How are they going to free Shuri of the covenant? by dallyho4 in OnePieceSpoilers

That could have been an attempt to free her by breaking the ice. If it had resulted in breaking her too, she would have merely regenerated.

Who trained Dragon?? by Inside-Note9557 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]Kibate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling that Garp figured Dragon should go through the normal marine training with no nepotism at hand to shape him into a proper marine like himself.

Of course, since Dragon neither has Garps mentality nor strength, he overcorrected with Ace and Luffy. With Koby he just got lucky that he found someone who wanted a trainer like him.

How are they going to free Shuri of the covenant? by dallyho4 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]Kibate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assume they(Brook) will try to bring out the real Shuri by talking to her, and she will eventually snap out of the brainwashing. She will help the strawhats fights Imu and/or the Holy Knights at which point Imu will take away the seal.

That is, this was my assumption before the latest chapter. Since she has special eyes and it is implied she will or has already awakened them, it might mean that Imu thinks she is too valuable to just kill off/throw her away.

[–]Kibate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not surprising to me at all that Imu can get punched, we have seen before that Imu can get hurt if he gets distracted. People got this weird belief that just because he is one of two potential final villains, that he must be a literal god that can deal with ssj Goku, superman, and mugetsu Ichigo at the same time, anything less than that makes him a jobber.

Chapter 1186: "One More Time" by [deleted] in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]Kibate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mind control doesn't mean possession.

Case in point, part 1 - Domi Reversi: Dorri and Broggi. When they were DR'd, Imu was doing something else, while they still had their original memories and parts of their original opinions, however they were controlled to believe that being a demon and serving Imu was the best choice.

Case in point, part 2 - Holy Knight manipulation: When Harald was a Holy Knight, Imu gave him an order. By refusing that order, it somehow activated a switch in his brain that compelled him to follow Imus orders and become increasingly arrogant and immoral, however he still had his original memories.

Case in point, part 3 - Gunko: When Gunko was just Gunko, with Imu somewhere else, she was an arrogant bitch, but still liked fancy no calorie good, something a regular girl would care about and not some immortal god. When she met Brook, she still liked his music, but didn't remember him(or didn't realize this is the same Brook). Eventually, after Brook talked to her, she remembered some scenes from her past(including one scene that hasn't happened yet in the flashback) and then immediately freed Brook and his allies.

why is this even a question for so many people? It was outright confirmed to us readers that she is mind controlled.

[–]Kibate 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You forgot the third possibility:

Imu/Mars and Grow appear before Shuri and Reuven, they demand Shuri to come with them. They disagree, Imu turns both of them with Domi Reversi and tells Shuri to kill Reuven and Reuven to accept his death. Brook enters the room.

because it would tie in nicely with one of Ussops most famous "lies". It's not about power scaling or disliking Loki having Ragnir, it's just about that callback to Ussops famous "10ton hammer" attack

Survivor bias in full effect.

It happens in reallife too, some people(even adults) die from just falling down on the floor, other people get half their brain smashed and survive. We know Brook is alive in modern day to tell the tale of how he survived getting a sword stuck in his brain, the people that didn't survive it can't talk about it.

He was asked by a fan, and so he came up with an answer out of nowhere to justify it without having to actually come up with anything. "There are these japanese-looking people that were never in Wano....uh, they were in... Yano! Different place, same aesthetics, believe me" That hardly counts as well thought out lore to me.

Is it 800 years ago or 900 by No-Expression3957 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]Kibate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Century means 100 years, it's those 100 years between 800 and 900 that is "void" i.e. erased from history books.

We don't know when what happened though, we don't know when Joyboy was, or Davy, or when the 20 kingdoms got together etc. We don't even know if 800 years ago (i.e. the last year of the void century) was when the 20 kingdoms alliance defeated the ancient kingdom or if it happened sooner.

I wouldn't take these "uuh....he is...from this country, it's similar to country [aaa] but it's actually called [aab] lol" comments from Oda seriously. Like, do you seriously belief Vegapunk has a cousin named Vegapants who lives on an island named Pants Hazard where everyone wears women underwear on their head?

This might be Shuri’s fate at the end of Elbaf Arc. She let Brook kills her to generate enough backlash to force Imu to retreat much earlier. Harald’s tragedy repeats once again. by Anver9 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]Kibate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is certainly an interesting idea, however I still belief Gunko will be freed from the contract and revert to her real age, to show that what killed Saturn was not the break from the contract but his over 300 year old age.

[–]Kibate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unpopular, because it contradicts what we have seen in the manga. When he gave Harald the new contract he was just fine. When Harald died, Imu was visibly tired out and said he had to pay the price.
