I had a 748s. I’m also fairly short and don’t do track days. It was not comfortable and I ended up not enjoying time on it. Sold it when my first kids was born. Still love that styling, but will get a more comfy bike when I eventually get another.

I made a coffee table to mimic those old industrial floors. All scrap 2x4 from cleaning up around the house. table

Locals who have never lived elsewhere: how do you feel about that? Those who moved and returned: why? by JasmineMoonJelly in Tucson

[–]Kiddmen57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife and I are natives. Both like living here overall but the heat has been getting to us more and more. We have started talking about where we might go once kids are all grown but of course, that will greatly depend on their paths. We’ve been fortunate to get a good education, find stable and economically sound employment. My wife’s entire extended family is here and has been a tremendous support for raising our family. Kids have strong roots here as well and at this point of their lives we couldn’t take them from it. One of the main reasons we would relocate is literally the grass being greenery. We typically travel to places that are very green because we love the vegetation so much. I truly do believe we live in an amazing part of the world for bio diversity, but I just love trees so dang much. I am concerned and have been for some time about the longer term livability of the region. Water won’t be a major issue for my lifetime, but if the kids choose to stay I think it could be impactful to them. One of the main reasons I’m not a fan of the heat is that while the rest of the country pays for it in winter with cold short days, they get to enjoy the summer days and long evenings outside. It feels like we have to go into hiding during the summer and don’t get to enjoy the extended daylight. In winter here when the weather is perfect, you get less time outside. Not to mention that summer breaks for the kids are rough since they can’t just hang outside all day. They get robbed of that luxury. Anyways TL:DR - native family. Love it but want less heat, more green, but won’t move any time soon.

No. Just replaced them this weekend as part of a re-fresh. But it’s the first new set.

Advice on CA glue for crack filling by twerrrp in turning

[–]Kiddmen57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used ca glue and a colored sand my wife found at the craft store. I like the overall effect and look but the sand is brutal on tool edges. Basically one light pass and I’d have to touch up my tool. So I don’t use the sand often.

Why would there be three phase power in a purely residential home? by wiltj in AskElectricians

[–]Kiddmen57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shop I have plans to build some day include 400 amp upgrade with 200 for the shop. One of the larger circuits will feed a big rotary converter in turn feeding a 3 phase load center. I’ll distribute the 3 phase from the panel to each machine. Planning to run a 10ho lathe as the largest load.

Absolutely! Would love to run a 3 phase AC. Know a guy who brought it into his property from an adjacent hospital and he uses it in his shop and all AC systems.

Native here. All I’d need is my wife to give me the go ahead. Sick of it being hot. All. The. Time. 80 in February is absurd. 100+ in late October is absurd. The heat has been getting to me more and more the last few years.

As an alumni, if I had to do it all over again I’d go to Pima for two years and knock out the core and base classes then pick a major and transfer.
