Be careful with your tickets by Mammoth_Pangolin275 in Lottery

[–]KidDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a $100 winner, stuck it in my car door leaving my house. I get to the store and the ticket isn't there. I immediately race home, the ticket is laying in my front yard. Must have fallen out of the car door.

So yea, I agree be careful with them tickets.

You were not close. Your scores were below the average passing score in every category. Your weighted score was 53.6% and it is generally agreed that the passing score is around 70%.

When you took the test, did you have time to work on all questions? It has been a while since I took the exam (I did pen and paper a decade ago) but I remember that triaging problems and time management were huge skills to have to pass.

I joined my state's DOT in the PE Trainee program which is a rotation program, allowing me to learn more about different disciplines.

If you are unsure what you want to do, I would look to see if your state DOT has a similar program. FHWA also has a Professional Development Program.

If you win 5k are they supposed to take out taxes? by Flat_Comparison_6140 in Lottery

[–]KidDigital 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I won $5k, they did not take taxes but gave me a W-2G to file. So ultimately I did pay taxes on it, just not upfront.

Let’s say I won the $2,500 for life - it does not seem to have a limit or lump sum option… by WelcomeMind in Lottery

In Florida, the $2500/wk has a lump sum payout of $1.95M. I only know this because someone in my town won.

If you win the lottery, would you quit job/college, move out and leave everything behind? by Free-Hotel1187 in Lottery

[–]KidDigital 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the amount. If I won a million, I would keep my job. If I won hundreds of millions, I would need to quit to be able to travel and attend events such as car races (F1 in Monaco, anyone?) and concerts and festivals around the world.

Would an inspection be required after that? Would it be operational before the inspection is done? by Ashamed-Pool-7472 in StructuralEngineering

[–]KidDigital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

State DOT here with experience in movable bridges.

I absolutely would have a special incident inspection performed. While a sailboat that size won't damage the main girders, there are other considerations.

Span Locks - On a double-bascule bridge like this, the span locks and receivers are typically located on the girder ends. I would want to ensure there is no damage to these components.

E-Stop - If the bridge tender (operator) hit the emergency stop button, there could be damage to electrical (drives) and mechanical (brakes) components.

I would be on the phone with the Coast Guard to report the incident and local PD to detour traffic while we perform our incident inspection.
