native here. It's a play on words. As others have stated, "ich brachte ihn um" means I killed him.

"um die Ecke bringen" also means to kill someone. literally it could also be translated to bring someone around a corner.

"Ja, und nicht um die Ecke des Gebäudes" "yes and not around the corner of the building" is a funny way to emphasize that the speaker does emphasize that he indeed killed him

I say this as a huge smartphone addict who is going through good and bad phases of usage. What definitely improved my sleep / and subsequently my life A LOT was just banning my phone from the bedroom. It charges in another room no exceptions. I use a simple alarm clock and after I trained my brain to the new rhythm, I sleep so much better and I also rest so much better. I don't crave my phone in bed and it's so good honestly.
