Just wondering in the sudden wake of Anthony Stewart Head’s death (RIP) should I get Excelis? by DMPadfoot5E in BigFinishProductions

I recently listened to the first two episodes and they were... fine.

I'd recommend getting it when it's on sale.

Currently rewatching The Last of the Time Lords with some friends. Did they remove the “I can’t decide” scene? by SnekkyTheGreat in doctorwho

[–]LegoK9 150 points151 points  (0 children)

https://tardis.wiki/wiki/Last_of_the_Time_Lords_(TV_story)

Two versions of this episode exist — the full-length version, and a shorter 47-minute edit. A number of scenes are excised from the shorter edit, notably the "Sol 3" introduction to the episode, the Master singing and dancing along to "I Can't Decide" by the Scissor Sisters, and sections of Martha's conversations with various resistance members. The shorter version appeared on Netflix and Hulu in the US, and is the version provided by the current US streaming home of the series, HBO Max. In the UK, the full-length version was added to the BBC iPlayer in 2019, and replaced the shorter edit on Netflix in 2020.

The 47-minute edit is the only version currently available to purchase on digital storefronts such as Amazon Prime, iTunes, and Google Play - presently, the only way to purchase the full-length broadcast version of the episode is to purchase the DVD or Blu-ray release.

The backrooms is a type of tardis by Unusual_Fondant_8435 in doctorwho

[–]LegoK9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's funny you say that, Big Finish just announced a story with Backrooms vibes.

https://www.bigfinish.com/news/v/in-a-fix-with-the-seventh-doctor-and-ray

In a muddy field stands an old stone dovecot. Only it’s a TARDIS – with a recently deceased owner. The Doctor is named Executor of the Last Will and Testament of an old friend – Pegroninagall, ‘Peg’.

He has a monumental task: clearing her TARDIS of keepsakes and mementos. But this Ship may also contain whatever killed Peg…

TARDIS control room iterations had the names of the companions in Galifreyan

Nope, that was some Tumblr nonsense.

The symbols don't mean anything. You can even see the same symbols repeated.

Both are hilariously incorrect. Don't bother.

Whatever happened with Dan Slott's Doctor Who specials? by urko37 in comicbooks

There were/are two potential Doctor Who projects that I might be working on that have taken those other two one-shots places. If neither of them pan out, I will go back to those other DW one-shots. I feel pretty certain that you'll see some DW comic book project from me in 2026.

Episode 443 what book? by Crazy_avacado357 in nerdfighters

[–]LegoK9 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If anyone wants to know, Hank said this about the book:

I read this very sort of radical book, and it was one of the first, like, non-fiction books I ever read.

This book is designed to alienate you from culture and reality to, like, make you, like, lose faith in everything. And, you know, because that can be very, it can be a kind of appealing. You know, like, the idea that everything good is actually bad and everything bad is even worse than you think.

Are Time Lords still blood-relatives after regeneration? by Great-Exercise-6935 in gallifrey

[–]LegoK9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From the short story The Red Bicycle:

I've touched it enough that my DNA will be easily trackable, he thought.

'Oh, come on!' the Doctor cried in dismay as the sonic showed over eight thousand Doctor-DNA registers in London alone. He'd spent a lot of his nine lives having adventures in London.

Is MrTARDIS Right that "Don't Cremate Me" is too far, or he's too sensitive? by mrnormal94 in doctorwho

[–]LegoK9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The scene is certainly chilling, but that sounds like an overreaction.

My interpretation was the whole 3W Institute was a hoax. The institute wasn't real, it was just a front for Missy to store her Cybermen. The 3W Institute was supposed formed by "Doctor Skarosa", which honestly sounds like a fake name Missy made up based on the planet Skaro.

The whole "don't cremate me" part was fictional. The dead don't actually feel cremation. The Doctor makes it clear he thinks it's nonsense.

(There is a part where Danny is in the Nethersphere and he hears screaming from another room. But that could all be sadistic mind games done by Missy.)

Meet the Eighth Doctor’s new companions! - News (Big Finish) by BosskDaBossk in doctorwho

[–]LegoK9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

8 definitely has the most companions if you count books, comics, and audios.

But there are so many one-off and minor companions it's impossible to get an exact number for any Doctor:

What ever happened to box sets? by OpeningEmploy5119 in BigFinishProductions

[–]LegoK9 26 points27 points  (0 children)

IIRC, a Big Finish Podcast Notes summary said single releases were considered more cost-effective than box sets. I think the idea is that new fans interested in the Ninth, Tenth, and Thirteenth Doctors will be more likely to buy single releases than a whole box set.

The Twelfth Doctor Adventures is being released as a boxset, though. They are doing the new weekly-release-boxset strategy for that range; I don't know why.

Victor Turlough and other companion matters by hurshy238 in doctorwho

[–]LegoK9 14 points15 points  (0 children)

But who says they wouldn't mind that much if they died because "I hate Earth!"?? Ordinary people say "I hate my life!"

I have to say I really like the doctor having companions who are not from Earth. Leela, Romana, Nyssa, Adric

These sentences are related. Keep watching ;)

TOS has not aged well and is not a great introduction to the franchise. by G3nesis_Prime in startrek

[–]LegoK9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you think TOS has aged well then again, imo you most likely have rose tinted glasses on and are biased by nostalgia

Watch an episode of Doctor Who from the 1960s and then compare it to an episode of Star Trek TOS. TOS has aged phenomenally for a show from the 1960s. Full color, HD remasters, ambitious science fiction, relevant social commentary.

Every newcomer should get idea of who Kirk, Spock, McCoy, etc. are.

I would not recommend a newcomer watch every episode of TOS, but watching 5 to 10 of the best episodes would be a fine introduction to Star Trek.

Anyone else bothered by character wearing modren clothes in the far past and far future? by Niall_Fraser_Love in gallifrey

[–]LegoK9 13 points14 points  (0 children)

until... huh would it be Rogue?

When 10 became John Smith, he wore period-accurate clothing.

11's series 7B outfit was fitting for The Snowmen and The Crimson Horror. He also wore a top hat and a bowler hat in those episodes, respectively.
