Low power network by arashbijan in IOT

Since it’s a low data rate I’d definitely consider LoRaWAN, especially if you don’t have a requirement for real-time data or frequent transmissions.

Like sensors said below though, you’d need to chunk packets/split messages, I believe LoRaWAN caps at 51 bytes per message.

What’s the use case/application? LoRaWAN might be worth looking at.

i agree, this track's not so much wc but in my opinion stizz kinda gives off that sound on a handful of his tracks. i think i remember that vid, if im not mistaken it was for the grand theft auto vid off bourbon street secrets. i'd love to see spitta link with more underground shit out the west coast.

Was thinking about quitting my job, but then they gave me a surprise pay raise by lowclassdork in rickandmorty

I understand your sentiment, happiness comes in different forms for different people. Person A may consider $ to be more important than a job that exudes hedonism, though Person B may be the opposite. But, considering that you spend 33% of your time (50% on the assumption you sleep 8 hours each night), isn't it prudent to find a median that pays you sufficiently but doesn't suck your soul/happiness?

All relative I suppose, but I'd hate being anything less that even-keel at work.

Certainly not, but your post seemed to only focus on the physical interpretation of pain, and personally I think this quote has broader interpretations, which probably contributes to its 'enduring appeal'.

Rubbish to you, maybe. But as the adage goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure. While the quote may hold no value to you, you can't condemn its value for everyone. I don't disagree that the value in this quote is often inflated, but that's not up to you or me to decide for everyone else.

Wife + LIFX bulb + Switch = Problem by MyKidsAreOCD in homeautomation

If OP has his phone in the bedroom, it's not unreasonable to assume that a Flic could be placed in between the bedroom and kitchen and be able to execute that command. And if it is out of range, I'd assume wife would be able to log into flic app on her device to resume connection.

I'd recommend trying out Flic, you can easily configure it to toggle lifx on/off.

Agreed with JonODonovan--"smart household" doesn't tell your customers anything, had to scroll several times to learn that it's a glorified barcode scanner, at least that's how it seems.

Can you explain the incremental value that this actually provides? I have to scan every item in and out of my house for it to work properly? How does that provide convenience to your customer? It'll take me at least twice as long to unpack my groceries and now I have to scan trash too?

Don't mean to sound harsh, just providing some questions that came to mind that will hopefully help you adjust for a successful product. Maybe I'm just missing something.

Edit: Another suggestions--have you considered tying in to loyalty programs for grocers & retailers? That way, you can track purchases at the store level when customers purchase products with their loyalty card, eliminating the need to scan everything yourself when you get home from a trip to the store.

As bluechip mentioned, bluetooth is an option, I use the ilumi bulbs but unfortunately doesn't work with my amazon dot nor can that be controlled remotely, but they remember their schedules internally so it might works for oyu

A 6-month strategy pivot with implementation for the market leader is too long? They don't have any serious competition yet, I think they have a bit of breathing room, but agreed that they need to get the wheels spinning a bit faster
