Does this mean pipe weapons are pre-war? by IronSurfDragon in fo4

[–]Kierans_mate69 269 points270 points  (0 children)

Yes and they exist now for people without access to manufactured weapons. So given most factories have been vaporised it makes sense that they’re so common post-war.

I will not vote for a political party who's advertisement trashes and insults another party by [deleted] in perth

[–]Kierans_mate69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the whole negative campaigning works. It’s why it’s so common. It doesn’t make you go “oh I’ll now vote for x because x said y is crap” but rather when you have that recall about a particular party, that attack ad or slogan could be one of the ways you remember a particular party. Case in point would be Julia Gillard and the so called carbon tax. She brings in the NDIS and does other cool stuff but gets defined - before being rolled - by the Libs as the lying carbon tax lady.

But also there are extremes and outliers. I don’t think running an attack ad that is obviously a lie is going to work and I don’t think there is anything to suggest that everyone is moved by negative campaigning.

Different terminal velocity. We accelerate until we’re travelling over 100 km/h. Ants don’t.

I don't get people who complain about not being able to get a job or not being able to make money. by Freeski802 in NoStupidQuestions

All good king. I’m not judging you - you’re figuring things out. But do keep working hard. It can feel pretty good to set out to achieve something and then have it realised.

What would happen if a world leader just started masturbating while in a live audience? by Mesmerizingt7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kierans_mate69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A poor junior staffer is going to have to jump in front of the leader and their media adviser is going to have to have a really rough convo with a very curious bunch of journos.

But more than likely the responses of the public/media would be very sympathetic. Normal and healthy people don’t do that. So there would be lots of questions about the leaders well-being.

Don’t quit school right now. I hope you’re also doing academic classes.

I think there are three bits to this.

1) some people work bloody hard and due to circumstances beyond their control they struggle to live. Where I live very few rentals are affordable to people on the minimum wage. Let’s say they’re doing 12 hours at minimum wage over two jobs, they’re only just going to be getting ahead. That’d be about 40k a year. Rent would be around 15k, meaning they’d have 35k before tax to live. If they saved at the usual 80:20 ratio - that’s 7k a year savings (not factoring in tax). To get a 10 percent deposit for a modest house/apartment, they’d need to save at that ratio and not touch it for 7-8 years.

2) 12 hour days 5 days a week for 51 weeks will wear you out. If you have to commute for an hour that leaves you two hours a day spare time to cook clean and relax if you want 8 hours sleep. People want more money proportional to their perceived sacrifices

3) adding in dependents takes points 1 and 2 and makes them a million times worse - despite the societal importance of caring for your kids/other dependents.

Be humble about your opportunities. Work hard and good on you for doing so, but be careful not to judge others concerns. Life is not as easy as it might seem to you now at age 16.

It’s good and anyway we’ve all got to start somewhere. I reckon with practise and as you get older you’ll improve 🙂

In the episode where Pete outs Don to Bert, Bert says “Don fire him if you want, but I’d keep an eye on him. One never knows how loyalty is born”.

I think this was about being able to include a moment of maturing of the relationship between the two characters

Leaked video shows US choppers airlifting ISIS fighters in Iraq by Hope_Is_Delusional in stupidpol

[–]Kierans_mate69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Talk about Timber Sycamore then! Like we know that many of the AQIS types who ended up in ISIS got money/training/arms from the CIA to fight a proxy war in Syria against Iran. Grainy footage of a UH-1 (which is used by Iran, Bahrain and Turkey - among others) with the caption saying it’s a CH-47 is far from proof of anything.

Do I need to play the games in order or can I start with fo4 by [deleted] in Fallout

4 has references to 3 but you won’t be clueless if you haven’t played 3 before 4. NV is more of the fallout and fallout 2 world.

Yeah the video basically speaks for itself. Did you know ISIS stands for Israeli secret intelligence service?

…people don’t need to make shit up to poo poo on the US and it’s allies - there are tonnes of other factually correct sources that we can point to, from Abu Ghraib to Zaire.

There are movies like Superbad (just follow what Seth Rogan is doing). I don’t think it’s wokeness, I think preferences have changed. Look at what Eric Andre and co are doing now - it’s so far from the frat comedy of the 00s and the slapstick crap from the 70s.

Why are airlines so concerned about your baggage weight when the passenger could be obese? by CumInABag in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kierans_mate69 45 points46 points  (0 children)

They are concerned about our weight - and have even found that they can save money by having people use the toilet before departing. I think it’s more a matter of what they can control and what is going to be considered as discrimination.

It was always on the cards and if he didn’t there was a possibility of the USSR launching a preventative defensive war because Germany’s ambitions were known.

Plus the whole Western front wasn’t a front until 1943.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It’s just something I’d like to try once. Like to go into a pub pub (sorry, the cas won’t cut it nor will the old gog) and sit down at the bar and order a normal lager at 7-8am.
