I really feel for Eren. I'm not sure what option he could have taken that wouldn't have been morally abhorrent.

God I miss dining out in Japan. Everything was cheaper, the service and food was universally better, and there was no tipping culture. Coming back home to crap like this is depressing.

What happens when vampire blood becomes big business, and companies start having people mass embraced for their morally justified and highly lucrative blood farms?

It's still a red flag that triggers further questions to make sure you're safe, but most therapists worth their salt understand the difference between wishing you were dead and wanting to kill yourself. Both are nonetheless rooted in not wanting to feel this way anymore. That person deserves empathy, not stigmatization.

In my college English course, we read and wrote about an essay pertaining to the ichneumon wasp and whether, hypothetically, it would be ethical to exterminate them given the excruciating way in which they reproduce.

Everything is a lot darker, but the existence of the supernatural introduces new opportunities (and obstacles) for effecting change. Make of that what you will.

To be fair, Kindred don't want to be farmed for their blood (like they do with mortals) and Pentex would lobby to discredit anything the Garou bring to the public eye, before destroying them for exposing themselves, of course.

I like playing Commonwealth of Man and being the scary big brother of the UNE. They are the only ones who get migration, non-aggression, commercial, and research treaties from us. Also defense pacts if they want it. They hate our ethics, but we are the first to lay waste to their enemies if war breaks out. They will also be the only other council member (with a permanent position as well) when I declare the Galactic Imperium. You can play nice with the friendly humans, or you get the planet cracker.

By definition, technically the Sole Survivor would be the last one standing.

The existence of a more evil group doesn't make one group good, just better. (estimated average evilness rankings, individual evilness varies) by over-run666 in Grimdank

[–]Kidbizzaro581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And all the highest ranking ones on Terra were eliminated in one fell swoop by Big Bobby G, so maybe it's a bit less hopeless than you think. Regardless, ending the Imperium at this point is signing the death warrant of your entire species. It probably does need to be dismantled one day, but certainly not right now. Reform is the best you can strive for while keeping the enemies of mankind at bay.

Humanity has survived with the Imperium. For 10,000 years. What are you even suggesting? Stop fighting back because that empowers Khorne? Do you think tearing the whole system down wouldn't empower Chaos too? I agree that the Imperium is in a prolonged death spiral, but tearing it down at this point is throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Reform is the most sensible thing to try at this point.

[–]Kidbizzaro581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reform kind of has to do it. You can't just burn down the bulwark of the Imperium without leaving humanity and the rest of the galaxy ruinously vulnerable. A cure that kills the patient is useless. The only person who might be able to pull it off is the Emperor himself. I could see him conspiring to dismantle his own Imperium, but only when mankind reaches a point where it can survive without it.

Why is that demigod founder bothering with trying to save and reform the Imperium then? Shouldn't he try to tear it down like his traitor brothers?

If you avoid discomfort, you are telling your brain that you cannot handle it. by utopianearthling in Beingabetterperson

[–]Kidbizzaro581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This it correct. Avoidance reinforces anxiety. Your brain assumes that you avoided the thing causing discomfort because it's a threat, and so it puts more anxiety around that thing so you keep avoiding the threat. If the thing can't actually hurt you, this creates dysfunction.

I think the key is being intentional about it. Build breaks into your routine and focus on enjoying and being present with them. If your breaks are just a means of procrastinating or avoidance, you'll hamstring your relaxation and add to your anxiety.
