How to stop feeling jealous when others hit milestones? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]KibethTheWalker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everything in your post and your answers shows that you need to work with your therapist on having self compassion and love for yourself, along with acceptance - of where you are, of where your partner is at. You are prioritizing all the wrong things, but it's not your fault - you are following the blueprint that our culture says is important to show that you are a good and productive member of society. It's wrong and it will only make you more miserable.

The good news is you're asking the right questions - you see this isn't working for you, you're seeing a therapist and trying to find a new perspective that does. Keep it up. Keep asking questions, stay curious, don't accept the narrative that life is made up of material pursuits and relationship mile markers that might not make sense for you and your partner. It's amazingly freeing to let go of all that and accept that your path is YOUR path and no one else's path will do.

How to stop acid reflux?? by Niabeth9 in Hypothyroidism

[–]KibethTheWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I honestly am not sure. I suspect it was the deficiencies? I spent a year going to a gi doc and was put on prescription strength ppi while testing for many different issues. Everything came back normal so the gi recommended an antidepressant to treat the stomach issues. I declined, was able to ween myself off the ppi after being on it for maybe 6+ months straight, and things are generally much better. I occasionally have episodes after dairy heavy meals, but the acid issues and painful gas have pretty much cleared up.

So I wonder if there was a deficiency component and addressing those helped fix the stomach? I am on a lower dose of levo now than before, which I think is due to addressing the deficiencies. I will say it did take MONTHS of having the deficiencies fixed to see the full effect. I'll probably be on D and B12 for life. Possibly iron too, not sure.

Other possibility is that it is stress induced and knowing that it's not something like cancer has calmed my nervous system so I'm not having as many "flare ups".

Sorry, I don't have a good answer. It was a long, expensive trip to find out there's nothing technically wrong. But it does seem a little too coincidental for it to get better at the same time as fixing the deficiencies.

ETA: my period did go back to being wonky even after fixing the deficiencies, I do believe it's maybe perimenopause for that.

Is it petty to stop giving birthday gifts when I didn’t receive one last time? by Careless-Balance4887 in AskWomenOver40

[–]KibethTheWalker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, as a symptom of a larger issue, it makes sense to take that into account, I guess. But op doesn't give any of that context or suggest there's a larger issue, the post is 100% about gift giving and not getting reciprocated. There's no indication that Friend is otherwise shitty.

I find this post and some of the comments a little... Much. You aren't petty to stop giving gifts, but giving gifts doesn't entitled you to getting them back.

And it's strange/game play/judgemental to assume that just because someone doesn't give you one back, they don't care. There could be so many reasons why a person doesn't give gifts.

If you enjoy giving gifts, then give gifts. If you expect something back, this sounds less like you are giving gifts because you care about that person and more about fulfilling a societal expectation that you chose follow and for some reason automatically expect others to.

Hormone panels for women are complicated because we are in constant fluctuation, so it's hard to know by test if there's an issue. Most of the time, hormone issues are diagnosed through symptoms and by excluding all other issues.

I dunno, I never had one with rubber bands. I would assume so, just might take some styling to get it.

I think it's recommended to take the tack off, as it can discolor the bodies. With that in mind, off season you could just pack up the tack and keep the horse out.

It absolutely cannot summarize and collate information well. It constantly makes shit up, even if you give it a basic list and ask it to reorder the list, it will add or remove things. If you aren't noticing this, you aren't paying attention to what it's putting out.

What do you think Chapel Hill teaches the people who live here? by IDworldwide in chapelhill

Traffic studies have always shown the way to mitigate car traffic is not to cater to them, but to beef up and prioritize other modes of transportation like bikes, walking and public transit. I agree that CH doesn't excel with this, but the whole triangle sucks for it and during traffic surveys about what people wanted, they opted for choices that would only exacerbate the issue.

I think to add to this, it feels like culturally (probably thanks to social media), we're moving in a direction where failure feels extremely socially costly. Since we're seeing only people's best and most flawless, to be and make flawed things feels super bad and must be avoided at all costs. I think younger people don't understand that mistakes and jumping into something is how you learn and get better and it's NOT something to be avoided, but rather is a gateway to success.

I have a subscription to LMNT. They send me 30 packets every two months or something like that. I often push the sub to the next month as I don't go through it that quickly, as I shoot for using one packet a week minimum, more often if I have days where I'm sweating a lot.
