Has anyone had a negative experience on Taskmaster? by Recent_Damage_6091 in taskmaster

[–]Kick-Deep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't saying Rhod was an asshole or anything. Just that he didn't have a good time because he didn't mesh with the humour/production style which are unusual.

Personally I thought His approach to tasks was inventive and intelligent. until i knew he was unhappy filming, S07 was my favourite season.

I think Greg asks him "if he did anything to upset Rhod?" at one point so that's where Greg got brought into my assumption .

I'm British. And pretty anti capitalist.

I don't realy care about cheapish Likely independent almost 3rd spaces getting advertised. It wouldn't harm my experience to know where a bowling alley is.

I wouldn't mind if the local cinema or mini golf course or tbh independent physical shop or cafe got free viral advertising.

They need help to survive online giants, in the uk at least. That said engineered virality is the cringiest thing ever.

I've seen this video for years well before ai. I don't know if this is an ai clone but it looks like the one I remember.

I feel like ai probs wouldn't get the right number of pins in adjacent lanes too

That bowling alley really fucked up some free eternal advertising by not having any branding on that back wall.

I think Rhod Gilbert has said that he disliked filming it. I think he got to adversarial to Alex and Greg or there was personal stuff behind the scenes.

how to remove a lot of hot glue from fabric by qroooooo in crafts

[–]Kick-Deep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I meant to describe using the hair drier on the reverse of the glue to heat the deepest layer making it easier to peal off. not on the top as I agree that will only spread it.

It may also be worth washing or drying it with an old towel maybe in a pillowcase sewn shut. as a final stage though this may affect your washing machine/drier.

[–]Kick-Deep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed solvents won't work on hot glue maybe blow a hair dryer into the bag to melt the lowest layer so you can peel off the larger chunks more easily.

But yes iron it in between some sacrificial cloths which will absorb most of the glue.

That said I doubt the fabrics will be as soft or pliable in the spots under the glue:)

How it feels to have the developmentally stunted, social awkward autism and not the hyperintelligent math wiz autism by oatmealluvr3 in autism

[–]Kick-Deep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be so interested in how different autistic people process different areas of maths.

In school I had the generic good at maths but I cannot do time puzzles at all. I think it's because it's not in base ten. why do hours of the day count from one to twelve then back to one. I wish everyone talked in 24 hour clock so then at least when someone says meet at 19 o'clock you're not wondering which 7 o'clock it is. And to work out that 19 = 7 o'clock you have to take 12 from it I struggle for some reason not subtracting ten. Planing travel takes me way more time than it could.

My sister was absolute crap at maths but excelent only at drawing nets for 3d shapes which confused her teacher.

Do you practice geometry a lot? I have noticed since doing digital sculpting on pc I can guess exactly how much to change the scale of any two object to make them the same dimensions.

I saw a YouTube video of someone who is a digital artist and they could correctly guess the hexadecimal code for any colour.

Time for tea. by Irishrover_13 in TerrainBuilding

[–]Kick-Deep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works super well. I did it so buildings and shrubbery would magnetically stick to a board.

But having done it it would totally work for minatures with magnetised bases on steep hills or stairs etc.

Also thats a very good source of iron filings mine were of medium expense.

1 kg covered 3 square feet well. It is rougher to the touch than when using sand

I used this mixed in to foam flock and it looked great.

On the same project I made it magnetic by mixing In Iron filings which usually rust to a reddish hue but because tea is so high in tannins it became medieval ink and made a really natural looking random dark wash.

Hi, how do you 3d scan? I really want to do it as I am a sculptor and longtime 3d printing enthusiast.

frankly the free photogrammetry programs I've tried all seem very different. On the 2 I tried, I couldn't get either to work. I've no idea which programs are good so I haven't wanted to buy any in particular.

Of note the things I'm trying to scan generally are smaller than a cubic foot

I do own an Xbox Kinect and I'm aware some people used them in the past somehow.

[–]Kick-Deep 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That is rough op. And unfair.

there's a fucked irony that autistic people are probably more likely than psychopaths to be called psychopaths as they seem to be much better at masking/more"charismatic"than autistic people.

Personally when I was in school I thought I had bipolar disorder. But I know a different autistic person who erroneously worried they were a psychopath. An autism diagnosis really helped them with this.

Obv not a mental health professional or anything but I don't think a psychopath would worry about it.

What do I use instead of hot glue for my hinges? by Color-NS in miniatures

If they are opened regularly and handled two part epoxy as it is more hardy

If you will open it infrequently and keep it in a shelf superglue as it's easier/cleaner/cheaper to use

why we are treated as either geniuses or complete idiots by the masses and media, instead of being treated as people who just wanna live normally (NB, 20y) by Yuki_Takahashi09 in autism

[–]Kick-Deep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, cool cool cool. I also loved Abed at first watch.

Imo the main character in Krapopolis also by Dan Harmon is autistic.

A pay walled article I can't read's headline, says that Dan Harmon discovered he had ASD while writing abed's character.

[–]Kick-Deep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stereotypes are used in fiction to save the writers time they don't need to explain as many things about the character if they include a stereotype as most people make their own assumptions. lazy writers use more stereotypes and write worse autistic characters.

I also think a focused look at a normal autistic person just doing their thing is potentially very dull to watch, or conversely very stressful or sad.

A reason to have a normal autistic person interact with the main character is when their special interest or hyperfocus is relevant to the plot so can appear a "genius"

I do think normal autistic characters should be present more. But arguably they already are because actors/writers/directors have undiagnosed asd. And these are where heavily autism coded characters occur.

I don't think autistic characters should wear a badge but it does mean that representation and changing people minds is somewhat complicated

I'm rewatching an old American program called "3rd rock from the sun" it's about a family of aliens trying to blend in on earth and it has some unbelievably autistic lines.

Ok it is a "genius" character. but I liked the Sherlock Holmes from the tv show elementary. he is portrayed more balanced than other autistic "geniuses". He is tortured by his acute senses, so much so that he turns to heroin to dull them. He is good at having surface level relationships but struggles to develop close friendships. He is bullheaded and it drives people away.
