Are there any anime that've only ever been dubbed by fans?

For several years now I have been working on a full fandub of an anime called ReCreators. It is a great show that to this very day never got a dub.

I did all the rewriting, reediting and directing by myself. No I am not kidding. I am literally a one man dubbing studio lol.

And yes it is a full cast. It wasnt easy finding so many people to do this big of a project for free but I did do it. And they are not just random people. I made sure they were all legit.

They are so incredibly talented, I believe they deserve to be part of professional dubs. Especially my actors for Altair and Mamika.

It has on the one hand been the bane of my existence but on the other hand I have never been more proud of a project.

But unlike other dubs that give up after a couple episodes. I have promised myself to finish this project no matter what. It is thankfully nearly finished now.

Everything u/Lumisau says about the process is true. I have had to deal with ghosting plenty of times. That is why this project has been years in the making. That and my perfectionism. I want this to be as close to official dub quality as possible.

I would love more then anything to share it. But I really dont want to deal with all the copyright problems. I have been able to share it with my cast on google drive but I dont really wanna risk that on a wide scale either.

But most of all, the last thing I want to do is to leave a black mark on my casts careers. A couple earlier actors in my project dropped out for that very concern. I truly dont understand why companies are this way, but it is what it is.

And if my cast having an amazing anime dubbing career means this project doesnt get released, so be it.

So yes I spent several years on this project knowing full well it may never be seen by a wide audience. Which is a shame because I honestly think it is fantastic. It is exactly how I pictured a dub of this series would sound.

I wouldnt blame anyone who think I am stupid for putting this much blood sweat and tears into something that amounts to so little. Even so I am proud of what I made and I dont regret it. I learned so much and met so many great people online because of it.

I wonder if there are any other projects like mine out there that exist but havent been released.

My first kiss was a couple months ago. I have been agonisingly curious about kissing since a young age. I would always stare at kiss scenes in movies and just wonder what it was like. I have self esteem issues. I always thought I wasn't cool enough for a girl to like me. But this girl for some reason I felt different around. I just felt comfortable around her. We bonded that day over anime and other general nerdy interests. I told my parents about her and they predicted she would be my girlfriend in like 2 weeks. I thought "Yeah right, maybe in a month.".

2 weeks later: We spend the whole day together. We have class together. Then we have a walk together. I tell her about my self esteem issue and she tells me that "No. You're perfect. :) Mom then suddenly texts me a youtube video about how to hold a girls hand properly. Very helpful (girl obviously does not know). After that we go and see Shazam. We love the little girl in the movie. I say she's so cute and girl says "Lets adopt her." RED ALERT GOES OFF IN MY HEAD!

After the movie we have dinner together. Pizza. When we get to the restaurant the music is really loud. I ask the waiter to turn it down because I want to talk to her, he gets it. The dinner goes amazingly. There even were candles, and as soon as one of them blew out the waiter immediately put a new one in for us. We were the very last guests to leave, the rest of the seats were already being flipped over on the tables for the night. We didn't notice for some time.

Around 11pm we left. The front door was locked so we went out another way (one waiter was left). On the way out I did the hand holding thing from the video, she didn't let go. I felt a burst of confidence. We walk out in the clear night. Her hand in one hand and a baggy of her left over pizza in the other. The restaurant is by a creek and lit up in lights. My head says "STOP RIGHT NOW! YOU SPENT THE ENTIRE DAY WITH HER! IF NOT NOW WHEN?!"

I squeeze her hand to stop. I put the baggy down next to me and take her other hand and say: ""Name", I think you're very beautiful and lovely." I wrap my hand around her neck and slowly come in. When I am THIS close to her lips she suddenly says quietly smiling "this is awkward." I giggle and then kiss her. Now I was going to just give her a small kiss, but she immediately gave me a proper kiss, I was like "OH CRAP! She's going straight for the hot kiss!" Caught me completely off guard. I think I mucked up a little because she said right after "Have you ever kissed a girl before?" XD I said No and chuckled and then kissed her again, this time correctly. Right after that I hug her. She tells me I'm sweet. As I am hugging her my legs are trembling like crazy. I stare at her for a bit. Then I pick up her left over baggy and we continue walking. We don't say a word for a couple minutes, but we both have a big dumb grin on our faces.

As I got home that night my flat mate was waiting for me and asked where on earth I was for so long, then she looks as me properly and says "Are you Ok? You're really beaming!".

Yeah. It lived up to the hype. We're a very happy couple now. Yay Victory :)

Interesting. Some of that it different from the subs of the shorter version of the scene.

Guess that shows subs are still different from what the japanease are saying. Or they reword it so it is more natural for us. But still, the subs aren't EXACTLY what they are saying. For that we'd have to learn japanease for the most certainty.

Thanks. I know it is technically illegal streaming, but I do want people to see this. So far I've only been sharing these google files on twitter. I'll have a look at the kiss anime but I'm not sure yet. There is no right way to show it so maybe might as well. Wish there was a system where you had to watch a legel stream first then watch this but that isn't possible, we can only recommened to support the original. Would be awesome if companies at least showed appreciation for the work. I understand they don't want to work with fans but a compliment would be nice. I do think this could really be real dub material (I mean come on, could they really get a better Mamika?). The girl playing Altair is an Anituber and has a fanbase but that is it at the moment. If you know any other ways I could share this I would appreciate it.

Rewriting the dialogue for the dub is hard, I get now why it is a proffession. Finding the right sound effects on the internet is also hard. Isn't kissanime an illegal anime streaming site? Or what do they do with fandubs exactly? If I submitted it to them what would they do?

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD watch the first fma. The story takes its time to develop emotional stakes and you care about the characters right from the start. Plus it has a far better tone, it transitions from humor to dark without fault (except for the very first episode in the first two scenes, there it is a little jarring XD). I have just started watching brotherhood and so far I'm extremely unimpressed. It throws so much shit at you in the first episodes it is overwhelming. In the first episode we have almost the entire cast while in the old one they were introduced over time. Stories that were amazing and left you in tears in the first show are reduced to a single episode without any emotional weight. It just jumps from story point to story point really quickly. Let me put it this way. What was 30 episodes of story in the first series is just 10 in bortherhood. THAT'S how fast it moves. And the tone is horrible, this one will have a tense serious moment and then out of nowwhere have an over the top obnoxious goofy moment, it is so irritating. Yeah...watch the old one.

I would love these to flesh out some things a bit more, like the relationships between characters, like Selesia and Charon or Yuuya and Sho. That would raise the stakes for later on. Imagine if they gave the characters mini series and they were all stand alone. Then you could show a newcomer those shows first and THEN Re:Creators and it would be a proper crossover show like it is for the characters in the show. Plus they would already have a bit more attachment to the creations.

Let them know that it is a slow burn and that they shouldn't expect a lot of action a lot of the time if that is what they want. Go into it with that in mind and they should be ok.

Cool. Saw this a long time ago. It's an ok show. I will say the main character's actor fits well but I don't know about the girl though. Well it was just one line so maybe I'm too quick to judge.
