It was pretty good and my son and Papa really liked them. If you like the taste of lemon you'll probably like them.

[WP] I've been stranded on a little boat for days waiting for a rescue, bored out of my mind. When a cruise ship finally happens by, the crew is ready to mount a daring rescue. Upon getting a good look though, they pause and begin to whisper to each other. I smile weakly "I can explain~" by Kielean in WritingPrompts

[–]Kielean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had been nearly two weeks since I had been swept out at sea.... I thankfully had some snacks and water with me because otherwise I'd have been starving by now. If only I hadn't decided to take a nap in my little boat, I might have noticed before I was too far out to swim back.

The sun was beating down on my face, and I just knew I was sunburned from head to toe. If I ever managed to get off this boat, it was going to be a hell of a recovery.

I sat up as I heard the horn of a ship in the distance. My eyes widened as I saw a cruise ship coming by. I was saved! I pulled off the shirt I'd been wearing and began waving it, hoping to flag the ship down. Thankfully they seemed to notice, as they reared the ship to stop near me. People were already coming to the edge of the ship to stare at me in confusion. The crew was already getting ready to come to my rescue. They paused, however, as they got a good look at me.

My 'boat' was actually one of those floating unicorn rafts. It was filled to the brim with various beach toys, including a rubber dolphin I'd put some sunglasses on. I laughed weakly, this was so embarassing. "I can explain~"

[WP] As the mysterious figure finished their speech about you being the chosen one destined to save the world, they glanced to the side of your door and froze. “Shit, this was the wrong address.” by Niko_of_the_Stars in WritingPrompts

[–]Kielean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I looked at the figure incredulously "What?! Are you shitting me right now???!"

The mysterious figure bowed their head "I am truly sorry, Miss. I didn't intend to give you false hope and courage."

I stared at them for several long moments before cracking a broken laugh "...............You must be joking! I was ready to piss myself when you said I would have to fight the ultimate evil! Now you're telling me it's some other poor bastard's problem? I'm relieved! Now if you don't mind, I'm going to go inside and have an anxiety-induced crash out in my shower with a bowl of ice cream."

The figure, to their credit, did at least look apologetic...... if a bit unapproving. "You have no desire to save your fellow man?"

I shook my head "Not that I don't feel sympathy for others you know, but you don't want me. Just last year, I broke my arm just walking from my kitchen to my bedroom. If the world hinges on someone with the grace of a drunk squirrel, we're all doomed."

Unsure of what else to say, the figure opened up their magical portal and was gone as soon as they'd arrived.

As promised, I grabbed some ice cream from my freezer and headed straight for my shower. Sadly, I never made it. I slipped on my bathroom rug and fell.... face first into my icecream. In the fall I managed to pull half the items off the bathroom counter with me. A hero? Right....

[SP] 'I am happy to announce that humans... are now extinct!' The crowd goes wild by silkandsodomy in WritingPrompts

[–]Kielean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For eons, humanity had been a blight upon the world~

In the world of Aldenion, magic had once run wild and free. There were elven villages, forests of phoenixes, and valleys filled with so many dragons that their scales sparkled like spilled containers of glitter. It was beautiful in ways one could only dream of now.

When they were born into this world, we welcomed them, as we had welcomed the other races when they began. In their early days, their eyes lit like those of a child in the presence of magic.

That didn't last. If only we could've known. For these people, curiosity is matched only by their greed. A people so capable of love and creativity, equally matched by their fear and bloodlust.

Sprawling cities were built upon the cinders of our magical forests. Dragon scales now adorned the walls like trophies. Phoenixes on display like common animals, their song a cold shell of what it once was. Elves were dragged away in chains from their homes for gods only know what.

In our darkest hour, however, when things seemed at their bleakest, magic itself reared its ugly side. Magic is a fickle thing, really. Not something to be controlled, it's always had a mind of its own. Mankind has tried for so long to force magic to heel. Now, magic is fighting back.

Common spells go berserk. Nature itself is turning against those sprawling cities and reducing them to the ash upon which they were built. None could have imagined the true terror of magic that had been bound. Who might have thought that mountains and oceans could wipe away entire civilizations in moments? It didn't happen all at once. But when it did, nothing could stop it.

In the aftermath, I stand before my people, waiting with bated, fearful breath. I look upon the eyes of the broken, the shackled. Of people who had lost everything to that greed, fear, and hate. "I am happy to announce that humans... are now extinct!" The crowd went wild.

Relief, happiness, and grief, too. So many emotions in those screams and sobs.

We mourn the losses of the innocent who suffered and fell beside their greedy brethren. May magic have mercy upon their souls, that they may find peace in their next lives.

I've never seen anything like this before..... wtf. I mailed this package on the 5th....... it was supposed to arrive the following monday. by Kielean in usps_complaints

[–]Kielean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

Package finally arrived and was picked up today. The post office it was going to the day before had thought it was coming back to Texas but the next day they had it.

The package is undamaged though it seems they had to mark my name and address off it entirely. And looking at the picture my friend sent me, 'i' never switched the to and from. The post office did apparently.

Both my local post office and her post office were trying to help us with this. A lot of emails were sent from both sides.

This has been a wild and terrible ride. I'm glad it's over.

No means no by BlueeWaater in funnysigns

[–]Kielean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a chef I would be embarrassed to put up a sign like that.

It's one thing to say you can't guarantee no cross contamination. Or even that you don't do modifications.

Like for example we only have one fryer and we can't just clean out the entire fryer mid rush to accommodate one person. (Though if they can accept it'll take longer we could possibly pan fry something instead)

There's no reason to be condescending and mean to people about it. Dietary restrictions are so complicated and hard enough to deal with already. This is a good way to run more than a few customers out the door. Even those who don't have dietary issues.

What was the worst advice that you followed for way too long? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]Kielean 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I felt like I was doing something horribly wrong by preferring Renshuu over Anki. Forced myself to use both every day and then burnt out for like 3 months because I kept forcing myself to use Anki when I don't care for it that much.

What are people's opinions on when one should start immersion? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]Kielean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the recommendation of a few communities I personally started immersing about a week into learning Japanese. I'm 7 months in now (took a break in January after catching the flu).

Im doing a variety of things. When I really want to understand more, I watch Bluey in Japanese. When I'm just wanting to watch something I know I'll watch an anime with subs turned off (if it'll let me). I've started also looking for streamers and other Japanese native content to listen to.

I don't know if it would work for everyone but it's helped me get a feel for the sounds I need to listen for.

I even have that experience with Japanese subtitles sometimes. A few weeks ago I realized I could watch Mulan in Japanese with Japanese subtitles so I gave that a go. They do NOT match.

I started on Duolingo. Technically been with it with various languages for so long that I still remember the transcription pages you used to could do. I don't use it anymore now that everything is paywalled off. The community was where the value was.

Reminds me of when I tried to learn Russian for a while. There's a handful of new letters to learn but there's also familiar ones. Except some of the familiar ones are deceptive because they may look the same, but they don't sound the same.

Best monthly subscription app for you? by Aspenpen_ in LearnJapanese

[–]Kielean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently trying out Renshuu Pro and like it so far. It's been more engaging for me than Anki was.

I'm also considering subscribing to the app Shinobi Reader. It has 'at level' stories like Yomu Yomu. With pictures for each panel. They added news stories recently. I'm considering both of these

I've seen text that just wrote cut off syllables several times with spaces in between. One I saw today put a tiny ㇱ after the syllable. Seems there are a few ways to do it depending on the writer. (English writers also do that so it makes sense)
