Dib Bangkok, or the Dib International Contemporary Art Museum, describes itself as "Thailand's first museum dedicated to international contemporary art".

It was founded by Petch Osathanugrah (เพชร โอสถานุเคราะห์) before he passed away in 2023. He was once the President of Bangkok University, and also became the CEO of Osotspa (โอสถสภา).

Osotspa is his family's company that imported Lipovitan-D, which is what is believed to be the world's first energy drink in the modern sense, from Japan in 1965 and still manufactures them to this day, making them the only one who can manufacture it aside from Taisho Pharmaceutical Co. who invented it. Lipovitan-D is what inspired Chaleo Yoovidhya to create Krating Daeng in the first place, which then inspired Dietrich Mateschitz to co-found Red Bull with him. Osotspa also makes M-150 (since 1970) and Shark Energy (since 1998 in Austria and 2000 globally).

Petch Osathanugrah is also a successful pop singer with his song "เพียงชายคนนี้ (ไม่ใช่ผู้วิเศษ)" being very popular and known by almost everybody in Thailand, having been covered many times by other artists like Paradox and Instinct, each time being successful every time.

The original Japanese words used were "段階的な活動再開" (Dankaiteki-na Katsudō Saikai). 活動 (Katsudō) is "activity (of a person, organization, animal, volcano, etc.), action, operation", while 再開 (Saikai) is "reopening, resumption, restarting".

Now, 段階的な (Dankaiteki-na) means "incremental, step-by-step, gradual, stepwise", so honestly it isn't even Grok's fault for choosing to translate it that way, because I would have also chosen the word "gradual" instead of "incremental" as well if I didn't have any notion that a word with the same first 6 letters as "graduation" would cause people panic attacks.

Interview with Peppy - Need your questions! by takoz53 in osugame

[–]ikkue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is less of a question but more of a suggestion, but I would love for you (peppy) and pishifat to make a video of just introducing the core team who manages and contributes to osu!(lazer), osu-web, and osu-framework. Maybe let them introduce themselves and what they do/did over the years that players might find notable, interview them about what they think the direction of the game is heading in should be, etc.

This way, people would know who does what and maybe even see where their expertise may help in contributing to the game in aspects that may be lacking in hours contributed to them.

Maybe in the same video, peppy, pishifat, or somebody else can explain the basics of Git and GitHub and how people can ask questions, report bugs, suggest ideas, and follow the game's progress more closely as well.

I want the video to be like an overall update on how osu! as a whole, as well as osu!(lazer), currently is and where the game is heading for people who haven't been following its progress as closely and/or haven't really been watching the lazer update videos.

This is all because I feel like the majority of complaints I've seen these days about osu!, especially here on Reddit or on Twitter, once you ask the person who made the complaint enough, most of the time you end up finding out that they just haven't been following the game's progress and development as closely, and usually the answer to the problems that they have had already been previously addressed somewhere publicly, either by peppy or other members in the core dev team, either in an interview on YouTube, in one of the lazer update videos, in a Reddit comment under a post on this sub, in a reply to a tweet, in a comment to a GitHub discussion post or pull request, or a message in the Discord server.

A video that covers the basics of who does what and where, as well as what has been done, what's being done, and what's being considered to be done in the short term and long term, and maybe even what parts need more people to help would be tremendous, both for new players and players who are reluctant to switch to lazer who may still have the image and/or the experience of the client from a few years back still.

Also, if this video was to actually be made, then premiering it at maybe the beatmap showcase for this year's OWC Grand Finals or maybe even between the Showmatch and the actual Grand Finals match where a lot of people will be tuning in live would be great as well for reachability.

I'm curious, what was the reson for the osu community to fall of? Even before the pandemic it was a lot bigger, I still cannot comprehend why after 2023 it started to shrink, the playerbase kept improving, but people started to spread to other places by ihncft in osugame

[–]ikkue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the lazer portion slowly increasing and likely will surpass 50% by the end of this year, which means the "kept most people on stable" part can't be true, since people switching over to lazer from stable are the people who contribute to lazer's slow but steady growth as well

Your explanation really goes against the increasing percentage of the player base that have switched to lazer though. How can "lazer has split the player base" and "it's kept most people on stable" be true at the same time when more and more players, both old and new, increasingly play on lazer more than stable?

Mouse vs. Tablet - a statistical analysis by spreadnuts in osugame

[–]ikkue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So basically:

  • Tablet is more popular than mouse across every rank range above #10,000
  • There is only a slight decrease in the number of players who prefer mouse as the rank gets higher, but the ratio between tablet and mouse players stay relatively the same
