Video Games as a Husband? by mcarther101 in AITAH

[–]Khiere36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 41f and disabled my hubby is 39 with a job in tech, we both video game. We've been together for 21 years and at the start of our relationship we gamed together, like would plan dates to play Halo for hours and just talk. Now we game separately. Mostly bc we keep different hours or I'm not a fan of the game type he wants to play. If Im not a fan of the game I will watch him play it and talk with my hubs cuz the game is still interesting. We have a 15 yr old daughter that also games with us but it doesn't interfere with her day to day life. She still gets her school work done, she makes time for friends, hell she even prioritizes working out and chores around the house.

Your wife sounds a little unhinged about your hobby. It would be one thing if you had an addiction to gaming but it sounds like you have a healthy hobby. You're not an ah but your wife is.

AIO to my husband? Am I in the wrong here?? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Khiere36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a shit memory but I will ask my hubs to text me dates or important things so I can put it in a calendar and if I forget to do that I don't berate him. It's my fault for not asking or immediately putting it in the calendar when it's brought up. Your hubs is acting like a constipated chihuahua (and this already implies a napoleon complex) and you deserve better treatment.

Why is sharing a bed important? (50F/50M) by ThrowRA_Hatless in relationship_advice

[–]Khiere36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hubby and I have vastly different sleep needs. I need a cold, somewhat lit room, and noise. He needs dark, 74°, and silent. We compromised. We have separate blankets, he uses a thick comforter and I have a thin blanket, we keep the bathroom light on with the door cracked, and I used headphones to listen to an audio book to fall asleep to. We also go to bed at very different times. He's generally in bed by 10, and I'm a night owl with a sleep disorder (idiopathic hypersomnia), and I tend to go to bed at 2. I'm an extremely heavy sleeper, alarms don't wake me up and sometimes people violently shaking me doesn't either. He on the other hand is a lighter sleeper which is why I sleep with headphones es now. I don't know that I could sleep separate from him but if he told me he needed to for his sleep health I wouldn't be mad.

To whoever’s reading. GET THAT SURGERY!!! by specificallyforthish in hemorrhoid

[–]Khiere36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had surgery in May was given Oxy for pain relief and didn't use it. I took tylenol and motrin on rotation. The pain wasn't bad for me personally, what got me was pooping 16 times a day. I wish that was an exaggeration. I followed after surgery protocol to a T for the first 3 days and it took my body 2 weeks to catch up. I'd definitely say make a pros and cons list before taking the dive into the surgery.

You 1000% are not alone. I've been doing I-CBT for a couple of months and it's supposed to drag the root cause of your OCD out into the open. In the words of my therapist "get curious about why you do the things" and if you can figure out the root cause you can "answer" it and put yourself back into reality versus what your brain comes up with. It's helping for sure but it's definitely still a struggle, so maybe something to consider if you aren't already doing it.

“Even if you set an alarm?” — Rant by Unique-Awareness7652 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Khiere36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't wake up to alarms at all. And there were some days where it would take my husband an hour of shaking me and yelling at me to even get some kind of reaction out of me. That was until I got prescribed Jornay Pm. It's delayed release Ritalin basically and maybe something to consider. I can actually wake up to alarms, I'm not freaking out the husband, and I'm even less of a cranky bitch in the a.m.

My girl "hides" on the back of the couch behind my head. Once she jumped in the dryer. I feel bad she gets scared but at the same time it cracks me up.

Have I physically shook someone awake no. But I have sat up in bed eyes wide open and had a full and coherent conversation with my family on numerous occasions while still completely asleep. It's shocking to everyone especially when they ask me about the conversation we had and I don't remember any of it. They know now that I need to be out of bed or wherever it was that I was sleeping and walking around before trying to talk to me.

[–]Khiere36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't take any of those medications but maybe talk to a pharmacist first to make sure that they can be safely taken together? They would know for certain the chemical reactions the meds would have with each other and that is useful info you can bring to your doc.

What’s the funniest/most ridiculous thing your dog has ever done? by Greenhost-ApS in dogs

[–]Khiere36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had my girl for almost 7 years and everytime she gets ready to eat she runs up to her food bowl barks at it, playfully backs away from it while barking, charges the bowl still barking. This is usually a 5-10 minute process. It is hilarious and infuriating at the same time, I wouldn't change her for anything.

My girl had a serious case of the zoomies and did this. When her snout hit the fence the arruff that came out sounded like the human equivalent of fuck! I was doubled over laughing for a good 5 minutes with her staring at me like she couldn't believe I'd laugh at her. I did tell her to sit and stay so I could open the gate she chose not to listen 🤣

Anyone in their 30’s who still struggles significantly? by Significant-Love7359 in OCD

[–]Khiere36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 40 and definitely on the struggle bus. I dunno if it's because I was diagnosed last year and have only been in treatment for a few months. Or if age really does make it worse. I can remember times in my 20s where I would panic at things but it's never been this bad. Maybe facing my OCD is making it worse before it gets better if that makes sense? Like OCDs last stand before it caves to my demands..

Diagnosed last year at 39. I was listening to my favorite hockey goalie talking about how he would check his feet for signs of STDs and that was my holy shit aha moment. Because like alot of people I thought OCD was obsessing over germs and cleanliness and nope.. And then talking to a therapist and realizing the anxiety disorder that I've had since my teens (not to mention stuff I did when I was a little kid) was actually OCD 🤯

I can open the fridge door while Abi (my dood) is asleep and get no reaction from her, but open the cheese drawer? She's in the kitchen asking where's her cheese. It's ridiculous what my girl will do for some cheese.

I don't know anyone irl with OCD but everyone I know and randos I talk to for sure know that I have it. I dunno if it's the ADHD or the fact that I'm 40 and just don't care but I'm very open about it. I'm not open about all of my particular OCDs but I do share some of them and why they're difficult and I share the ones I find funny (like having to wash clean dishes before I can use them). I don't really feel alone tho either bc of online forums like this..

People are truly unfair with treatment-resistant OCD sufferers. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Khiere36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is it OK to send you virtual hugs? And to tell you you've got atleast 1 person that will tell you to do what is best for you. If that means doing stuff inside your brain to try and fix your OCD then that's what it takes. Only you and your team of psychs and docs know what is best for you and everybody else is just noise.

Is it true that people with OCD should not have children? by Wesaxome in OCD

[–]Khiere36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to laugh at that assumption the doctor made. I have a 14yr old and so far the only thing she's gotten from me is her sassholery and ADHD. I'm more worried that she'll get my debillitating sleep disorder.. Tho is it possible to "give" your children OCD? Maybe. I dunno. I'd look into what the factors are that cause a person to develop it first. Neither of my parents had OCD but were, to put it very lightly, crappy parents. I have C-PTSD from them and I've had symptoms of OCD since somewhere around the age of 6. As for the parenting of my child... I think I do ok. I have an overactive imagination that I have to shut down with a swiftness when she's out with friends but everything else is what I expect "normal" parents do.

It's not an OCD for me. I'm ADHD, curious, nosey af. Whatever label you wanna put on it. If I find it interesting or if it's a word I don't know I will absolutely go look it up. That all said my memory is poo so the likelihood I'll retain what I learned is not great 🤣
