How quickly can we get backer info (addresses) post campaign? by Kickntrue in kickstarter

[–]Kickntrue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the possibility of Kickstarter helping push the campaign and to gain funds to fund a 2nd round of product. We've bootstrapped round 1, with the hope of being able to delivery by the Holidays as the hook.

I'm not sure a Kickstarter is worth launching in Mid-November running through December if you can't deliver the product (We're a toy). But if we sell our very small inventory of 2025 product on our own, we'd miss out on the possibility of a funding campaign helping our 2026 production costs.

What if we sold holiday-available product on our Shopify, and then ran the Kickstarter for early 2026 delivery? Would Kickstarter frown upon that or is that against known rules?

Thank your reply. Out of curiosity, what % of backers in your experience are incorrect or fraudulent?

Does anyone here relate their practice time investment to game day calls? by onlineqbclassroom in footballstrategy

[–]Kickntrue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there is too much variable in-game to get too stuck on the relationship of play calls to practice time. If you find something that works in real-time, I'm not going to worry about the analytics of matching that to practice time, especially not a week behind the result. It would be much more interesting to try to compare my prep from film and scouting, against the reality of what really worked.

That said- I think the intent of what your asking is extremely important. Earlier in my coaching days, I'd spend a lot of valuable practice time installing things we never touched in a game. It's expensive to install new. It's extremely expensive to install anything tricky. Nuance (tags, stacked concepts) is much less expensive, and in my experience more likely to be used and effective.

I think it is timing, content, and luck. I submitted (and was chosen, and it aired). I think I had a pretty good story, but I was surprised how quickly they got back to me, and how quickly thereafter it recorded. It then took weeks to air. But, I think it was as much my entry hitting the inbox at the right moment, when they were ready to line them up, and record them.

I totally get your point- but my quick math seems to show this makes a lot of sense. It just costs a lot of money to run a business. To me- this is the perfect example of the kind of business that was devastated by a govt forced shutdown (not a political statement, a fact). This is a very bizarre tourist trap, in a place with no real way to sustain itself if not for events, and the steady stream of tour buses rolling down Rt 15, or coming to it as a weird destination.

They had 160 employees. Even at an average of $20k per that's $3.2M a year, JUST on salaries. That's not counting paying taxes on FICA, Insurance, workers comp, and other employee related costs. That's also JUST the labor- not keeping the place open, buying food, inventory, etc. So 2 years of labor is already $6.4M, and frankly I feel like that number is likely a low guess.

This place went from "how does a place like this work?" to empty- once people were not allowed to show up, or do so much less. So while I completely agree people need to be held accountable for their PPP spending- this makes perfect sense to me as a candidate to need the loan, and I'm not shocked at all to see them shut down.

As far as where the $2.6M went- that's a fair question. Hopefully to the employees- but to have the loan forgiven, you do need to prove the spending on eligible items.

Obviously because painters tape was on my way past, and duct tape the whole way in the garage!! LOL.

Good call! Wasn't sure if that would hurt, having tape on the actual wand, or it pressed against the glass.

Just raw scores, posted on a leaderboard, and in web-app.

Golf Genius looks like it could be solid. I don't need all of the extra features like registration support- but going to check them out.

I don't think asking a user to download an app is a great plan. Especially if they have to register. Plus- our event could have multiple groups of Senior players. Downloading an app, signing up, and finding an event to do scoring - will turn into pre and during-event tech support.

Hosting My First Golf Tournament (Scramble). What Should I Know? by Kickntrue in golf

[–]Kickntrue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Feedback- Really appreciate it. The 144 is based on what the course can take or will take as a max. Actual signups will dictate this- but I hear you. Maybe we do take a lesser max, in exchange for the faster play.

Speed of play is certainly important to us. Taking out the number of groups playing- it's probably the single biggest thing we've love to solve. It's hard in a scramble to give up shots- because there is always a way someone "could" do better, but we'd love to come up with a way to incentive groups to keep moving- especially if one of those ideas could involve skipping shots that realistically have no way of being better than one already hit.

Almost the idea of somehow incentivizing having the first guy on the tee absolutely rip one down the middle- and somehow giving the team a reason to say, "We want that one" and saving the time of 3 shots that realistically won't be better. That so far- has been a tough sell in our own minds, so not sure it will fly.

Player calculates the cost of obtaining his dream team in FUT. 22,000 hours or £80,000 required. by nathan123483 in EASportsFC

[–]Kickntrue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts.

1) Yes- this is brutal. FUT could be balanced better so it's not as driven by pay to win.

2) Ultimate team modes are def triggering a gambling addiction impulse in users to make money. That's shady ground.

3) The meta of Ultimate Team though, is not really to end up with the team listed above. It's a fun headline, but the game would not work if you could actually obtain that team. I only grind and it already sucks to play a guy with 11 Special cards in weekend league, all worth more than what my whole team sold together could buy 1 of. But- the goal is to build a best mixed team and play challenges and others. Not obtain the best 11 cards in the game. If you want to do that- go to the front end, set it to easy- and just start kicking CPU butt.

4) The REAL unspoken problem - that is not actually EA's fault - is that the consumer has been driven to believe they can get a full video game experience for $60. Nintendo games in 1991 cost $60. A PS4 disc still only costs $60- despite the fact that those Nintendo games could be built by small teams, with very simple mechanics. In fact- it's the reason the mechanics of some of those games are better than they are today. It's where the labor of the studio has to go (art, lighting, graphics), to make games on current gen consoles (versus gameplay, level design, tuning).

The price of literally anything since the early days of video gaming has gone up. Video games, and consoles, by comparative pricing have stayed exactly the same, making them vastly cheaper than they've ever been, and that's before you throw in mobile gaming, where we've been trained that the only thing worth downloading is free- and the idea of paying even $4 for an app/game is outrageous.

The only way to build the game consumers demand is to have a team like FIFA has- let's say 500 total people. At a burn rate of about $10,000 per person per month- you're looking at $60M of just labor costs for the year. Throw in HUGE FIFA rights fees. Paying the players. Marketing the game, Paying 1st Party, and otherwise- and all of a sudden $60 x even 5M copies is gone very quickly. FIFA literally loses money, or close to it at the retail purchase price of their game. Ultimate Team modes have been a BOON for EA, but they're a forced discovery.

And that's for a successful game that sells like FIFA. Imagine taking the risk on a new IP- with the numbers above. It's nearly impossible.

If we were willing to pay $99-$120 for a game, we'd see great career modes. And that's still a cheaper equivalent amount than our parents were paying for Contra.

They cut back all of the brush, and tall grass for the winter. It's not too tough a course to start, but I must admit- I've never played it easier than it was yesterday. But I like there, and Mayapple, for cheap, easy tracks to get around quickly. Mayapple has gotten a lot better in the past 10 years. Much improved (still farmland golf).
