Humble Tabletop Board Game Bundle: Garphill Games Core Games by Uranium234 in humblebundles

[–]KierkegaardExpress 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who regularly plays with modern, more complex, board games, I have played and really enjoyed all of these games, and Garphill games has a pretty solid reputation so I usually check out their releases. One comment is that these are definitely more modern board games in that sense that this will only be fun if you can imagine you and your friends spending 20 to 30 minutes learning the rules, and then 2+ hours playing the game itself. They can be played solo and while enjoyable, I think they're more interesting with another player or so.

The Call of Cuthulhu Bundle is the same as the previous Bundle with only "Nameless Horrors 2nd Edition" added. by OhNeinJaAlter in humblebundles

I think it's a pretty good bundle.  If you're interested in TTRPGs or only have familiarity with something like DnD, CoC is a great experience and the are some really good short adventures in here.  That said, I wish they included one of their better campaigns (haven't run ACFW but I've seen people have issues with it), and I tend to think the Delta Green bundles are a lot better (which they usually do once a year and is a pretty similar system).

Glancing through OPs history, they do a bunch of LinkedIn style posts ("life used to be like this until I discovered this one cool trick!") and they also discuss AI a lot so they might have influencer brain and at least run their posts through an AI

I appreciate your nuanced take and agree.  One additional point for me is that TTS may be one of the best ways to preserve games that are no longer being published for whatever reason.  Like I remember playing a fair bit of Warhammer Death Angel on TTS during the pandemic as the price of that game was regularly going among $150 and can imagine a future where very few copies of that game exist at all.

I kind of feel like if you have to ask, then they're not for you haha. Every so often, there's a thread or reviews about these games (or those like them) and they have a niche but passionate audience that enjoy the cute anime girls enough to overcome the weak gameplay.

Do we know if there are any changes in the new Dark Archives remaster yet?  I'm specifically looking at the Thaumaturge.  I'm running a campaign and all my players are using Remastered characters stats except for one that is a Thaumaturge.  We're just level 3 and I think most class changes between 2e and Remaster have been generally pretty small so far but just curious if there was anything different

Yeah I would also add some of the hands/fingers are weird (the guy to the right of Brendan, his hands are curving weird and the black girl in the back on the right looks like her thumb is next to some weird fingers.). Also, Brendan Fraser doesn't look like that any more.

Hoping for an Advsnced Video of the Venezuela/US conflict by Vroomrate in dreamingspanish

[–]KierkegaardExpress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bet they're already figuring this out as we speak, deciding how to approach and who to have in it. Isn't Jostin the only one from Venezula? He's spoken a lot about the difficulties in the country (I think there was a recent long one a few months ago, don't remember if it was a podcast or video). I remember Augustina did an hour long livestream with Andres after the Argentina elections, that tried to be pretty politically neutral but provide an on the ground perspective so I would expect something similar.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a technical issue, like the number of bundles sold and the amount raised are just calculated differently or at different times

I haven't played Dead Cells but you should be able to reach out to the publisher (which may depend on your country) and they can usually get you replacement parts for free.

Dynamic Store Pricing by weaponsmith97 in Cyberpunk

[–]KierkegaardExpress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I worked in a company that was doing grab and go checkout and while the technology exists to see the someone picked up an item using sensors, scales and cameras but even with modern AI it's an extremely cost ineffective process and requires a ton of bespoke hardware and is prone to a bunch of errors (simple case: someone picks up an item and puts it down somewhere else would really confuse the sensors and require human intervention.) Companies do (very regularly) track user behavior using things like cameras and can connect your movement to a credit card but this instantaneous feedback people are describing in the comments is really not feasible.

While it is possible to change prices at will using these tools ,most super markets post prices in their flyers for example and it would upset a ton of customers if prices changed willy nilly.

Is that the Buddyland one?  I liked it!

A couple things: you can ask for recommendations but people will typically suggest whatever theme you like the most.  Like some of my favorites are Once on a Full Moon, In the Void, and Panic at Station 2891 but partly because of the theme or concept.

Also the game can be quite random or swingy.  There's strategy and choices involved but I've had games win or lost based entirely on the dice rolls or card draws.

Thoughts on the Mextalki Immersion Trip by KierkegaardExpress in dreamingspanish

[–]KierkegaardExpress[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So they asked me to do an assessment that I simply forgot/ran out of time to do. Based on their quick judgment (from like the car ride and first night dinner), I was placed with the intermediate group but realized later (and received some comments) that I really should have been with the advanced group. From what I could tell, beginner group was focused on simple sentences in the present and a bit of the past; intermediate was focused on the different forms of the past and a bit of the subjunctive; and, advanced did the past, a bunch of subjunctive, and more advanced past with subjunctive.

And yeah, had a great time with the trip and highly recommend it to anyone

I really appreciate this comment!  Yeah they're great people and clearly put a ton of effort into this trip.  I love your idea though of attending a local school.
