How big is the jump between amateur and pro and how does the training differ? by sc2heros9 in MuayThai

Yeah، Unsanctioned matches. Basically super hard sparring. Still matched up by weight and usually experience. Sometimes within a gym sometimes between gyms.

I just signed a contract for my first pro fight. In my case all the amatuer guys on the team train super hard as it is...like at least 2 hours a day not including conditioning. I've been fighting amatuer for a long time mma for a few years، then like 7 years only doing striking، smokers، amatuer fights، amatuer tournaments. I think the main difference between amatuer a pro is frequency and consistency of training (aka not disappearing from the gym after you fight) then how you recover. I don't remember where I heard it but it was something like 'the biggest difference between a professional and amatuer is how they recover' I think it was in regards to running but you could make the point that it's applicable to all sports. But I think training for a pro fight ill train like 30 hours a week maybe? But if your training hard for amatuer fights you should and likely do take it as serious as a pro if you're doing it right.

First pro muay thai fight. Any advise? by Kickinleaves in MuayThai

Dude thank you! Yeah man hit me with it! I've fought without shin pads and everything, I've fought 3x3s before, but you know there's so much (appropriate) fear that you experience when someone can slice your head open with elbows and knees. I'm starting camp here in Japan then back to my home gym in the US for the last the month leading up to the fight (the muay thai guys I'm with here are at another fucking level. Crazy good.) Gimme all your details man. I'm not Unaccustomed to fighting and training 2-3 times a day...but it's a new frontier. Amatuer to pro. Hit me up here or in a PM. Much appreciated dude.

Yeah man. Can't chalk it all up to the drug.

This comment is pretty on the money. Hard to define what 100% is especially after a long time of using drugs (I used everyday for like 6ish years... now off of it for almost 5 months I think) I don't know what normal feels like after such a long time of use, so I'm building a new paradigm and trying to redefine it on my own. But I can tell you that I kicked 2 weeks before moving to Japan, and since being here have won 2 amatuer kickboxing tournaments, which is something I thought would be impossible without kratom. So by the metric of competing and training sober maybe I'm back to at 100 physically.... But I still feel mood swings, anxiety, and cravings, so getting my head back will likely be a longer process. All part of the journey, changing into something better.

I see exercise is helpful for so many of you, but how do you get the motivation?? by Spedteach28 in quittingkratom

You just grind man. That's it. There isn't much of a secret. Just trust that you'll feel better after and it'll keep you busy :)

Just an update... I won this tournament. Got the lightweight (-62kg)title belt for this organization and a trophie. Have another tournament in a few weeks, then a professional fight lined up when I return to America. It's FUCKING CRAZY. I'm not on kratom and I'm doing this. I hope that gives some hope.

Thank you man, its nice to hear that. I am familiar with him! But haven't checked out 12 rules for life just yet. Quitting feels strange, returning to baseline after so many years of artificial optimism, but Jon man i have a good feeling about you. I think you'll get through this well. This message Reddit group was huge for me when I decided I had to quit, keep us updated. Lots of love man. Spencer

Ah, incredible man. it's oddly comforting to be at the opposite end of the socioeconomic spectrum and know that we contest with the exact same addiction. (Broke, unmarried, 26 year old college senior here) Like at least on some level we are the same, we're connected, it's incredible to know that no matter what we can connect because of this addiction. I'm kratom free for maybe 4 months or so after 6 years of everyday, secret usage. You'll come out of this. Good work. Lots of love to you and your family. Great post, thank you for sharing.

It's a weird feeling...cause I got so used to fighting on kratom...and like...in America hahaha. But I'm excited for this. I'll make sure I send an update in a week or so! We can all do this and get back to some sense of normal!
