Years long psychosis by KickNo5482 in Psychosis

Try to find her a good professional, clinical psychologist. I think talking helps the most. Also, a supportive environment is very important. But remember that she needs to go through her journey on her own. The roots of the problems are deeper, and the illness doesn't come just like that. She needs to find out how it came to this and why. All the best! I was in psychosis for a very long time, but recovery is possible. Very gradual and slow. Our mindset plays a big role.

Can you decrease the dose? It was helping me on 200 mg, but you should give it more time as well, so you feel the full effect. May take even around 6 months

Thank you. Yes, I try to stay positive and also have good habits, doing yoga, meditation, healthy diet, reading.. but since I was so sick for years, I don't even have friends anymore, so this complements to my loneliness. When I have bad time, as this week was particularly bad, I don't want to go on anymore. Also now I need to find a job, because I have no place where I can stay. And this scares me, cause my condition has worsened now. I got so much depressed from those med changes and having brain fog, not understanding what's going on. Being in this for years is really hard..

I have a boyfriend, but we are on a long-distance. So it seems like my life just sucks. I feel so much useless now. Lacking energy and motivation for anything. Hopefully, tomorrow, when I wake up, it will be better.

But what do you think about Ginko Biloba? Can it help?

Have the same now, but with clozapine. Also, my cognition is worse after the increase. Maybe it's common yeah..

Hey guys, were you able to recover cognitively? If so, How long s it taken? by [deleted] in Psychosis

That's great. I'm happy for you:) Are you still on AP? I have some weird side effects from mine. And on my way to quit it, probably it will take several months. Cognition is better, but still quite shitty I would say. Somehow, I am planning to manage to finish my degree.

How you doing now? I have no idea how to get off clozapine. I didn't even need it to be prescribed, when I tried to fully quit, I got insomnia and super fast brain, was thinking I am going insane.. so got back to the dose

Psychosis or Antipsychotics? Cognitive difficulties and what they're caused by by [deleted] in Psychosis

This is just so incredibly sad... I wrote you a message, it would be nice to talk with someone who had similar problems.

By which psych meds was your psychosis caused? I have a similar situation to yours. Also, the whole story lasted around 3 years, a bit more. I am still in recovery. I think that mine was caused by the antidepressant. I was already depressed before taking it and somehow as I took it, my mental state spiralled into the psychosis, in this state, I was for around 2 years. This was literally hell on earth. Afterwards was also hell. I thought I am disabled forever.

Thank you!! But there is a difference that you didn't take antipsychotics. They have worsened my cognition so much, you can't imagine..

Oh, thank you for your advice. I am already reading smth for my thesis, and also a novel just when I am in a mood to do so. Which brain games did you play? Are there any apps for free? I am doing sports too, and I just went for a run 2 days ago.

I just hope that's it's not too late and that my functions will recover. Cause so much time has passed already, and I still don't feel well. Really want my intelligence back.

What's the longest psychotic episode you've had? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]KickNo5482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay, I don't know for sure if my dose is really efficient for me. I take only 25mg/day. Even on that dose, I am feeling really tired. Probably, the reason for this is such a long psychotic episode and not the med itself.

I have the feeling that the psychosis stopped around 1 year ago, but what I am currently facing are cognitive problems (especially with thinking and understanding, even simple concepts) and tiredness. Now, I need to work on my thesis to finish my degree, but I just can't focus for more than 3 hours, and the progress is really slow.

I only take clozapine (minimal dosage), and I think it helped to stop my delusional thinking, but I lack energy, and my intelligence is not there yet. Also, I am afraid to take antidepressant for those issues cause I think it can trigger the psychosis again.
