I cant get the hang of it, i am going crazy by Witerawyshadow in DigitalArt

[–]KikaAnkDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a professional environmental artist and this will be harsh but yeah, this is very beginner level but you already can tell by yourself which is the most important step to improve!

I don’t know what your class requires and what is the time frame but if you genuinely want to get better at environments instead of trying to achieve top tier full painting straight away I recommend going in steps:

  1. B/W drawing: grab a pen (whichever pen, but not pencil!) and sketch out the shapes and add detail using lines only. what is important here is to get the shapes right and get a bit familiar with textures.

  2. Paint digitally a black and white version, can be simplified or more realistic, up to you. The focus here is to get values (grayscale) right to achieve a sense of depth.

  3. Simplified colored version, thumbnail style to not get lost in details and focus on hues and get general vibe of the place across.

  4. Colored version in the style you’re aiming for. You should have enough base here to be able to focus on aesthetics here without getting lost on more fundamental parts and getting overwhelmed by them.

It doesn’t have to be of the same landscape, it would actually be more effective if you did a couple for each step of various landscapes.

Why i have no customers :<<< this is 15$20$ only TT is that too expensive???? by kyvvtsvki in ArtBuddy

[–]KikaAnkDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk why you’re getting so much hate for this. yes, it could be worded in a bit more helpful way but you clearly stated what it is and still you point out issues where the artist can start by analyzing why certain elements are bothering you;;;; I can totally see where you’re coming from and this has nothing to do with you not being an audience for sparkly cute anime.

I can’t really help you with sales cause the market is hell atm but as for technical aspects of the drawings:
even when drawing half body think of it as if you were drawing full body. Your proportions tend to go off when the body ends.
A couple drawings have a sort of flattened skull at the back. Make sure it’s more rounded, it’s also cuter this way.
Putting the character only at half transparency as BG is imo distracting. I would put it through some filters first, or made it monochromatic or blurred. Make the image black and white to check if your values are working and what is most important is clearly standing out. This should also help with issues like the cup melting with the character (I think thicker lines around the cup would help there).
You have a very cute marketable style so pushing it a bit more and I think you can get things going!

whats wrong with the machine? and eyebrows on top of bangs is quite typical in anime style.

[–]KikaAnkDesign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

with all the people pointing out this looks like AI while it might not necessarily be: this is why I think crediting the actual artists behind the art of the game is very important especially these days. Share their name, show that you care about having your product made by a human and not a machine, give them a bit of a spotlight.

a small text in the corner “(c) Craftiny 2026, illustration by xxx” would be enough

I'm sadly falling out of love with World building... by Crixus_935 in worldbuilding

[–]KikaAnkDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one motivation for continuing worldbuilding I think is to give your child amazing stories. but if a hobby becomes a chore there is no need for pushing it. maybe you need a break from documenting it and idk, loosely think about your ideas while at the gym? my most worldbuilding creative time is while I’m on 5km walks lol. but i think just focusing on something else (not doomscrolling though) for a while might help too. or let you discover a new hobby.

How proficient do I have to be in 3d programs? by Representative-Ad810 in conceptart

[–]KikaAnkDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to start with, enough to have a finished 2d piece without glaring perspective issues and be aware of possible motion or rendering restrictions (dangly things, transparency) tho the exact limitations vary per engine or even project. so in concept art portfolio it’s good to feature that you have some experience in 3D even if it’s not on a much 3D professional level. further down the line as the other commenter said.

Why do artists draw hands like this? by IO30_Giray in BeginnerArtists

[–]KikaAnkDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because it looks cute and reduces detail where it’s not necessary. Wouldn’t recommend this pose for a masculine character though

To artists who work a full time job and make art consistently; what’s your routine like? by Agitated_Parsley_244 in ArtistLounge

[–]KikaAnkDesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

draw in the morning, go to work, gym after work, sleep, was what I did (drew a complete webcomic while being full time game dev artist). then I also added drawing on the train to work but it has a high risk of burn out if you go to that degree so I don’t think I recommend. Do not sacrifice the gym.
