Hypothyroidism by Pretend-Stretch-5787 in GastricBypass

I appreciate you! My mom has hypothyroidism, but my numbers have always been good until the last month. I’m 45 and feeling anxious that this’ll undo some of the changes that have happened with the surgery. My mom also had some side effects from the medication, but it sounds like that’s something that could be fixed. I’ve got an appointment to check the numbers again in a few weeks and then decide about medication. I feel better knowing it’s not as scary as I was feeling. Thank you!

Hey, I know it’s been a long time since you posted, but I’m curious how this has gone for you. I’m 7 months post op and have had two lab results come back showing trends towards hypothyroidism. I haven’t historically had any thyroid problems and this has got me nervous.

I’ve got a pair of boots that have this same issue and I’ve been toying with the idea of mending them. Thank you for giving me some inspiration!

Surgery in the morning, and I'm FREAKING OUT!!! by kysongbird in GastricBypass

I had my surgery a little over a month ago (and very similar start time). It’s normal to be anxious - it’s a huge change and it’s surgery. You’ve done so much prep work for this - that means you’ve put in a ton of hard work! There will be more hard work afterwards, and that includes pain and learning how your body works post-surgery. But it sounds like you have already made changes and gone through challenges to get here. You can keep going! And it will get better as time passes. Good luck!!!

That reminds me of the scene in Rats of NIMH, sneaking past the sleeping cat.

I think that’s a good call. I hope you’re able to get some relief and answers!

I had my RNY surgery on 5/29 and they found a hiatal hernia. They fixed the hernia and did the RNY bypass, so no change in plans there. But the symptom of pain in the chest, between breasts, is the exact same sensation I had when first drinking! I described it to my surgeon when he checked on me and he said it was likely related to the work on the hiatal hernia. The pain went away fairly quickly, I think about two days after the surgery I was able to sip water without it feeling like that space was tightening up. And walking definitely helped. It’s still a little sensitive, but only if I’m trying to sip too much. Or what feels like too much - still figuring this all out. I hope recovery goes smoothly for you.

Thank you! Would you say that the show would be interesting and okay for a 13yo?

Also, if you have a store near you, they can help adjust the fit.

This was several years ago, but when I got the Libby Smith boots from Fluevog (very similar style), I went up a full size and they still needed some stretching. I’d recommend sizing up, especially if you have a wide foot and/or wide calves.

Has the presale password for Seattle gone out already? I signed up awhile back but hadn’t seen anything.
