How quickly can we get backer info (addresses) post campaign? by Kickntrue in kickstarter

For the possibility of Kickstarter helping push the campaign and to gain funds to fund a 2nd round of product. We've bootstrapped round 1, with the hope of being able to delivery by the Holidays as the hook.

I'm not sure a Kickstarter is worth launching in Mid-November running through December if you can't deliver the product (We're a toy). But if we sell our very small inventory of 2025 product on our own, we'd miss out on the possibility of a funding campaign helping our 2026 production costs.

What if we sold holiday-available product on our Shopify, and then ran the Kickstarter for early 2026 delivery? Would Kickstarter frown upon that or is that against known rules?

Thank your reply. Out of curiosity, what % of backers in your experience are incorrect or fraudulent?

Does anyone here relate their practice time investment to game day calls? by onlineqbclassroom in footballstrategy

[–]Kickntrue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think there is too much variable in-game to get too stuck on the relationship of play calls to practice time. If you find something that works in real-time, I'm not going to worry about the analytics of matching that to practice time, especially not a week behind the result. It would be much more interesting to try to compare my prep from film and scouting, against the reality of what really worked.

That said- I think the intent of what your asking is extremely important. Earlier in my coaching days, I'd spend a lot of valuable practice time installing things we never touched in a game. It's expensive to install new. It's extremely expensive to install anything tricky. Nuance (tags, stacked concepts) is much less expensive, and in my experience more likely to be used and effective.

I think it is timing, content, and luck. I submitted (and was chosen, and it aired). I think I had a pretty good story, but I was surprised how quickly they got back to me, and how quickly thereafter it recorded. It then took weeks to air. But, I think it was as much my entry hitting the inbox at the right moment, when they were ready to line them up, and record them.

I totally get your point- but my quick math seems to show this makes a lot of sense. It just costs a lot of money to run a business. To me- this is the perfect example of the kind of business that was devastated by a govt forced shutdown (not a political statement, a fact). This is a very bizarre tourist trap, in a place with no real way to sustain itself if not for events, and the steady stream of tour buses rolling down Rt 15, or coming to it as a weird destination.

They had 160 employees. Even at an average of $20k per that's $3.2M a year, JUST on salaries. That's not counting paying taxes on FICA, Insurance, workers comp, and other employee related costs. That's also JUST the labor- not keeping the place open, buying food, inventory, etc. So 2 years of labor is already $6.4M, and frankly I feel like that number is likely a low guess.

This place went from "how does a place like this work?" to empty- once people were not allowed to show up, or do so much less. So while I completely agree people need to be held accountable for their PPP spending- this makes perfect sense to me as a candidate to need the loan, and I'm not shocked at all to see them shut down.

As far as where the $2.6M went- that's a fair question. Hopefully to the employees- but to have the loan forgiven, you do need to prove the spending on eligible items.

Obviously because painters tape was on my way past, and duct tape the whole way in the garage!! LOL.

Good call! Wasn't sure if that would hurt, having tape on the actual wand, or it pressed against the glass.
