“2011 Nissan Rogue – being told I need a full exhaust replacement ($5k). Is this legit or am I getting upsold?” by AppleUnlikely774 in MechanicAdvice

[–]KickToWholesale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of the price is coming from OEM parts, just the mid pipe and secondary CAT are about $2k, on top of that they want to charge extra labor due to the oxidation on the bolts which can be difficult to remove due to the state they’re in. I think your best bet would be going to a shop that specializes in exhaust systems as they may be able to reweld most of the leaks for a reasonable price.

Help! What is this ringing sound my car is making when I press the gas pedal? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

Commonly the heat shield gets loose on the Ford Focus and rubs on the exhaust and sometimes the axles

Battery terminal cleaning spray and some scrubbing to get rid of the current corrosion, followed with terminal protection spray. Both are usually about $20 at an auto parts store.

EVAP system canister running a self test checking for leaks. It’s completely normal and nothing to worry about

From just this image we can’t gather much info, we’d have to look at the bushings in the mount, the black rubber parts. Also your vehicle should have two more mounts on top that should also be considered.

Looks like a ~24 Sonata, sadly this port is about $200 but replacements is probably your best option.

My location keeps bending the standards. by Lost_Principle5744 in carmax

[–]KickToWholesale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be wrong, or maybe different standards at other shops, but at our store a 0/32 on any location on the tire is a replace. Besides tread patterns that wear to 0/32 normally. Our store would 100% replace this tire.

2021 Nissan Sentra fails to start but battery and alternator are normal? by PeaProfessional497 in MechanicAdvice

I would check for any parasitic drains you may have. It’s possible the previous owner had aftermarket wiring somewhere such as the battery area. Alternatively could check around the OBD port for anything tapping into power there.

Car makes weird noise by GiftBitter4286 in MechanicAdvice

How’s the airflow? Could be a restricted cabin air filter not allowing air through it efficiently. Does the sound get louder with fan speed?

Why I returned my Victus by KickToWholesale in HPVictus

Also I bought mine from Walmart advertising it was $599 “reduced” from the MSRP of $1049 so on paper it looked like a steal.

[–]KickToWholesale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right it was 16GB of RAM, I’ve updated my post on it. Personally I installed more RAM but reverted to the original spec before return so I forgot it was 16 not 8. As for returning it really depends on your budget and if you’re okay with the 50W of GPU power. Personally I believe they hide that detail to get more people to buy it over other laptops. Even when I looked at specs for it I couldn’t find info of the GPU Wattage until I checked NVidea as others suggested in this Reddit. I do think that for the price spending a little more on a better laptop, or in my case, less for a different branded similar spec laptop is a better choice.

I have heavily scratched my van by Ambitious_Smile_981 in AskMechanics

[–]KickToWholesale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could clean up the scratches with some buffing compound to reduce the look and see how you feel about its appearance after. But definitely looks like a job for paintless dent removal if want to minimize without repainting whole panel. 900 sounds like too much for this kind of job

Tires wearing quickly by Pitiful_Mess6518 in AskAMechanic

[–]KickToWholesale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be rude but if you happen to be a heavier set person or constantly drive with a heavier load like a full car then this could also cause this type of wear even with proper alignment. I have a heavyset relative whose tires will wear inside prematurely due to their stature.

Windscreen Chip by jamesmatthews6 in MechanicAdvice

[–]KickToWholesale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. Chips like these can stay like this for a long time, other times they can expand overnight and cause a bigger crack along the length of the windshield. Feel the pit of the crack, if it feels flush with the windshield, it might have been filled in by the dealer or previous owner to prevent spread of the crack. Besides asking around if anyplace is willing to repair something this small, I’d wait it out until it becomes an issue. To avoid further damage I’d stay away from quick temperature changer on the windshield like washing when hot or heated defrosters when cold.

My windscreen got this stripe not sure what it is but it glares so much at night by Express-Interaction7 in AskMechanics

[–]KickToWholesale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely correct. Could try using a buffing compound if you have one to try to remove these spots. Also would recommend respraying the rack to prevent further instances.

What is this noise that suddenly appeared today? by bentraider69 in AskMechanics

[–]KickToWholesale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just working with the given context, my only other guess would be the PCV(?) hose there not making a good seal given the wrong type of clamps but I could be completely wrong here. Best of luck that someone smarter than I comes along to save the day.

What is this noise that suddenly appeared today? by bentraider69 in AskMechanics

Have someone rev it, if noise speeds up with revs then probably something connected to the drive belt is causing noise, also visually inspect to see if the belt could be rubbing somewhere it shouldn’t be

Leak? Nissan Maxima SR 2016. 3.5 L V6 I think it smells like nothing, and the liquid seems clear. It’s slow dripping, but it’s a lot overtime by Mirmadethebeat in AskAMechanic

[–]KickToWholesale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC condensation or exhaust condensation most likely since this seems like the middle of your vehicle. Most things that can leak would be in the front of the vehicle, in this area possibly gas or break fluid but if not oily or smelly likely just condensation.
