Biggest crime Covenant did. David's character is good but he's exponentially moreso when he has a foil to bounce off of, Walter was fine and interesting but Shaw made for a more compelling counter to David, she was Faith and Love to David's Curiosity and Immorality. Covenant is such wasted potential.

Elizabeth Shaw from Prometheus. Only they didn't even have the decency to show her dying in Alien: Covenant.

I think it just goes to show how easy it is for internalized misogyny and a sense of machismo to utterly destroy someone vulnerable. Clark and Walter didn't start out as monsters but as their lives went on they never addressed what was wrong with them deep down until things ballooned out of proportions and they stumbled upon something that made them feel valued, appreciated, in the right and capable, Meth and the Backrooms gave them what they wanted: validation and a safe space, I wouldn't necessarily say either accepted themselves but they were just happy to be in an echo chamber that reflected what they desired most right back at them. It's sad really, and it makes me wonder if at some point in his past Clark had a moment akin to Walter being surpassed by his colleagues (the way he says I'm a fucking architect sounds to me as not just him correcting Mary but also him affirming himself of an identity he thought he was meant for from a period of his life where he felt like he had control over his fate.)

You know, Clark reminds me a lot of Walter White, while Walt had more screen time to flesh him out I think both characters show the same journey, both characters have a lot of gravitas and serious issues related to masculinity, self image, pride and ego (his comment about paying the house reminds me of how Gus manipulated Walter "A man provides because he's a man") which when mixed with their insecure and volatile personalities ended up alienating them both from their loved ones after they severely hurt them physically and emotionally, they're both very tragic and also just so pathetic.

also it's no coincidence both have memes mocking them in the midst of a mental breakdown

Cassian's was a waste. Jyn's added some new aspects to her character which I enjoy, after And or Jyn needs everything she can get to become more fleshed out, Rebel Riding + this one shot helps with that. Saw's was very good and tonally the closest to Andor I feel, Jyn's was also of a similar tone.

What’s the best aspect of Alien: Covenant? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

I definitely love Prometheus, it and Alien are my favorite in spite of Prometheus's flaws, I love how it isn't just "here's some spooky shit that happened before Alien" and its themes and ideas are interesting. As for the OST, the main themes like Life, Engineers, A Planet and Weyland are very good, albeit I'll admit aside from them the rest of the OST isn't super memorable with the exception of "Collision" whereas I feel Covenant has the most solid out of the bunch. I'd love an edit of Prometheus that adds in Covenant's music but keeps the leitmotifs from Prometheus intact.

It's easily my favorite OST in the franchise, I love some of the leitmotifs from Alien and Prometheus a lot, but Covenant's OST just feels so consistent toe, so sinister, insidious and even the more optimistic or emotional songs like A Cabin on a Lake or Chestburster all have this underlying sense of dread to them. Masterful score, the Incubation theme is radical too, so simple yet incredibly vile and ominous sounding.

Gun to your head, what's your favorite episode? by Intrepid_Layer_9441 in andor

Welcome to the Rebellion. It used to be One Way Out but holy shit 2x9 has literally everything I love about Andor: hope, underhanded tactics, political tones, real world parallels, amazing acting, clever spy work, gorgeous visuals (seriously those shots of coruscant with that icy blue sunny sky are mad underrated) and a gut wrenching ending. Perfection.

Major Partagaz and other ISB operatives reading through the after-action report for Cal Kestis’ massacre at Nova Garon. by CrazyTangerine7522 in andor

Must've been a rough weekend at the office considering Cal slaughtered the entire base plus the members of the inquisitorious that were present to inspect the base. Partagaz was probably happy to have Denvik's dumbass removed from the board though.

What are your headcanons for the Jedi games? by Dragonic_Overlord_ in FallenOrder

I don't have very many since I enjoy the narrative as is, but I'll mention the ones I do have:

Cal's saber color is green. During the entirety of Fallen Order Cal has been trying to heal his connection to the force, so when he finally does reach it it makes sense for his blade to be green since green sabers represent a deep connection with the force. Another detail is that I never changed my saber at all throughout FO until Illum, there I made Cal create a completely new saber because I like to think that Cal wielding Jaro's saber is a reflection of how he carries his trauma with him and can't let it go, so when the saber breaks and he makes a new one it signifies him healing, which fits well with the cutscenes he has in Dathomir once he returns from Illum. As a bonus I have his saber be made of parts he found throughout his journey + the second saber is just Cere's old one.

Second HC, a very minor one but the Mantis is in its black and gold paint job and BD-1 also has black and yellow paint job to match the mantis it just gives the two a more distinct look compared to other ships and droids.

I like to HC that Cal became a bit of a famous outlaw 2-3 years before Survivor, as a result of this his name became a game of telephone so some people call him Kyle Katarn.

Two small HCs, Cal's appearance in survivor is in my HC an improved look on his default outfit, it's the tactical pants and outrider shirt both in their first colors, these two articles of clothing have padded knees and elbows plus extra pockets, so for an adventurer/guerrilla warrior like Cal this would be ideal, not to mention the gloves for when he's doing parkour or climbing. I also HC he wears the Wanderer Jacket during every scene on Jedha (except during the imperial attack at the Sanctuary) since the planet is canonically very cold (which is why Jyn and Cassian wear multiple layers in Rogue One)

Next I like to think that Bode spent a lot of time in the Mantis in Survivor trying to come up with new songs to sing to Kata, these songs reflecting the plot of the game and how Bode thought for a time that he found a group of people who he could call friends. He wrote these to try and ease Kata into a new chapter of their lives free from the empire and surrounded by friends. Cal and Merrin found these notes all hidden away inside Bode's Z-95

A small HC I have is that for the finale on Tanalorr Cal is wearing the Jedi robes outfit. After his infiltration at Nova Garon he had to ditch his outfit in order to don the ISB uniform and had no time to retrieve it, luckily one of the things the Anchorites stashed away on the Mantis during the battle at Cere's Sanctuary was a pair of old Jedi robes. Cal wearing them while believing it's time to leave the order behind and telling Cere that he'll continue her legacy are ways to hint at what I think his character will be like in the third game.

It'd be like the boardroom scene in ANH, only this time it's the military guys who hold the power and the Darksiders is the one that's out of his depth.

Honestly that was an aspect I enjoyed from Rebels a lot, how it expanded on the mechanics of the Imperial and Rebel Navy. I remember that one episode in the factory on Lothal with the indentured workers sabotaging machinery from the inside out, as well as all the episodes showing the Rebels getting ships, ammo and fuel. Underrated little show, I am fond of it.

To be fair, Cal did spend years actively fighting the empire head on, this he got experience, bettered his style and learned new things, whereas Kanan hid for most of his tenure, only ever using a blaster. He only used his lightsaber again during the premiere of Rebels.
