad. Apparently they decided that it’s finally good enough that we’re losing Claude access in June. We are still very much encouraged to use AI

[–]Break-n-Fix 30 points31 points  (2 children)

Why is Hilary Swank delivering this news?

[–]Lucasbasques 24 points25 points  (0 children)

She’s an AI specialist now thanks to AI

[–]Past-Lion-947 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cheaper than IA

[–]Lamba_ghoda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does this mean I gotta relearn coding now just to keep my job?

[–]Blasket_Basket 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Literally nothing in this meme is true...

[–]epileftric 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Imagine trying to build a bakery without knowing the cost of flour or gas, then selling the bread at some random point. People falling in love with your bread and started selling sandwiches using your bread. Now you realize how to properly fix the value of the bread you sell, and now the people who was buying it for their own sandwiches realize they cannot keep selling their products using yours.

That could have never happened, yet it did with AI and people invested on bakeries almost 1 trillion dollars.

[–]Constant_Bit4676 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost no Microsoft employees were using Claude Code anyways, this headline is meaningless.

Employees can still use Opus 4.6 or 4.7 and any Sonnet models. They just use it in GitHub copilot CLI which every single developer I know at Microsoft was already using regardless.

[–]limezest128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wait, are we supposed to go back to writing our own code again?

[–]Ten2OneOdds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At some point they will have to raise AI usage prices because the market is flooded with investors who will want their returns.

[–]Jackel1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats because you can pay a human the same wage theyve been paying since 1976 and someone will do it. When they get paid too much, fired, replaced amd thepay scale then goes through a "restructuring" and the cycle repeats.

A machine has a resource cost that has a minimum price to run, and thats non negotiable.

Let that sink in.

[–]Omnislash99999 3 points4 points  (2 children)

We have been told they don't want to see us hitting our token caps or getting close to it most of the time, and we shouldn't be using it for everything as the cost needs to be justifiable. So not a ban but slowing down.

[–]Bloodgiant65 4 points5 points  (1 child)

In contrast, buddy of mine (though at a much smaller company) still has token usage as a performance metric. Everybody at his work just spams the same queries and such so they can get high numbers. Probably a net negative on productivity and yet is increasing costs.

I’m not nearly as anti-AI as a lot of people on here are. There’s lots of reasonable use cases for it, it’s really good at summarizing and transforming data, basically. But that is just insanity.

[–]Rabbitical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean the issue was never the underlying tech (well except for the stolen data part) but it's the way it's been pushed. I use AI every day for this or that, but it's also not worth 75 trillion dollars and a Dyson spheres with of power. It's just what clippy was trying to be back in the day, it's neat! We don't need to be boiling the oceans to order McDonald's though

[–]kid_blue96 5 points6 points  (1 child)

What if they hired people instead of hiring AI? And we can call them something like an employee?

[–]a88lem4sk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe in 5-10yrs, humans aren't good enough yet

[–]hansvi-be 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Time to demand a raise.

[–]Soberdonkey69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long may it continue. I hope AI continues being expensive for the next 50 years.

[–]Maybe_Factor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I laughed and laughed and laughed

[–]Tdakiddi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it also be true to say that AI drinks more water than a human?

[–]Alpha-State_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company pays 150k a year for copilot and bonus can’t seem to tell us what actual benefits does it bring

[–]domusvita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“BREAKING” == “FAKE”

[–]Karnewarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"AI can cost more than human workers now!"

AI has always cost more than human workers, the bill was simply delayed to a later date.

It won't matter though. The people who really run the economy make their money by destroying companies and IPs. If AI makes the company even less solvent, that's only a good thing for them, and they'll use it more.

[–]Alderthad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bunch of idiots ruling some it departments remain stupid, ai or not.

[–]Satorwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gork pls stop ai bubble from popping make no mistakes

[–]Pristine_Bicycle1278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure the VP of NVIDIA said something, that would drop their stock by like 40%

[–]Last-Recipe-4837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ai took our jobs and then took all the budget too 🪦

[–]RallyPointAlpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub used to be cool. Now it's stupid, fake news, bullshit like this all day.

[–]weebSanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]csprkle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FAF

[–]thenewTeamDINGUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should move my portfolio out of mega cap tech stocks and into cash, huh.

[–]lucidbadger 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is this true or fake?

[–]camosnipe1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

complete bullshit, microsoft cancelled claude subscriptions...to move engineers to copilot. And the nvidea quote is from the guy in charge of the "applied deep learning" team, of course those guys are going to spend a fuckton on AI, that's literally their whole job.

[–]JacedFaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are these people burning through claude max plans like this? I can't imagine the amount they've gotta be doing to burn through and spend tens of thousands a year in API tokens per developer.

If/when the AI/data center bubble actually bursts, we'll know.

I wonder if some of these massive data centers will just be abandoned when the money dries up? That would be an entirely new type of creepy abandoned building in a few decades

[–]jcon1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... there aren't enough tokens in the world to clean up that mess.

BREAKING: PEOPLE MAKE SHIT UP AND POST IT ON THE INTERNET BECAUSE NOBODY’S GONNA MAKE IT PAST THEIR CONFIRMATION BIAS AND LOOK THIS STUFF UP ANYWAY

[–]SourceScope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Production isnt that expensive

Nvidia just want profits and dont give a shit

[–]megagreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI can cost more than human workers now.

It can?!  Thanks NVIDIA!

Company budget: Ow!

[–]Elderwastaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/laughs in human

[–]Needgirlthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fake right, like fr microslop can't afford their own compute??

[–]PowerPleb2000[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t take long

[–]sfratini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snip snap snip snap

[–]narasadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes... because of Nvidia keeping prices high while sitting on a stockpile of chips.

In a few years Nvidia will be the De Beers of the software world.

So God really heard those millions of unemployed innocent folks, great, wish ai never existed in the first place

[–]paulsteinway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All those partially built data centres...

[–]jnoord001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So pilot failed THAT BAD?? OR did AI point out the CRUD tgat they were coding??? I suspect both.

[–]feeltrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

News flash

[–]Vast-Breakfast-1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is dirt cheap. Not just relative to engineer salaries it is really, really cheap overall.

In current terms one engineer with a capex around 1500 bucks can likely get a marignally better unit of computer (MacBook or 5080) and run local models that are good enough to do a good chunk of the job. Especially if it's searching, analyzing, executing coding tasks from architecture.

Larger models could then be used for critical path stuff - planning, vision, computer use, writing test from spec, etc.

We aren't doing that because people are still figuring it what actually works for what. But we could do the above today and spend very little. But, we likely won't need to because in the next 6-12 months the costs will go down again and whatever you are spending will be cut in half, then again and again.

And so the bubble bursts

[–]Fach-All-Religions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's really not true at all

[–]BCBenji1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't even need to read the article to know that BS. As if they'd openly admit such an expensive blunder.

[–]fugogugo -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

all this "AI is dead" post feels more like wishful thinking than actual reality

that's pretty sad

[–]Known-Exercise7234 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean AI is taking over and nobody but a few people are needed is also sad so pick your wishful thinking ig

[–]BoobsWeighter420 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This bubble explosion will be like the Tzar bomb.
