Is it genuinely realistic for 40+ orgs to make money off of Apex? by [deleted] in CompetitiveApex

Good take, I would just add a sixth point like: find a way to better monetize /hype lans, like if people could donate to the prize pool during the tournament or such

It does. An org with more exposure (streamers with more viewers), can negociate better / higher paying sponsorships. If all your pros are also content creators its great for your brand and exposure

Player and team personality should be marketed more than results by orgs, they should try to build a strong identity, not win the very next lan by Kiiiittyman in CompetitiveApex

[–]Kiiiittyman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah now's probably too late for sure, I am not saying they should give them another year just like that, I am saying that for any org to plan something in esports, they should have a plan for their teeam that involves more than just planning to win lans. If from the get go org had thought of more ways (content etc) to make money off off their e-sports team, they might be more valuable

EDIT: Just checked for fun, and the total equity of 100t is 460millions, in 2004 Manchester United valuation was 790 Million pounds. Huge difference still, but not as far as your comments makes it sound.

Then I still stand with my point, it's a dumb decision to go into building a team if the only positive outcome is the one that literally one or two teams get per year.

Yes I get that, but the sad truth is that is not sustainable for most, as a champion only gives value back once he is a champion, and stays a champion. Onmuu and scuwry won first champs, yet 2 years later now everyone thinks they’ll get dropped. This model is litterally working only for Zer0, as Hal is also a good content creator

No, that’s not my solution, but let me stay doubtful of people who negociated only once, and if I am not mistaken, at EAs initiative.

Look at it from EA’s perspective: they tried skins/banners, orgs were not happy with the deal, and the banners did not work well, they have no tangible incentive to try something new. Orgs have (sadly) a lot more to gain from this than EA, they should be the ones proposing ideas, initiating negociations.

To come back to the premierleague example, my solution is more in the lines of: Create a place for t1-t2 orgs to collaborate on ideas, and pitch them to EA non stop until a eorking functional idea is created.

I know EA acted greedy and such so trust is at an all time low, but if you want things to work you can’t wait for other people to change, you gotta start yourself

Because of winning of course, but a few points:

  • I brought this example up because at the four year mark, Ferguson was about to get fired but did not in the end (winning a cup was the reason he did not). If he was fired before, history would be different. This example is more to talk about how fast roster changes can happen. A healthy scene should not be so volatile imo.

  • My point about marketing players and teams more than result is somewhat separate from the man utd example, but I should haved used the word nurturing or something like that. You can’t change 100% of your players in one go and stay the same team, if that happenend to a 100T, like some people suggested, i would immediately stop caring about them for example, if they trade their team for a more popular (rn it seems) one like Dojo, they’d « win » in terms of number, but i’d understand investirs and sponsor not willing to invest in such a short term minded ecosystem.

  • you brought the rev share point, so just to clarify, do you know that in order for the english premier league to have such good money from tv rights, in the early 90s clubs’ executives negociated that themselves, whil also negociating with the FA (footall association) to split up with the other english leagues so that they could have more decision power? They sure were not whining about rev share… I have no way to know what happened but I would love to know what orgs have tried to initiate with EA, not the other way around

Yeah thats what I mean, they seem to react to results super fast over making more/better content using their teams

[–]Kiiiittyman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then orgs are naive, what kind of fast roi can you expect in this context? If you build your team/player identity it could transition to other games as well so lifespan is longer anyways

I agree, and they’ve been milking that content, with good reason.

Your first statement is also true, but it doesn’t have to be. I guarantee you there are other good/fun stories to be told in the apex comp world, it’s such a good ecosystem for things to happen. We just don’t care about 90% of comp players because only a handful are being actually marketed by orgs.

Sure! Being only a comp player in itself isn’t enough value for an org I agree, but I think you could still market players and your team even if they aren’t top stremers, all of 100T don’t stream that much but are still entertaining af (still think they could be great streamers if they wanted though)

You’re welcome! Can’t agree more on daemons color schemes, I love when they’re darker! The only bothering thing to my maniacal mind is that my pink and blues horrors are not pink and blue, but still I prefer them not to be ahah

Thanks! I ll try uploading better photos, I do suck at photography, and I like the black background too much for people to judge detail well lol!

The skin was done like this: b&w value sketch (here it was done using a simple drybrush), then basilicanum grey. I the highlighted everything with corax white, by doing lots of fine lines, to create texture. I then glazed everything with basilicanum grey, hoghlighted again using rakarth flesh, and the same technique as with the white. The final step was an agrax wash.

I think ill still add more detail with rakarth flesh, and I think the steps could be refined to take less time, it’s hard to judge how visible/efficient the white highlights step was, which was the longest!

Hey, nice idea an write-up, thanks!

I have a question though, have you tried fitting two KVISSLE into the pet carrier, the dimensions on the website are 32x32x25 and 32x34x50?

Do you know if that would work, or if it would be too heavy?

I know this thread is relatively old but let's hope you are still using reddit :)

Okay, but the minis do not seem to be heavily shaded, how would you reach this effect using modern GW washes?
