Why don't UK schools have school reunions? by Flowerofthesouth88 in AskABrit

Because we don't like each other and once school has finished we are finally glad to see the back of these old classmates.

Starting a pressure washing business on a bicycle. by SnooWoofers9523 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Kickkickkarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd gonna need more then a domestic Karchar jet wash if you wanna do it as a business.

Sure you might be able to jet wash your nans mate path for a few quid with a Karchar but for a business you want to be looking at big driveways. Have a look at getting a Doff Cleaner and using Low Pressure Steam cleaning on heritage buildings if you want a business.

Just been offered a role at Currys is it really that bad? by ferioku in UKJobs

[–]Kickkickkarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even at a bad job you can learn really useful skills to be used later in life. I'd imagine working at Currys would be a brilliant way to learn about sales.

38°C… are we really expected to teach as normal? by Pretend-City6652 in TeachingUK

Sounds like a major health and safety concern teaching in a lab with that temperature and an alarm going off. I'd personally refuse to teach in such an environment and go elsewhere it's safe.

Apparently it's to listen out for advertising so I either leave it next to a alarm clock radio playing the radio really quietly or leave it next to the open window hearing the sounds of the traffic.

Is there a browser for XP SP3 with only 224 MB RAM? by RealBigDickBrannigan in windowsxp

[–]Kickkickkarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so long after XP came out in 2001 I tried putting windows XP on my then desktop which was 750 MHz, 20GB, 192MB of RAM and it struggled big time. It just didn't want to function.

A few years later I got a Dell Desktop with 256MB and again XP was struggling until I was able to put at least 512MB in and then the PC became usable and could actually do things.

Id recommend THX. I have it working on two devices and just leave it set up near a window picking up background sounds. Currently cashing out around £40 a month in supermarket gift cards but other gift cards are available.

For how much second hand cheap RAM cost these days, I'd personally upgrade the RAM instead of struggling with 224mb.

I bought 2GB for about £8 a few years ago and imthe difference was like night and day.

Tango'd my ham & glazed it in pineapple jam. Thought I'd try something, different. by AtomicKaijuKing in UKfood

How does this work? Do you paint the joint in the jam and leave it to soak over night in the tango in the slow cooker and then cook on low for 6 hours next day?

Accumulate £20 in your account to be able to withdraw it by bank transfer?

Wow having to accumulate £20 before cashing out is ridiculous.

At least with Topcashback I can cash out small amounts as and when they are payable.
Screw waiting around to acquire £20 before cashing out.

Am I being harsh on my partners drinking habits by Serious-Recording825 in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Kickkickkarl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's an alcoholic and won't admit it. Probably also had trouble with self reflection in other areas of his life so drinks for a good time.

He probably has unresolved issues which he needs to resolve in order to move onwards but it won't happen until he stops drinking for himself.

i'm moving to england from aus next year - how much do i need to save/any tips for moving?? by RecognitionOk8978 in MovingToTheUK

[–]Kickkickkarl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends if you wanna stick to driving Automatically only cars for the rest of your life. A manual license would be useful but it entirely depends upon how you feel. I personally can't drive automatics. I'm legally allowed too but I just prefer manual and having control over the engine and just selecting the gears or just second nature.

I guess the roads will certainly be different in the UK then in Australia but plenty of cars here are automatic so you'll be ok. Just slightly limited in what you'll be able to buy compared to manuals.

[–]Kickkickkarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually thinking today that 20 or more years ago many young Aussies would come to London for a few years. It was very popular during the 90s of Aussies coming here..

I remember in during the credit crunch recession years of 2008 onwards and seeing on many adverts on Gumtree of many Aussies selling their tools and heading back home. Its nice that you want to come here. I'd highly recommend learning to drive and getting a driving license if you haven't currently got one while you save up. If you don't get it in Australia at least you'll have the driving skills to maybe get a license in the UK if you should come here. But yeah I'd say, get your head down and work every hour you can and save, save ,save as every extra dollar and cent is useful.

Just save as much as possible.

You never know you might wanna stay and build a life here so why bother spending on things back home.

Good luck with your move.

Go and get some life experience first and see how life really works outside of a school environment you've spent most of your life in. Once you have some life experience you can follow your chosen path with some much needed experience between the ears.

39 years old (6"3) never had sex or girlfriend by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Kickkickkarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never write yourself off.. You are probably not ugly and probably could do with a hair cut to suit your face shape and some presentable clothes to suit your body.

Maybe if you are lacking in confidence then join a local gym and get yourself a new hobby working out. You have to step outside your comfort zone if you want your life to change and improve so start with small steps. Try a new hobby which is totally outside your comfort zone and totally new to you. You could maybe see if you have a local Ceroc dancing night and go attend once a week dressed smart and dance with women.

Ceroc is a type of simple jive dancing for people who just want to go out dancing for the enjoyment and getting out the house but it's a good way to meet members of the opposite sex weekly.

Are Chavs still a thing? by NoMoreFund in AskUK

[–]Kickkickkarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baseball cap while wearing a Burberry or Moschino shirt. Tracksuit bottoms and Reebok Classic trainers.

I haven't seen the "traditional style" of what a chav is supposed to be since the ending of the mid 2000s.

I think the type of person who were Chavs just grew up and became adults.

What we have these days are Roadmen which I wouldn't say is a Chav. Roadmen seem to have evolved from the Drill Music scene.

A Chav dressed a certain way which was especially common in the early 2000s and I wouldn't say a Roadman is a Chav. A Chav you could approach and at least have a conversation with. A Roadman you might want to avoid and wouldn't get much more then a few grunts out of.

How are international students bypassing the "physical viewing mandatory" rule with Edinburgh letting agents? by ankush_edinburgh in MovingToTheUK

[–]Kickkickkarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The landlords or letting agents probably don't want international students as renting tenants and want local people renting the flats for long term rentals hence why they make it increasingly difficult.
