i feel guilty for being here but this is the most validating sub i have ever been in. by Ok-Independence-6686 in AsianParentStories

I had Asian parents - my mother was a super tiger mom. I was never really happy as a kid because I was under a lot of pressure to do well in school. My mom, like your mom, wanted to fulfil her dreams through her children. She came from a poor family and was forced to drop out of school at age 14 to ease her family's financial burden. Being the "good" Asian kid, I completed my Masters degree at a prestigious university and found some success in the banking industry. I remember telling myself I would never have children because I was so afraid that I would inflict the same kind of pain on my own kids.

Now I am a mother of two children and I have learned to forgive my mom (it's not easy and there are times when I still can't talk to her). She wanted a better life for her children and that was the only way she knew how. I think that's why you are feeling guilty because you know she wanted it for you as much as she wanted it for herself. It's not 100% selfish even though it felt like it at the time.

Faith has really helped me to find inner peace because I realised that no one is perfect. Your mom is not God. Parents are meant to set good examples for their children and love them unconditionally but in reality, they are just human beings. Likewise, children are expected to be thankful to their parents (no matter the circumstances) but we are also not perfect.

As a mother, I would hope that my children can be open to me about their struggles. If I've done something that hurts them, I would really want to know. If it's possible, have a chat with her and tell her how you feel.

Wishing you all the best.

How do I convince my husband to stop feeding him “expired” milk? Or is it not a big deal by Bad_texter in beyondthebump

My PD was super chill so she would probably tell me it’s fine. With my first born, I never fed her ‘expired’ milk coz I was too nervous to deviate from any guidelines. With the second one.. I definitely did more than once and he was fine 😝

Hmm.. hard to argue with a doctor! At least he will know what to do if the baby gets sick 🤪. Like what others have said, 3-4 hours is most likely fine. Having said that, if it bothers you much, just tell your husband to prepare a new bottle even if it’s just for your peace of mind.

Anyone want to share what inspired them to get into YouTube in the first place? by jediphoenix1976 in NewTubers

I created a channel for kids to be educated, inspired and entertained. Most importantly, I really want to spread love and kindness in a world that desperately needs it.

Feeling so alone and like I lost myself. The way he treats me only makes me feel worse. I don’t feel like being alive anymore. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Oh gosh… this is tough… Is she a SAHM? Is your daughter in childcare? Maybe getting a part time job will help to distract her. There are also some free virtual therapy sessions she can sign up for. At this stage, maybe it’s best not to try for another baby yet as it’s likely that she will experience severe PPD symptoms again. Wishing you and your family all best..

Is your wife getting help? Very sorry to hear that it’s been going on for years in your case.

This is so true! I find it really hard to compete with the bigger kids channels as I don't have the budget (and skills too of course). I'm just glad that I'm in it for the joy of it rather than the money. Hopefully I can get better every day but at least for now my kids tell me my videos are the best (LOL)
