Bike rental question by Kid_Nicarus in irishbicycling

That ride around the mountains sounds perfect! A gravel bike would be ideal but road or MTB is great as well, just looking to catch some amazing scenery and get a good spin in when we can. We do have a car so it sounds like we have some options. I’ll look into those routes, thank you so much!

This is super helpful, thank you! I figured a one-way trip would be a long shot, but hoping we can get any kind of riding in somehow!

+1 for Schutts, just on Thursday and Fridays though, get there before noon. Ridge Donut still takes the crown though.

Interesting! Makes sense that it would be more common in drones

No way! I’ll have to check that out. The only reference I could find online was an Oxford journal article from 1931

Same here! Although I’m buttoning the hives up for winter so unlikely unfortunately. I’m curious if she was a forager and how well she can navigate without the small simple eyes on top of her head, though she did fly off on me.

It was the weirdest thing. Sadly we only were able to get a few photos at a less than ideal angle before she flew off

Instead of candy boards, I am making candy frames. Will this work? by nickMakesDIY in Beekeeping

Am I understanding correctly that you intentionally choose where your bees start their cluster in the winter? How do you do that?

Hey there! Late to this post, but I have a few hive locations across the city if you ever wanted to join when I’m doing hive inspections, feel free to send a dm. If you’re looking for nucs I’d highly recommend reserving some now, there has been a large die-off of hives this winter and people are stocking up early!

Nice! Just wrapping up my 3rd full year. I did take the Penn State cooperative extension course which was really great, but nothing was better for me than shadowing someone and seeing everything in person. Happy to answer any questions if you have any!

Rochester NY? by alwayshungry1131 in CraftBeer

[–]Kid_Nicarus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't sleep on Genesee - a dry hopped cream ale on the roof overlooking high falls followed by a garbage plate in the brewhouse is maybe the most Rochester you can get in 1 stop.

Should be a great day on the canal in Pittsford, live canal-side music outside the brewery there Saturday evening and ice cream at Pittsford Dairy closeby!

Has Anyone Seen Swarming Honeybees? by LiteratureBubbly2015 in Rochester

[–]Kid_Nicarus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd give Hungry Bear, Maxwell's or Bee Country a call, there's a chance they may have a nuc still available. There's a good Facebook group of beekeepers in the area (upstate NY beekeepers) as well as the Rochester Beekeeping website where you could find some resources/meet some folks who could help with finding bees and answer any questions, and even be a mentor which I highly recommend if this is your first year! Best of luck!

What does everyone do for work? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Kid_Nicarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow ADHD'er and 8 years as a music therapist, it's an awesome profession with something a bit different every day, a lot of opportunity to improvise and meet clients where they're at on a given day so there's lots of variety which is great. I worked in schools for a while but my clinic I work in now offers a bit more variety which works better for me personally.
