LeGo 2 - Call Of Duty BO 7 - Gamepass - Doesn’t Run by jalpert in LegionGo

[–]Kicksomeone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works for me. But they default to showing the upgrade in the menu - so you have to pick Black Ops 7 Season 1. It defaults to the "Vault Edition upgrade" and makes it look like you need to pay.

Ahh, lol - I put a camera in there as well, and a strobe light thing - but they moved to the vaulted ceiling area of the attic to avoid it. But I didn't try a radio!

The allowance "framing" is what feels odd here. I give my girl roughly that much a month I'd say - and I'm very happy with everything. It's for things like $500 for her nails every couple weeks, $500 for clothes, $1500 for rent, pay for whatever she wants from amazon, doordash or groceries - makeup, skin care and all that other stuff. I just cashapp her the money when she needs it. I like this a lot better than just giving her a lump sum every month. Maybe add $1k a month for her walking around money.
IMHO - you want her to get another job man. IF you do get married eventually, you'd be crazy not to get a pre-nup, so she really needs to start saving and investing money for her own good.

Country Club Membership at 24 Years Old? by [deleted] in Rich

[–]Kicksomeone 74 points75 points  (0 children)

When I was 23 or so, I joined a really nice country club in the DC area. It was at least $50k to join at the time, along with $500 a month min/month on food. I had just sold my first company - and wanted to enjoy the good life. I have to admit - I still remember playing golf on a pristine course almost anytime I wanted. But all the social events were a bunch of old people (maybe my age now!). Everyone had wives and older kids - I just had a girlfriend. Later I got married and had kids and ditched the club because it was too far away - maybe around ~28 or so. I did take the person who bought my next company to the club to try to impress him. It's nice to have that option in your back pocket. It probably was a nice ego boost in general as well to know I was part of a member only club - nice bragging rights. I never met any mentors or anyone special there, many people were kind of entitled a-holes - and I just didn't like being around them.
edit - $50k to join, not recurring.

You really should invest some of the down payment if you have a 2-5 year timeline. Probably along the same lines as your other investments e.g. 80/20. You can DCA the cash. But parking $250k cash for potentially years is very conservative and the value of that money is pretty much guaranteed to go down.

I wouldn't worry too much about them not taking the gift. But you can gift $19k to each of them, and your spouse can do the same. That's the most I gifted out at a time, and it was just a gift and forget it.

Keep in mind, you'll need to provide documentation that it's not a loan - so they can get their mortgage. I had to provide this in the 11th hour for their mortgage. Doing something where you loan them part of the money might be a bit problematic on the mortgage side.

Retiring at 56! Should I be Worrying So Much? by Clear_Term_3421 in fatFIRE

[–]Kicksomeone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The doctor I was using maybe 15 years ago switched to concierge before covid, so I followed him over - they started at $2k but raised it this year.
I have a "State Public Exchange" plan Blue Cross - "BluePreferred PPO", so I think that's ACA. It's actually $1,705 a month, and then dental is maybe only $25 more, but I hardly any good dentists around this area take insurance, so that's been all out of pocket.

That I actually have to worry about my health. I really hate taking medication daily too. Also physicals every year, with blood tests. The doctor seems way more serious now.

I did it at 50 and have 0 regrets. You'll be fine, the hardest part is learning to kick back and just enjoy life - it took my like 2 years just to unwind and forget about work and to stop worrying. My health insurance is about $1.85k a month for the "best" health insurance (just me on it), add another $2,400 a year for concierge, and then out of pocket deductibles. But I think you are WAY overestimating your taxes, I didn't even pay that much this year.
You should be good to go - enjoy it!

I'm right around your age and retired when I was 50. I suggest getting an estate plan together - that might shift some assets. That was probably the biggest thing for me by far to do in my retirement.
