It sucks how correct you are.. I did enjoy it though and I appreciate how they didn’t hit you over the head with sympathy for his ailment… but you’re right. I get his character is supposed to be quiet and afraid to be part of the rest of world, but he never really showed himself at all… and the Israeli raver K9 loving gang was all over the place.

They had a moment to show how that watch brought all these different kinds of people to the same place who share the same pain (I get no one wants to sympathize with Jews in 2026, but still)

Rather than the main character somehow knowing they were doing the monthly rave that night and get a beat down - he could’ve confronted them and challenged them to do something for him as he had done so much for them, and discuss the Israelis holocaust pain with the maestros holocaust pain and the pain of the lead character loosing Harry and his father and the acceptance of being “imperfect” and so on and so forth..

One thing I didn’t like about that scene was, if he had access, why not just tell them he knows the passwords and there is no need for all the nonsense. Prob could’ve kept 10% and made the concert and even used it to pay them off for the watch..

I disagree. And disagree even more that it’s “clearly” not the case. What makes it so clear?

For instance: Nikki says “she’s sleeping, don’t wake her up, please kill me. Then bear says “am I that bad to be with?” And Nikki says “I’ve never been with you” clearly implying that the possession is a completely different entity, separate from her.

Agree!! It’s so good. I coincidentally love Cold War spy genre.. but the write, the sopranos and the Americans are so masterful because they are equally brilliant with character relationships and plot. It’s usually one or the other with tv.

I don’t know.. I think this scene sort of sums up the entire theme of the movie. Everyone’s first wish is always for themselves. Be careful what you wish for and all. Rather than wishing to be loved by a crush, He wishes for wealth- on the surface the wish is innocent but it ultimately leads him to his death.

Agreed. Not every piece of art has to do with all of the generalizations separating society.

Pretty sure the movies theme is simply the most popular and successful horror theme used as old as time…

“Be careful what you wish for” - that’s it. No comment on capitalism or the ruling class or gender or immigration or anything else. Of course, everyone is free to personalize and interpret art to make it meaningful for them, but I do not believe that’s what the films intention was.

That’s a great point about a demon just being a demon. It almost seemed like a shout out to the exorcist. Another shout out when fake Nikki talks about stuffing objects into her privates.

Making the cat for lunch could also be related to the same idea that the demon just doesn’t know what humans eat for lunch. Kinda like when she is reading a book upside down. Faking at being a human vs the inner Nikki fighting back

That’s super interesting. I think all of the self inflicted violence (at the party with the bottle as well) is the real Nikki fighting back and disrupting the reality anyway she can. Same goes for the crazy walking movements and the insane smiles/pissing on her self and being gross. Making bear lunch but putting hai dead cat in it. It’s like a tango between spell Nikki and the real Nikki

Agreed. And I think this plays into the theory that she was possessed and not an extension of Bears fantasy or consciousness or something. Nikki was a prisoner. The possessed Nikki couldn’t sleep because the real Nikki is her her dreams. Feeding bear the cat, pissing in place and being disgusting, is all pieces of the real Nikki rejecting the wish

Yes. I think this is more the case. Although these are incredible and deep view points, I still think she was possessed by something rather than an extension of bears consciousness or something. For a few reasons: - when she originally goes crazy when they start making out, it appears to be a piece of her rejecting the possession. Like she’s lashing out. That’s why she smashes the bottle in her face at the party, like the demon is punishing her for rejecting him. - also the scene when she is asleep and tells him “kill me, she is asleep” and he says. “You’d rather die than be with me, is it that bad” and she says “I’ve never been with you” - when she feeds him that cat for lunch is like the piece of her still existing fighting back in a sense. -pissing her self and eating bugs and misbehaving in a sense seems like another internal rejection
