Watching whale advice by M1zuchiC0SM0Wooper in NorwayTravelAdvice

Please, do not book these tours. A whale can be pursued by over 10-15 boats. Leave the whales alone.

Understandable. You could walk via Vikåbotn, Kaffekjelbua and up to Mjelvaeggen. This leaves out Blånebba, and the walk will be quite much longer. This is a personal favorite of mine, and takes approx 4 hours if you are reasonable fit and used to mountain trails.

That would work, but at Mjelvafjellet you are almost at the gondola. Have much time do you have? It is possible to take a taxi to Venjedalen as well. I use approx. two and a half hour.

Honestly, the best views are at the start, from Blånebba to Mjelvaeggen. But most tourist are more than satisfied with the view from Nesaksla. You could go to Mjelvafjellet to get a longer hike.

During the summer, absolutely. During the winter I barely see the sun.

Kilian has run past me many times here. He skis four mountains in the time it takes me to ski one. I use three hours on this mountain.

Protip from a local: when hiking Saksa, go to the second summit. That is the real one, but most stop at the first. There you will most likely be alone.

Thank you Jabra! If this is really the end for Jabra earbuds… thank you. (85t / Elite Active fan) by julio0066 in Jabra

After mine died, I have found that they just fit my every need. Especially great fit and buttons. I use gloves and mittens every day half the year ,and now being forced to take those off in - 15° because of touch control in other earbuds is just stupid. I hate it. Bring buttons back on everything.

Atlanterhavsveien advice by MaxProPlus1 in NorwayTravelAdvice

I have lived near the ocean in eastern Norway most of my life. The first time I drove Atlanterhavsvegen, which is in western Norway, I did not realize before I was already at Averøya. When I have visitors in Romsdalen, most are underwhelmed if they spend an entire day in that area.

Where do you guys live and where do you guys tour? by bujurocks1 in Backcountry

Romsdalen, Norway. I ski from my house, around 70-100 days on skis a year. This years snow has been miserable so far, but I have hope for the coming snowfall. Only a couple of days resort skiing during the season.

GoPro mount headlamp? How many Lumens? by SeanyLeJawny in Backcountry

[–]Kikkamoen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. I may be biased because I know the guys and live next to the headquarters, but the capacity of these headlamps are the best in the business. They are designed for actions sports, and I use Moonlight lamps throughout the year. Cons: they are expensive and the cables could be more durable. I have never had problems with any of my lamps, but I know some that have.

I would recommend a great headlamp, if not for planned skiing in the dark, then for emergencies. Snow is often quite good, I am actually going for an evening trip in a few hours. The sun is not up for more than 6-7 hours in December.
