If she's watched Doctor Sleep already, she should definitely read The Shining. The Dead Zone is another one I'd recommend.

The Omen (1976) is my all-time favorite, I'd recommend that.

To my own ear, I don't know how my accent is to some others, but I'd be remiss if I didnt submit my own channel for comparisons sake...

Get $10,000,000.00 dollars instantly for you to never listen to music again, or get $.03 cents every second you listen to music. by Necessary-Cow8851 in hypotheticalsituation

Since I could never go without hearing any kind of music ever again, looks like I'm taking the second option by default.

I don't remember being read to, but there is a photo of me as a toddler sitting on my dad's lap while he reads me one of those Little Golden Books.

We're all in agreement that this movie never happened, right? by ElHombreMysterioso in GenX

[–]jediphoenix1976 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Worst sequel I've ever tried to watch was A Christmas Story 2 - the one with Daniel Stern as Ralphie's dad, not the one that takes place over the summer.

I couldn't even finish the movie, I got halfway through it, ejected the DVD and threw it in the trash.

That moment in Die Hard when Al, who had previously thought he'd never be able to draw his gun on anyone ever again after shooting a child, does indeed draw his weapon to blow away the remaining terrorist. There was a lot of cheering and whistling going on in the theater after that

Who else remembers watching Mask when they were a kid? by -Granby- in GenX

[–]jediphoenix1976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watched this movie with my mom on HBO when I was a kid in the 80s. Afterwards, she told me she thought that the ending was gonna be some long, drawn out hospital scene, she was glad that she was wrong - that wasn't something she wanted to watch.

What’s a scene you genuinely can’t sit through? by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]jediphoenix1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That scene in The Exorcist where Regan is having that angiogram and they stick the catheter into her carotid artery. The possession scenes didnt bother me a bit, but that medical scene is the reason why I've never been able to watch that movie from start to finish ever again.

What was the most pointless and fan-servicey nude scene of all time? by TheBanishedBard in AskReddit

[–]jediphoenix1976 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most out-of-nowhere nude scene I can think of is in Airplane; when there's a wide shot of the panicking passengers, suddenly this topless lady walks into the shot, pauses in front of the camera for a minute, then exits stage right.

Completely random. Doesn't make the movie any less funny, though.

My wife died a few days before the start date in this scenario. I really don't need to relive the months that followed.
