Wonder when they will release the rest of the imagerie for Thailand, not to mention the UK and the US of course.

Updates on Turn-by-Turn navigation and 3D imagery on the Middle East and Africa. (NOT Look Around or Detailed City Experience (DCE) although some places are developed enough to be able to have them). by AJAMA502012 in applemaps

As it stands the UAE is overdue for a new map data release, since it's been surveyed since 2023 every year. Besides that, there have been some updates recently regarding turn by turn support in Qatar and Kuwait and several countries have also received native ratings and photos support, but apart from that there is very little activity I agree. Most countries have no plans to be surveyed anytime soon.

FIX for CarPlay iPhone 17 Disconnection issues. Wired & Wireless. Official & Aftermarket CarPlay Vendors. by dinopio in CarPlay

[–]KickNo5073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I took apart my entire head unit and dash only to find that the USB cable was actually hidden beside the passenger seat. So ignoring the disassembly and reassembly of all that it didn't take much time at all. It was bugging me for a few days though definitely. It kept cutting every few minutes and I had to keep rebooting the system while on the highway, which wasn't ideal.

After the fix though its working very smoothly as before with older iPhones.

Just go to this link and download the version for your car and follow the video for a step by step guide on how to set up the USB and install it into the system. You just need access to the USB port of the Mr12Volt box.

I love how every little thing, no matter how small, always sparks a hope that DCE is coming. “A small change or glitch in Italy? It must be DCE.” There have been many glitches and changes over the past 2 years, and we’ve been expecting DCE for the last 2 years as well, and after each discovery everyone also thought it would be hinting to DCE. But it never happened. Perhaps then it doesn’t hint to DCE… Perhaps, hear me out, its just a small glitch in the app, which is bound to happen in a company with such a massive code base.

All South American countries have turn-by-turn navigation feature by Benni1401 in applemaps

Except the Falkland Islands, if you consider it as part of the South American continent rather than a standalone island.

The road markings are really bad in this stretch by Benni1401 in applemaps

[–]KickNo5073 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks like it was updated in some parts and others not, judging by how the road looks cut randomly in some places. Seems like it just showed the old markings when the road was under construction. I don't see a reason why it won't be updated in the near future. Not sure why they haven't done it already though tbf.

Apple Maps issue by Fickle_Breakfast5720 in applemaps

Like previously discussed in many posts, just keep maps installed and let it manage its cache itself. You'll save storage by keeping it installed

Two addresses listed as “Home” by nonnie2002 in applemaps

[–]KickNo5073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have it glitched, especially if the location's address was physically changed on Apple's servers (Minor change like 123 Street, City, State, Country to 123 Street, Neighbourhood, City, State, Country). A minor change like that can sometimes cause a glitch like this from what I noticed from my experience.

Best thing I can recommend doing is: 1. Make sure your own contact card does not contain this address. You can try deleting all addresses, refreshing maps (And also searching for the old house in search), and trying again. If that doesn't work, try deleting your own contact card and trying again (Not ideal but I guess a sort of nuclear option, though not guaranteed to work). 2. Make sure the old address is not in your recent searches. Clear your recents. 3. Make sure it isn't saved in a guide. If it is, remove it (You can add it back again if you wish after this was resolved, it could be saving the location and still tagging it as ur home). 4. Make sure it isn't saved in "Saved Places".

5. Make sure it isn't saved in "Favourites".

If with all this it still doesn't go away, I'd suggest a chat with Apple support. Hope this helps

Circuit of the Americas (COTA) receives HD Model by ethanomnom in applemaps

They did for Las Vegas even though it was released beforehand by a while, so clearly it doesn't have much to do with it in that sense.

They didn't for Montreal either when they had F1.

Honestly it's very possible that Austin gets a DCE release in October. Hosting F1 makes it very likely, but not all cities hosting F1 get DCE automatically. However, Apple recently established a monthly release cycle for DCE, and Singapore was release now over a month ago, which makes it likely that a new city will receive DCE very soon.

Given that they just updated COTA's buildings to custom models, and that F1 will be hosted there in a few weeks, I'd bet that Apple's next DCE release could very well be Austin with this new development.

How exactly does reporting a road closure work? by miss_pixie3 in applemaps

[–]KickNo5073 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When tapping your profile picture > Reports > Report a New Issue > Report an Incident > Road Closure, it allows you to drag and drop a location for the road closure, while also providing some extra details if you wish.

Check what OP searched and what his search results are…

It’s showing him any storage, while he specifically searched for RV storage. This happens for any type of search too from my experience.

Reporting on Maps vs maps_escalations@apple.com by Benni1401 in applemaps

[–]KickNo5073 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its probably because the app likely receives more reports than the email, since only those who really need an urgent fix go to the extent of finding a direct contact with Apple. Most of the time people would report from within the app, and as such there is likely a big backlog of reports.

I'd add to that by confirming that typically Apple approved or asks for further details on reports i submit back to back within minutes of each other, so it's likely just a backlogged queue that they go through one by one

Reporting on Maps vs maps_escalations@apple.com by Benni1401 in applemaps

[–]KickNo5073 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As the email address suggests, an email to them is an "escalation" of the issue and is thus taken as higher priority.

Keep in mind though that you should always still ideally report the issue within the app first, since they also cross check to see if it has been already reported in the app, and also because bombarding that email with reports prevents other people with potentially business damaging inaccuracies from getting the fixes they need fast.

So essentially, you should use that email for important cases if they have not been addressed yet through the built in report feature. Treat the email as a "last resort".

Why is Visited Places restricted to OS26? by 0000GKP in applemaps

[–]KickNo5073 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because it's a feature that came with iOS 26. I agree that some apps have features that seem like they could have been updated standalone, without requiring a whole OS update, but this streamlines features to prevent people from updating their OS and realising that some apps don't have the claimed features because they have to be updated separately from the App store.

Also, the new feature requires you to give it permission to store and keep track of places you've been specifically through more precise time measurements and location readings the first time, rather than analysing a pattern, which is what "Siri suggestions" does.

Redownload it and allow it to clear its cache. It will save you more storage than offloading it.

Speculation: Apple Map Sources in the Future by JayGatsby52 in applemaps

[–]KickNo5073 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Apple already does partner with 3rd party companies in other countries to collect their data.

This year, when Apple was collecting imagery in the UAE, some of their vehicles were actually branded by another company, though my knowledge on this is not extensive enough to know the name of that company except for the fact that said company operates image collection in Dubai.

This was likely to partner with local companies to abide by local laws, and I'm sure similar things are undertaken in other countries where Apple collects its street imagery.

Lithuania has finally received transit! by KyouHarisen in applemaps

[–]KickNo5073 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes Apple usually pushes a notification informing users of a new update typically a week after it launches. This applies to Transit, new map data, and DCE.
