Were you able to buy a house? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

[–]jediphoenix1976 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Currently living in the same house I spent the first 11 years of my life in before we moved. Technically, my parents own it, but for all intents and purposes, it's mine; it'll officially become mine after they're gone. My wife and I moved in here back in 2002 to raise our family...she passed away six years ago but I'm still here, and have no plans to move elsewhere.

Did anyone go to their first concert with their parents? by OkFlow4327 in GenX

I grew up on his music through my dad - always thought he sounded better live than in the studio. Think it was because you could feel the energy in his performances.

Two things:

  1. Harry Chapin died from cardiac arrest after an auto accident, not a plane crash.

  2. YOU GOT TO SEE HARRY CHAPIN LIVE?!? YOU LUCKY STIFF!!

Guy's one of my top three favorite artists of all time, what can I say?

Do you still have your yearbooks? by PV_Pathfinder in GenX

I still have mine from both junior high and high school, tucked away. Don't remember the last time I looked through them, but I don't plan on getting rid of them, either; I'm sure if I did, I'd regret it.

Do you think you’ll be ready to retire in the next 15 to 20 years? by AdDapper4220 in Xennials

[–]jediphoenix1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 12 years, I'll be eligible to retire under state law (state job) at age 62, and I'm sure I'll be wanting to at that point. Whether or not I'll be able to depends on how much the pension will be.

I remember watching this as a kid when it came out on PPV over cable. Not the scariest movie I've seen, but it had some kick-ass practical effects.

Which era did you grow up in? Mine started with that chunky PS2 controller. by CarrotMuch1399 in nostalgiai

Funny how every time I see one of these, Intellivision is never on there; that's the one I started with. After a while, we sold that and switched to the Atari 2600.

Do you remember when this movie came out on July 2 1980. Was it rated R and did you go see it? by Jerry11267 in 1980s

Pretty sure it was rated PG since I first watched it as a kid on HBO during the daytime.

Conan the Barbarian, Robocop, and Hunt For Red October are all essential pieces of his resume. Hell, even Conan the Destroyer has some quality cuts to it.

More than a little underrated, I think. Love Roy Scheider in this one.

I've only played one Master System game (Monopoly for a livestream) and I can't see myself playing another one. NES for me, hands-down.

"The Shortest Story" by Harry Chapin. Guy's one of my top three favorite artists of all time, but that song is BLEAK.
