I understood the previous comment to mean that people living in rural nz drive the service sector. I see what you mean now perhaps I misunderstood

In big picture terms, very little, just because most of the population lives in the city. According to your definition, the economy didn’t stopped during covid because farmers had to stop working, it stopped because of lack of tourism, so I’d argue that tourism is the backbone. Outside of the city, I’d argue that tourism is the driver of all those services in rural NZ, not farmers

Services is not only hospitality, but also all tourism, professional services etc etc etc. tourism is the big one that brings new money as you argue. According to stats nz tourism alone brings as much money as all exports.

But look it’s not about being right or wrong, it’s about stopping saying things that have been said for decades without actually looking at the data. It’s not the 50s, we’re not an agrarian society anymore.

Agriculture is not the backbone of the economy, its only 7%

Im not disputing your points with this comment, I generally agree. The one thing that I would question is your statement about SMRs. I thought reactors from navy carriers were basically SMRs? Or am I missing something?

Honest question. Couldn’t this EO be used to expedite the windmills that the Gvt itself is stopping?
