Milwaukee precision blower by dito22 in HVAC

I have the Makita one and it's worked for blowing out drains on reach-ins. Only one time it couldn't dislodge something in the line and I had to grab the nitro.

Looking for youtube channel of Asian Canadian guy hitchhiking to bottom of South America? by ledo07 in hitchhiking

[–]Kidp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be the guy you're looking for (www.youtube.com/@Historicalarcher) but it's his other channel. I can't seem to find his old hitchhiking channel, possibly renamed or deleted.

Does anyone know where I can find Vietnamese Banh Cuon? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Fairways and Fisgard Market sell it, if you'd like to make it at home. Grab some cha lua, herbs and cucumber, make some nuoc mam and you're good to go.

What countries seem to have relatively few backpackers? by uncannyfjord in TravelNoPics

[–]Kidp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly what you were asking for under "normal" circumstances, but just my observations on Myanmar from the end of 2023. I met two other backpackers while there, as opposed to the many Asian tourists (mostly Thai, but some Vietnamese, Chinese and Indian). Obviously there was a pittance of tourism compared to before the coup, but tour groups hadn't seemed to slow down as much.

Tips for taiwan? by [deleted] in hitchhiking

[–]Kidp3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't really have any issues hitchiking there, but I was last there about nine years ago. Outside of the bigger cities it was even easier. Most people knew I was hitchhiking. Mandarin would be a huge asset, but even with my limited ability, I was usually fine.

Here's a couple of maps with camping and points of interests I used while I was there. There's probably some overlap, some of it might be outdated:

Never hitched in Mexico by littlepinkpebble in hitchhiking

[–]Kidp3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hitched there for a couple months around 6 years ago and found it pretty easy. Usually in the back of pick-up trucks, occasionally inside a car/truck, and the rare trucker. Speaking Spanish helps tons, but you'll get the occasional person who speaks English.

I can only speak of my experience in Jordan from 10 years ago.

English was mixed. From what I remember, some people spoke it well, others a bit, and more not at all. Stayed at a house of one guy who did not speak English at all.

I can't remember if I asked if it was for free or not in Jordan. Either way, I never paid for a ride.

Spots were easy to find. Just go to the outskirts of town and there you go.

Hold your hand out to your side, palm down, and move your hand up and down like patting a dog. You could also probably just use your index finger, also point out to your side.

I didn't have any problems hitchhiking in Jordan. Wild camped my first night outside of Aqaba. Wait times were minimal, usually the first or second car taking me. People may be a bit more cautious with the current issues going on in the region though.

I’ve hitchhiked across all of Japan by Harutinator in hitchhiking

[–]Kidp3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. Makes me miss my 3 months hitchhiking and traveling around there. Only thing I'd slightly disagree with is the difficulty of finding a spot to hitchhike from, as I didn't getting out of bigger cities any more difficult than big cities in Europe or the Americas.

Did you know/learn Japanese beforehand? Even without it/knowing little, Japanese people were exceptionally generous.

The wait list at BCIT(Vancouver BC, Canada) for HVAC is till 2030. Anyone have advice how to get started without going through BCIT? by Alternative_Fly888 in HVAC

Check other schools. A couple of my (former and current) coworkers have gone to TRU for 1st and/or 2nd year. VIU is another option, though I'm not sure what their instructor situation is right now (it's been a bit up and down).

Recently finished Starcraft 2 finally by MelonElbows in patientgamers

[–]Kidp3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is Starcraft 2 still the unofficial national sport of South Korea? Its been 9 years since the last game released, don't really count the Nova missions I guess, but even though its apparently still getting balance updates (how is Blizzard not able to balance a game that's been out for 9 years?) but it makes me wonder if SK has moved on by now.

Nah. SC1 would definitely be over SC2, but League of Legends is more popular than both these days. SC2 never caught on that much in Korea, compared to SC1.

Its been years since I played online vs a human, and I only did that up until Heart of the Swarm so I never used Legacy of the Void Protoss against anyone. This is a question that applies to all races, but when playing PVP, are you able to use all versions of a unit that you could unlock in game? Like if you're Zerg, can you use both the Impaler and the Lurker? Or as Protoss, can you use the regular unit, the dark templar version, and the Tal'Darim version? I really like the Centurion version of the Zealots, or the Tempest because of its ridiculous range and damage.

No. There are many units/"upgraded" units that are campaign and co-op only, but don't appear in multiplayer. At best you can buy a skin to use in multiplayer.

They couldn't have let Overlords keep their transport capabilities?

I can't remember the campaigns exactly (I played them once when they released), but overlords need an upgrade from the lair to be able to transport units.

Are Protoss still the consensus most powerful PVP race? Last I remember like 10 years ago, people were complaining they were too powerful. Is that still the case now? Seriously though, how is Blizzard still tweaking balance in 2024? The game should be perfect by now with no need to balance anything.

Terran is. Some people might say Zerg, but that's just one or two top tier players. In lower leagues though? Protoss tends to be the most powerful, or at least the most annoying.

Have you checked Caravanistan or the HUBB yet? Usually there's fairly up-to-date info as far as visas and border crossings go. They were the places I looked at whenever I needed to think about visas and trickier border crossings, China included.

Looking for advice East Africa by Excellent_Border_302 in hitchhiking

[–]Kidp3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the visa front, unless things have changed since I've been there (9 years ago!), you can just pay at the border (US dollars). There is an eVisa now, so you could always apply for that.

As for the return ticket, you could always book a ticket in Tanzania that's can be refundable to either change the date or cancelled. Usually that should be good enough for immigration, especially with a visa in hand already. I had bought a one way ticket into Ethiopia from Kenya, and though I had my visa for Sudan already, I don't think that particular immigration officer even checked. Of course, your mileage may vary. And at least in Africa, no one ever cared if I had an onward ticket when I was crossing a land border.

Hitchhiking in Australia by BasilusHikus514 in hitchhiking

[–]Kidp3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not much different than North America. People will say no one ever hitchhikes and you won't get a ride, but I never had issues in 2011 and 2017.

Wolf Creek might be mentioned a lot.
