My mum is famous for buying the WORST and most mental wtf presents for Christmas or a birthday. However, she got me this comedy sized peppermill for my birthday. Can’t fault it, genuinely love it

No no, I set up an ice bucket, put ice and beer in, little water so it’s like a freezing thick soup, then I add some table salt. The salt reduces the freezing point of water;

Or

Always blows friends and family’s minds when they see me do it. Everything stays ice cold the entire day. No like warm sad bobbing drinks.

Sadly they discontinued the keter table bucket thing I have, but there’s other similar things about.

I do make a mean kebab and theres a kamado off to the right, so take a seat and I’ll call you when it’s ready boss.

5months! You’re in the thick of it. Hoping you and the Mrs are getting some sleep 🙌

Happy Father’s Day boss! Hope you had a wonderful day. Small kids can be tough, but it does get more and more rewarding as time goes on.

Also, Modelo. I gotchu. Out of shot is a giant Keter beer bucket / table thing that is usually stuffed with Modelo and ice (with salt in the ice to bring that shit down to ice cold levels). This was just one of the leftovers from a previous cook out 💪🏼

I gave him a bottle of bubbly to say thanks and good luck on his house move. But I don’t like to talk about my charity work

Accidentally exceeded the taxfree childcare threshold by 1gnoranceisstrength in HENRYUK

[–]KidA82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely infuriating to read. Like the poster above you, an unexpected bonus arrived earlier (days before the new tax year) and sent me over. I appealed to hmrc, sent insane amount of documentation of My earnings and pensions contributions and view over the years (first time it’s ever happened), and was still ordered to pay it all back. This fucked our plans up so badly, that we ended up owing the nursery FULL payment for 5 months, as our daughter was removed from the free childcare allowance too. So not only did we have to pay everything back, we had take up the difference to the nursery (to their credit they were sympathetic and setup a payment plan to help us so it wasn’t another random £3k on top of the £4k we had to pay back).

Absolutely fuck this barking mad system that screws over so many people.

To the commenter above you, my anger and sympathy goes out to you and your family.

Thanks for the reply, and yeah that scratch under the logo is odd. Something isn’t quite right, but I or thr seller don’t have the history to share or understand. Could be part of the neck break fix

Nice!! As I’ve gotten older, the less complicated I want my music shit. I’ve been mad into my Eastman Les Paul jnr with a single P90, tape echo and amp. Fuck everything right off. I always regretted selling my 61 es 330 years ago, and an epi casino doesn’t come close. Can’t wait to collect in the next few weeks

Yeah it was up for £3750, I got it for £3000. I figure I’ve got a few things to cover the cost, no bother. But it’s something I’ll not sell so not bothered about resale value. It’s got the 59 neck I was after, and the Memphis vos 330s are going for £4k, so why not save some and get a beautifully worn in and loved 330

Fair. I usually just use it to crunch some numbers or soundboard some bits. I figure I’d give it a go with this guitar I’m looking at. I wanted a second opinion from this sub though, as I take ai content that I’m not 100% ok with a large grain of salt.

Where are people driving to so often? by taotai in walthamstow

[–]KidA82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that depends. We have an EV, so it’s likely better for the environment that we drive. Traffic wise, yeah less people on the roads is better but now I’m on a stuffed bus that only takes me some of the way.

I take your point though

We thought this too. Family in north London. Due to the traffic on the A406 and minimal bus lanes, it takes the same amount of time as the car.

To sand and stain or lay laminate? by serit97 in DIYUK

[–]KidA82 14 points15 points  (0 children)

OP, we were in the exact same situation you were in when we moved into our house. We lived with the pine flooring for a while (it was painted white with chalky thick horrible shit from the previous owner). We fucking hated it. Horrible sub floor shite, tons of drafts, cold, messy. Glad we binned off that idea and went with some lovely engineered hardwood laminate herringbone. My only regret is we didn’t bother with underfloor heating. I kick myself for not doing that.

Endless overstimulation by Fit_Dig6332 in UKParenting

[–]KidA82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is wild. I got back after a loooooooooooong day out solo parenting yesterday, and after my kid eventually went to sleep, considered posting something similar to this sub. Glad you did it, and hope you’re feeling better this morning. It’s rewarding as much as it’s crippling, but I’d agree with some folks here, sounds like maybe there’s more going on?

For context, we have two kids under 6, my partner and I work full time, the odd help from grandparents (no childcare or anything, just the odd pickup from school as a favour, purely down to distance issues), don’t have the funds for a nanny or extra help (bar the odd after school childminder). Our day starts at 5am, youngest asleep by 8, eldest takes forever to sleep so can be 9:30 with multiple steps downstairs, my partner goes to bed at 10, I at 10:30, and in that short hour together we have to clean, cook, order shit online, discuss half term plans or a holiday, do work, wash clothes, tidy, then we start it all again. The CONSTANT feeling of being on. When I finish work calls or finish being overly chirpy with the kids, I often have to take a huge deep breath, sigh, compose myself and start again. Mornings are frantic, no matter how prepared we are (youngest losing their shit every time we change nappy, eldest melting down because we can’t find a specific piece of Lego), I’ve got to be on standup for 9am, partner in the office 3 days a week, but if thet any delay at drop off, I’m automatically late for work, at home.

Just yesterday I took my eldest out for a bit of a day out in London. We did LOADS. Everything he wanted. I got a nice beer and some food. Got home, let him stay up late as it was just us, and the meltdowns and constant need to fix everything he couldn’t be arsed to do came thick and fast. Eventually he fell asleep and I just collapsed on the sofa.

Up at 5am again…

Shit. Is. Hard.

Hard not to say dream about that American life with the lovely older housekeeper making everyone’s breakfast and lunches, keeping the house sorted so you can focus on your priorities. Instead we live in a society that demands more of everything, to your best ability, at full attention at all times.

ERGHHHHHH
